  • "lying in the depths of your imagination" That line reminds me so much of willy wonka and the chocolate factory.

  • @degree7 I never said it made a difference to it, I was just pointing out that I like the song. Most people in my age group would never even have heard of it. There was really no need to jump down my throat.

  • como el verano sabia distinto con estas canciones.¡¡¡¡¡

  • Thumbs up if Lie To Me brought you here :)

  • first song i heard of crowded house...

  • LOL the title of the song sounds like the climate here in england :')

  • I'm really enjoying these rare CH videos that I've never seen before. YT is helping rekindle my love for Neil Finn and the boys. Thanks for posting it!

  • how the fuck does justin beiber has more views than this.

oh and 31 people are complete retards who have no sense about music. Just saying.

  • how the hell does the music guy in Lie to me found this song

i never heard on this band or the song

    good sont though

  • does he say smiling as the shit comes down?

  • I wish Crowded House would sing Beautiful People song. One that everybody thought is Cherry Red Records song. It so nice.

  • @ebf2006 Why you so much hate Crowded House? One day you say you hate Lady Gaga another day Crowded House. Who will be next? Terry, Blair And Anouchka??

  • I love this song even though it was made before I was born.

  • @CaitieandtheLadybugs

So what if it was made, like, what, a year before you were born? Does it even matter? Why would one flipping year make any difference as to the quality of a song.

Hate to make the classical music comparison here, but just because Beethoven, or Bach, or Mozart or Haydn wrote all of their work over 100 years, does it mean it makes sense that people wouldn't appreciate it?

  • Bi-Polar? Melbourne? Nah, it's about spending 24 hours in Britain, surely! :P

  • Poetic delight!

  • My name is Winter and in class there is a girl named Summer and a girl everyone nic-names Fall so one of my freinds pulls the spring out of his pen and says "Winter, look at this!" He pionts to Summer, 'Fall' me, and then the spring before saying "Four Seasons in one day!"

  • These guys owe SO MUCH to The Beatles.

  • @getevilnic Almost all modern bands owe something to the Beatles.

  • lie to me

  • I just uploaded an interpretation with HD sound, check it out.

  • lol I found this song thanx to Lie To Me! ;) Awsome song! :)

  • Beautiful

  • genius song

  • Can anyone shine some light on this song. I believe its about bi-polar disorder, but apparently finn insists he came up with it waiting for a ferry in melbourne? Anyone who knows bi-polar would realize how haunting the words are in that context.

  • @perf5paul Paul Hester had bi-polar disorder. I wonder if the song was about him ?.

  • @Bethfromwigan Yeah, it makes logical sense. Some of the lines like "you can take me where you will, up the creek and through the mill" to me sounds like these lyrics are talking to someone (not generalized singing about melbourne, as its supposed to be) To me it sounds very personal, like its someone closer to him than a friend. To me, music is - what it means to the individual listener, not the writter. But this is one song that I really want to know who or what its about.

  • @perf5paul Interesting, I think someone in NZ had told me it was about New Zealand. So it's really about Melbourne? Pretty sure Neil Finn was a Kiwi, but then I think he was in Australia by the time this came out.

It's really the only song I liked when I had all these Crowded House/Split Enz songs thrust down my throat.

  • @szettner Yeah course he's a kiwi and yeah this is crowded house so it was when he was in australia. Melbourne is well known for it weather changes, but Im still not convinced. Still think its about bi-polar

  • @perf5paul Well, I suppose it could be all three actually. A good song would be written to apply to as many concepts as possible and could also be inspired by a number of things. :-)

  • @perf5paul "It was written about the city of Melbourne as it is commonly known as being a city of "four seasons in one day". For Neil Finn, who was living in the city at the time, Melbourne seemingly has inspired dozens of songs." - Wikipedia

  • @LJChocoholic Yeah, I know thats what Neil says' if you read all my posts you would know I acknowledge this.... but I think this is a red herring. The lyrics tell a different story. Thats the beauty of all art but especially music, everyone has their own interpretation.

  • @perf5paul There were too many posts to go through and read, I get bored after a while and look up other videos! lol I think you're right, everyone does have their own interpretation of different songs and maybe he was singing about bipolar as well as the weather, but just didn't want to tell everyone that. So I agree with you. ;o)

  • Respect from Hungary!

  • Thanks, great song

  • Amazing beatiful song.

  • This song was made in my home town of Oamaru, New Zealand. I watched it being made.

  • The song is about Melbourne people. Anybody would know that. I'm not saying thats all it's about. But They said themselves that it was about Melbourne

  • could imagine paul mccartney singing this

  • Paul McCartney from New Zealand?

  • @dobrayatvar Neil Finn is NZ's version of Paul McCartney is that's what you're saying

  • what a underrated song

  • @hellisherable its about bipolar disorder. listen again and it all makes sense. my dad brought me up on this, makes me feel like a kid again.

