  • I just didn't know by using a smaller casserole dish if I needed to cut the recipe in half

  • @brittneydargusch21 I think it would be a good idea to cut the recipe in half, because there will be a tendency for the casserole to boil over in the oven in the smaller dish, unless you make less of it.

  • @16hilltyKMS I almost always use Laura's Lean ground beef, and I find it easily at my supermarket (Kroger).

  • @ndnflava Substituting rotini is fine. This will serve 4 to 6, depending on whether you provide salad, bread, etc.

  • @Gotjonas97 You don't have to use low-fat meat; just drain any excess fat after browning the meat.

  • @furberry101 You could use hamburger (ground beef). It will have a milder taste, so you might want to add a *little* bit of ground red pepper as you brown the ground beef.

  • Betty, this recipe looks so delicious, but i'm afraid i'm not a big fan of sausage. I was wondering if i could substitute pepperoni in place of the sausage? I've tried so many of your recipes and they are all so tasty and easy. Thank you for sharing all of these amazing dishes with us. :)

  • @kat21sd I eat some of everything I make. I just limit myself to small portions. I also work out regularly and make sure to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables!

  • I agree, Prego is the best for Italian foods. A relative just got me using Prego instead of making sauce homemade, it taste just as good as homemade.

  • That's what I think, but I do mainly Southern cooking, and I did not grow up eating *real* Italian food! But I love Prego!

  • i made this friday night and my 5 year old son and my fiance LOVED it. and it's very hard to get something that they both like :) i even like it better than lasagna because it has a spicier taste and it seems to be more filling! thanks betty!!!

If i am just cooking for my family (which are three of us) would you say i half all the ingredients? also if i was to use shredded mozarella cheese would i just cover the surface with it?lol i am terrible when it comes to Maths, i just did a recipe and had to half everything. I mean even basic maths puzzles me!

    I'm sorry I wasn't clearer--yes, just halve all of the ingredients, and when it comes to the mozzarella cheese, shredded is fine--just cover the surface evenly and then sprinkle your Parmesan cheese evenly over that--it doesn't have to be exact! Thanks for your question!

  • Yes, that would be fine. It wouldn't change the taste or consistency much. This is one of those dishes where you can change the type of pasta, the types of cheese, the flavor of the sauce, and, yes, the meat! Thanks for your question!
