@Abstraction100 Hitting keys across the keyboard from where your left hand is stationed on the keyboard is slower than hitting ones directly under your hand. This would, in theory, make ~20 keys equivalent in reaction time to hit, instead of 5-6 being the fastest, and the rest being slower. Now the change isn't likely that big, but much as in other competitions, car racing, swimming, etc., every 1/10 of a second that you shave off can make the difference.

@Abstraction100 we are talking about lots of hotkeys, when typing the distance of every key is more or less the same, but with the classic mouse and keyboard (and assuming that you are right handed) if you have yo press for example f12, p, l, backspace, etc you have to first slide your right hand to the left and then make the keystroke, you can obviously make remaps like shit/ctrl/whatever+q/w/e/a/s.. to assign that combination to send a different keystroke, but still is more time demanding.