  • This brings back memories of driving down to see my Grandpa, we would sing along to crowded house and sometimes fall asleep. He wasn't the most liveliest grandparent, but he had stories that would really open my eyes. I'm really happy I can relive those moments by listening to these guys, thank you crowded house :)

  • why is katy perry in the related videos section?

  • this song is wonderful, I can't believe I've never heard it before...

  • that was on at my best friends dads funeral:(

  • i love this song coz it explains me,,,adwhat no1 understands that i no (ihave bipolar) and no family

  • Is it me, or is the song cut off prematurely????

  • @gab2922 No it's not you! Ther must be an un-butchered version somewhere...

  • @gab2922 It's not just you. EVERYBODY NOW- IN HARMONY - DAY!!

  • @gab2922 no it cut off!

  • @gab2922 Thats the theme of the song mate, how nothing lasts as long as we'd like.

  • Love this and Weather with You.

  • Wonderful Song

  • Alles is goed aan dit nummer: muziek, tekst, gewoon alles.

  • Alles is goed aan dit nummer: muziek, tekst, gewoon alles.

  • how awesome......cant say anymore

  • how on earth can someone dislike this? damn ignorants.....

  • i didnt think the neighbours ad butchered it, i liked that cover from the she will have her way album...

  • good

  • I guess that lyrics are pretty metaphoric, cause I'm Russian and i can't make out the sense.

  • Love his paua guitar

  • the neighbours version is a lot better.

  • shit? I always thought he said "ship" :S

  • @53124box I thought that too, but after reading the lyrics, it is really "shit" that is mentioned.

  • smiling as the shit comes down - who cannot associate with that?

  • @nwarburton1 smiling while regretful but not.

  • "smiling as the shit comes down", who hasn't been there? Apt.

  • Mum, i'm going out, where are you going? to beat up 26 people.

  • I find comfort in CH's music. It brings me back to times that I now feel tempered my youthful angst. Like at the time I was sure I got more out of this music than my surroundings, and today the material reminds me of those surroundings that I thought were unimportant....only to realise they were.......

  • @shelski72 that is what CH's music does in totality, I find :)

  • i agree this song is great to listen to when you need comfort the most

  • In this moment of pain I find great solace listening to this song. Thank you guys for composing a great number! It's so soothing.

  • like rain ... σαν την βροχη,,,

  • "worlds above and worlds below" my favourite bit. all in together, this fine weather :)

  • Crowded House's songs has this trademark melancholy underlined in them. Emotions that can resonate for decades and ages. Bittersweet.

  • @cenotaphofmist yep. they couldve been a straight up pop band, but theres always a minor chord or so that makes it art

  • @7kurisu Good call

  • neighborhoods as in the tv show?

  • earthquakes....nature's way of regurgitatin' the building trade in a lapsed economy

  • 4 seasons in you day. i can explain that... melbourne weather.

  • good song. neigbours version even better :)

  • I like the neighbors one it's better because it's slower I only looked this song up because I herd the ad and I wanted to hear the real one and it is so much faster

  • @1113Molly Herd indeed.

  • Damn.. my neighbours never play this song...

  • I get so bloody annoyed every time the Neighbours commercial comes on

  • LOL NEIGHBOURSSS AD XDD but i like the neighbours version

  • I really like the way the video en-

  • The sound cuts out at the end of this video. There is a video which isn't missing the end at watch?v=mJ38HfsrFOw but it doesn't have the CD cover at the start.

  • Superb! Beatles style...

  • Beautiful song.

Thought it was written about Melbourne too, though that's probably just the arrogant Australian in me laying claim to everything good that comes from NZ ;-)

  • The neighbours cover is by sally seltmann but i cant find her version anywhere?!

  • @sarah2427s on the album She Will Have Her Way, under the alias New Buffalo.

  • The Buffalo is not that bad

  • the Buffalo version is not that bad its the better remix. But crowded is better

  • Comment removed

  • @MsTuneage What do you mean "how it's meant to be known". Surely any kinda publicity, be it modern TV, Video Games, Movies etc is a good thing. Anything that brings in new fans to this music is "the way it's meant to be".

  • @MsTuneage Just because I heard it on a Tv program doesn't make me or the song any less brilliant. I think you should appreciate the fact that more people have found this brilliant song because of the show.

  • Thumbs up if Neighbours brought you here!

  • :) love this song.

  • why do people not make original, pleasant music any more? everything new hurts my head!

  • dawny ...dn nivas...is ur song during 95 and 98 i thnk so.....so many seasons were lost in to the by gone years......i too love this song.....urs mummy

  • 24 people only like summer ;)

  • who ever wrote this song was high when they wrote it

  • this song is about Melbourne

  • Well done.. 4 seasons in 1 day. I couldn't do that. But there are miracles, isn't?

