@TANNERGRN Unfortunately, I can NOT remember which song I originally put on this video, THIS IS NOT IT. YouTube and copywrite restrictions, you can't use good music.
I wanted you to know that this video was really nice to see this evening. I had to put my 8 yr old yellow lab down today she had cancer real bad. her name was Pepsi and Bo reminds me so much of her, you have been blessed. again thank you and may Bo live another 15..
We have a one year old yellow lab named Bocephus too!!! His nickname is Bo as well. I sure hope he does as well as your Bo at that age. We also have a 14 year old white lab who doesn't get around quite as well as your Bo, but pretty good for his age.
I've got to get some more videos of the old man up. He had a rough summer, some ugly skin problem of some sort...And issues with his back legs. We've started "infrared heat" therapy and he is doing GREAT. He loves his heat lamps!
I just hope I'm not baking his insides! I'm not really sure what infrared does, but it certainly seems to take the rust out of his joints and he is moving better.
You are one lucky dog owner... my yellow lab is almost 14 years old and not doing so well. His legs are starting to give out. Amazing how Bocephus can run.
Bo's back legs are giving out more and more. He tried to play ball today and I could tell his back legs weren't doing what he wanted. It is sad when they get so old they can't do what they enjoy as much.
That's awesome :) Our lab is 10 1/2 and although she likes to run around here and there...Bocephus runs circles around her. :) Labs are truly the greatest dogs ever. As they say "If it isn't a Lab, it isn't a dog" :)
LOL, I can't use the if it aint a lab it aint a dog cause I have had a house full of mutts before LOL
:) Labs are great. We've really been blessed with this guy. Not only has he lived long beyond many, he is really happy and playful (and totally goofy!)
Hi Luvbeags, your dog is amazing 14 years old and can be this agile. You must have treated your dog with a lot of care. Could you tel me briefly how you raised your dog? I have a 10 year old boxer but is very hyper and I'd love to see him live for many more years.
We make sure he gets all the exercise he needs. We have a fenced in yard and he plays a LOT. He is too senile to play "ball" anymore, but we still throw it and keep him moving. I think keeping him slim and active has contributed to his longevity. And, he has a SUPER vet :)
He is allowed outside all day while we are at work (he has shelter and our yard is fenced)
Now that he is older, we exercise him twice daily, about 10-15 minutes each session, shorter or longer depending on how he feels that day. Some days, as he is older, are better than others.
Loved your video, and your dog. My yellow lab Dusty is 13-1/2 and just had a splenic tumor removed and liver failure. We've been nursing her back to health for about 6 weeks and I'm happy to report she seems to be doing great. It's great to hear that your commitment to Bo has blessed you with additional time and memories. I too have been in quite similar situation with an entergetic yellow lab and so I would like to post a video response. It will be so sad when they are no longer with us,thanks
How do you make your lab live so long? I have a 9 year old lab and I don't want it to die in a year (Like "average" labradors do.) Well my dog acts like a puppy, he's HYPER, jumps, runs and is just bursting with energy and never gets tired. He gets daily exercise, doesn't have any diseases and is well looked after. I feed him good food (the one with tons of vitamins and nutrients) . Do you think he'll live as long as your lab ? :D
Bo lived his first years on cheap dog food. I can't say his food kept him alive. I was a college student and he got whatever what was on sale, usually Joy dog food from the local feed store. As he got older, and I had more money, I did buy him better dog food. But, I can't say that is what keeps him around. His vet says he is in good weight, and that plays a big deal, overweight dogs do die earlier or have to be put to sleep because their joints wear out, and fat dogs are more prone to illness.
I will probably have to be committed to the nut hut when Bocephus passes.
He is a super nutty awesomely crazy dog, and life would be so boring without him. He has to see his vet a bit more, and he is on a lot more medications, but he is still romping :)
He just celebrated his 15th birthday.
Oh, but the pain at losing them, unreal. I've cried more over some dogs than relatives. But don't tell anyone...
Elliott would love him. He's 8 and completely crazy. The other lab i've got is 10 is the most un-lab like dog you'd ever meet, she begs (by sitting on her back legs and lifting her front paws up and giving cute puppy eyes) and is anti-social.
I love the video ... who knew that a 14-year-old lab would still have such energy and zest for life?!? Your video gave me a good chuckle this morning, something I really needed. Thanks!
It's remarkable and wonderful that he is doing this well after being diagnosed with cancer. It looks like this sweet boy has a lot of life left in him!
Great soundtrack!-another inspirational dog from your amazing pack. Seems like i know them all personally. Still sad about Tuff, but the new Bloodhound is very cute.
Thanks for the reply & info. I know the thinner the better; unfortunately I have been sharing human food with my pup for the last eleven-and-a-half years... hard habit to break at this point! She is happy, though, and only overweight by a few pounds. I will look in to your supplements. Thanks again and have a great weekend!
My lab was on Rimadyl; now Deramaxx, in conjunction with Glucosamine & Chondroitin Sulfate but has nowhere near this much energy. She also blew out both of her ACL's and had surgery for that but still has loads of arthritis. Can't believe they were able to remove your dog's spleen and had so much success! Long live our dogs! Having great owners helps!!
He is on Previcox, and I supplement his diet (Canidae dog food) with Welactin and Dasuquin and MSM. I'm out of the Dasuquin(ran out about a month ago), and have been using 2 OsteoBiflex (same ingredients as his dasuquin with the MSM added in) the OsteoBiFlex is a human supplement, but it seems to be working well. I think keeping him thin helps, you can feel his ribs easily and he has a pretty good tummy tuck. He gets NO fatty foods, and he only gets all natural low calorie snacks once a day.
Hi Brian and thanks for stopping by my channel! He is young at heart, indeed.
I do have to give credit to mother nature, though. The days have felt more crisp with fall coming, and Bo LOVES cold weather and snow. I think he is feeling FRISKY and he can hardly wait for fall and winter to get here :)
He wouldn't run around if he wasn't feeling ok. That's a good vet that you have that keeps him going and going. Gosh I miss my doggies. It's so painful not seeing them. Oh Wendi it breaks my heart. Please send your hugs to me. I need them.
i had a Labrador X Staffy for 20 years, very good dog, had him since he was born, sadly died back in Febuary.
RIP Rover

