A skateboard is a piece of wood with 4 wheels on it. Tricks are harder on a ripstik because when you land you only have 2 wheels to balance on while a skateboard has 4.

@kights0 I'm sorry, but I would have to disagree with you there. Doing tricks on rip-sticks and Waveboards actually takes a lot of talent. I've had mine for 2 weeks and I can't do anything on it. Skateboards, on the other hand, I learned how to do a kick-flip and an ollie in 2 days.

And believe me, TONS of people over the age of 12 use them. I went to a skatepark yesterday and saw a 18 year old using one, and doing sweet tricks on it.

Also, when you get good, you LOOK better on one.

BTW, I use a waveboard, not a Rip-Stik. Waveboards much more sturdy and, well, wavy. I perfected a wheely last night on it to the point where I could scrap the back on the ground, every time I tried it. And that took me 3 weeks.

Also, I learned how to do an Ollie in a morning, and took the other 2 days to learn the kick-flip. Perhaps I'm just better at skateboarding then others.