(Sorry for my bad English). But it is good music.

  • This is music! Long live new wave!

  • 24 ppl have bad taste!

  • wow sounds soo similar to "Faxanadu - Mantra" which was old NES game lol

  • who else is here because the neighbours add butchered this song, and they wanted to hear it properly?

  • @KatherinefortheWIN the HELL they did, I liked their COVER better.

  • @KatherinefortheWIN

Haha, that is the EXACT reason I'm here.

I fucking loved this song back in the day, but I hadn't heard it for ages until it was on Neighbours. I was like... "This song remind me of something, but my god it's terrible!"

Then it all clicked, and I've been listening to this basically on loop since. Hahaha.

  • @KatherinefortheWIN MEEE! wow.. neighbours had really outdone themselves..just have the original god damn it!

  • @KatherinefortheWIN i liked the version on neighbours, do you know how i am able to listen to that version?

  • @edwinaisobese Just search "Ashley Arrison Four seasons in one day". That should be it.

  • @KatherinefortheWIN i actually like the nighbours version....

  • @Vanstania How can you its disgusting and ruins such a brilliant, stirring and emotional song?

  • @fire100503 cuz i like alternative music and not really soft rock- i just think it is a better version, no need to get huffy bout it

  • @KatherinefortheWIN holly crap, add just came on t.v channel 11 and was so pissed off i had 2 youtube it 2 feel better!

  • @KatherinefortheWIN well it was a cover from " she will have her way - tribute to the finn brothers"

  • @KatherinefortheWIN The Chanel 11 "Neighbors" promo makes me cringe every time it's on. It's a terrible thing to do to a good song. I hope they don't export that promo to the Poms along with the show! How embarrassing!

  • @KatherinefortheWIN yup. but neighours screw up everything. how they are still on the air is beyond me

  • @KatherinefortheWIN The song in the neighbours ad was actually by New Buffalo so neighbours did not ruin the song and if you are going to be rude at least spell it properly its ad not add

  • @freesoap1 its not ad, its and

  • @KatherinefortheWIN

Anyone that watches Neighbours has no right to complain. Or live.

  • it's surely can be 4 seasons in one day when you live in NZ like I do..........

  • Definately think "In My Life" by The Beatles was the inspiration for this great song.

  • Jajaja me too.

  • 0:48 --smiling as the shit comes down

    love that line!

  • Comment removed

  • youtube got me here

  • love this track its my fave one by them

  • i love that episode ^^

  • yeah lie to me got me here...just whatched that episoe today

  • NEIL IS KINDA CUTE

  • This is such an amazing song. I can't help giggling a bit at the video a bit though. Some of the metaphors are illustrated a bit too literally ('sticking my neck out?'). ;)

  • I was kinda missing somebody!!!!

  • and me too!

  • :) me too

  • lie to me brought me here..its great

  • Awesome song (but you already knew that)! Not sure about the video, though. It has a bit of a Teletubbies feel to it ;-).

  • Lie to me brought me here. Love the song but dnt think have listened to it in ages.

  • @shivamzbond same here

  • @couchman7787 me too!

  • this inspires me paint......i'm painting right now....it's autumn...my fave season...

  • Fly it's fuck all to do with what your on about not having a pop just saying pal

  • I still think he says "smiling as the shit comes down." I know it's ship, but I can't not hear shit!

  • @SuperRondalee I'm pretty sure it's 'shit', that makes a lot more sense lyrically. Smiling as the shit comes down = smiling as things go wrong but smiling as the ship comes down ???

  • @edobriensgrin

The online lyric site I found says it is ship. And Neil doesn't cuss in his lyrics. I agree that shit does make more lyrical sense... which is part of the reason I always hear shit. But if you listen closely, he does say ship.

  • @SuperRondalee I don't take any notice of online lyric sites but if Neil doesn't use those kind of words then fair enough :-) ... but I've always sung 'shit' and I always will :P

  • @SuperRondalee I thought the same when I first listened to this song

  • Have you ever ever been to Auckland...the weather changes so quickly. 1 hour it can be the most beautiful sun, then overcast, rain, then back to sun again. In one day.

  • @TheFly24601 no1 gives a crap

  • @danrocks1000 is a little bitch

  • Video was funny

    but da song is great..

  • its so meaningful to me.

  • 22 ppl like justin beaver

  • Growing up in the 80s got me here

  • What is the red flash newt to him at 2:17?

  • Our country has four seasons in one day, you never know which is going to come first rain, sun, wind or hail.........New Zealand ............

  • @Jokatar That's just how it is in Cleveland, Ohio!

  • @Jokatar It was filmed in New Zealand but it's meant to be about Melbourne. The Domain is a park in Melbourne. it's a Melbourne saying.