He pretty much eats anything he wants these days
At 15 1/2 we let him pretty much pick and chose what he wants.
He loves purina dog chow!

Bo is actually over 15 years old now.
He does get routine checkups and stuff.
We make sure he gets all the exercise he needs. We have a fenced in yard and he plays a LOT. He is too senile to play "ball" anymore, but we still throw it and keep him moving. I think keeping him slim and active has contributed to his longevity. And, he has a SUPER vet :)

Thanks Pauly Channel.
Bo is now 15, and I've got to get more vids of him up.
Bo recovered well from his splenic mass, it luckily was not cancer. Most of them are in the older dogs, but luckily his was just big and bleeding.
I'm sure Dusty will make a good recovery as well. :)
I love your video response.

studz990 3 years ago
Yeah, his vet thinks he has had attention deficit disorder his whole life.
But now combined with being a bit senile, and he is totally goofy.
We are guessing he just forgets how to BE OLD.
Thanks for stopping by. Comments are appreciated!

He is a very active dog with a zest for life.
It is funny, he LOVES puppies, and for the first few weeks after we got the bloodhound puppy (since he is a bit senile) he would react like
OH WOW, a NEW PUPPY!
And then, the next day
OH WOW, a NEW PUPPY!
He was kinda forgetting we had her.
Oh, well, Bo's world is a happy world. Indeed :)
It is getting cooler here, and he LOVES cold weather. I need to get more vids of him, he is REALLY romping now :)
