  • As a white 57 year old male, and I cannot understand the Black Youth do not follow this sound the Gentlemen performs! The very melodic Jazz sound still has the deep hidden blues foundation in it.To establish this sound a Black Artist of this caliber is what you search far.In his short demo I hear a Jazz,Blues, and even a Latino. Then closing with a crunching "ROCK"!

  • This was the best PRS custom review I've found. This will definitely be my next guitar. I tried the PRS Mira X and fell in love with it but do not have a grand to spend on it so this sounds like a great alternative.

  • Trying out a Wide-Fat PRS neck today before I order my PRS SE Custom 22 in vintage tri-color just like this one. GREAT VIDEO. Thank You!

  • So I bought this one and it's awesome! I use 10 gauge strings tuned Eb, had to change to Grover tuners cause it wouldnt stay in tune...do you know what kind of Whammy bar we can use on this???a bit confused about the different models of bars

  • @fattirevsbud you can't go wrong with grover tuners I have them on another guitar but I haven't had a prob with my prs staying in tune so far. the mod I have has the stop tail piece I don't us whammy bars much so I'm not that familiar with the trem models sorry:(

  • Hi I'm hesistating between this one, the SE Santana and the SE PAUL Allender (more recent but I'm in now way gonna play metal), I play classic Rock, which one would you recommend?

  • I have one of these used on a guitar forum. Seeing this video really sold me on it. I have never had a guitar with more responsive volume and tone knobs. I played it with the volume low last night while teaching my daughter to play acoustic and it was virtually indistinguishable from an acoustic. It is too bad they discontinued these.

  • I have one of these. Very nice guitar. Very nice playing too.

  • Best review for this guitar I have heard on youtube! Really gives you a good estimate of how it plays. I think thanks to this specific video I will pick up one of these with the money I'll get for trading my Epiphone Les Paul Plus top. (Its weird to trade a carved top guitar for a flat top but I think the tone will be worth it.)

  • Hi, do you still have the guitar? Do you still love it? I've just picked up the same model and I love it. I've put Gotoh tuners on with dark marble type tips, I've also put higher powered pickups in it and copper insulated all the cavities. The original pickups were excellent though. I wasn't going to change them but I always have to do something to a new guitar.

  • @Musicartsandcoffee yes I still have it and still love it play it every day it's the one I keep in the house all the others are out in the studio

  • Great review man. You play excellent as well. :)

  • Tried out a Us 22 and an se 22 today, couldnt tell much difference, the standard us model had a little bit more power in the pickups, but the se played just as nicely, very good budget guitar for those who want to play it rather than look at it

  • Nice review. I have an SE Singlecut and I liked it ok stock, but put some DiMarzio EJ Customs in it and those are amazing. It sounds so clean and bluesy now. I thought the original pups were pretty good, but in retrospect, they were pretty muddy.

  • also how is the sustain on this guitar? is there any fret buzz?

  • @cavedweller1996 on this guitar it has nice tone and sustain and I have no fret buzz at all it was set up great from the factory I did nothing to it yet

  • @musmin7 alright, thanks a bundle! i have a squire strat, but i don't have a lot of money. so i might want to invest in this guitar!

  • @cavedweller1996 I had one, and regretfully sold it! Mine was the Tremolo model. The PRS imported trem is one of the smoothest operating trems I have ever used...BUT I did need to have a silicone nut and locking tuners put on to keep it in tune.

  • this guy reminds me of my friends dad! minus the guitar skill...

  • Thanks for your review.

  • i bought this guitar a few years ago i replaced the pickups with seymour duncans. it has a great dirty sound with my egnator amp

  • haha nice flame top dance!!!

  • I got lucky at the guitar center here in Nashville (yes people, I live in music city:] ) and they had one of these in the sale corner for 569 and then on clearance for 369! It was such a great deal! I convinced my parents to let me buy it, and it is now currently sitting in lay -a-way for the next week and a half until i get half the money saved up. and to make it even better, I got one that was in the blue matteo (which i heard there was only 100 of the blue matteo versions made?)

  • Just a speculation, and generalization.... But I've found more black people that can make Crates sound good. Us white boys just cant get them to sing... But a lot of black guitar players on youtube are using Crate, and they sound great.... Just laugh at this one with me please, no disrespect.

  • @snowbrdr88 ok none taken what type of amps do you use and with what axe?

  • @musmin7 I use a hot rod deluxe and a strat with suhr fletcher landau classics

  • Just snagged one of these babys from a pawn shop for $150 so far its my faveorite out of my Strat and gibson Sg

  • Must admit, this is some great review, as well as the guitar. I have plans to get one of these. Thanks for the demo!

  • WOw you sound wonderful! i am thinking of the semi hollow version of your guitar. and i am a beginner. but after getting the fundamentals down i would like to play a more jazz guitar or funk sound. sort of like the style you were playing. so do you think i should go with the semi hollow prs se custom ?

  • I suggest taking the time to sit and play both solid and simi hollow to really decide on the sound you want. there are also other very nice simihollows like the Ibanez as 73 check out my review on that one I love it for the versitility and you can get a wide rang of tones from the prs solid as well it's very suited for funk and jazz styles but dosen't carry that unmistakable hollow sound.

  • @musmin7

honestly unless you are playing like heavy heavy metal than i love semi hollows, nice rich resonance that can come through even with good amounts of gain, you might lose a bit of sustain though

  • Awesome review. Just wondering what were some of the clean songs you were playing, if any at all?

  • thanks for the comment.

the intro and at 6:13 I was playing this christmas (donnie hathaway) and at 00:51 I was playing we got that magic (Robin thick) the other stuff was just some chords and licks to demostrate the sound.

  • the gibson lp is the one i am going to trade in as it is so heavy and i have other gibson lps and gibsons i play more. i like the extra tone knob on the lp to be honest with you could do without the rediculous weight

  • how is the versatility?

  • this guitar can be used in almost any style with the right amp and settings but it's not really heavy or thick on the bottom end the pickups on my av1 are rounder and thicker like you might find on a Lp but the guitar really sounds nice for it's price point .

  • thanks for the review, I am considering trading in one of my gibsons for a prs custom 22 or 24, would you suggest that?

  • the custom 22 or 24 is a totally diff monster than this guitar this is a six hundred dollar axe compaired to a 2 grand axe so compare them side by side from the same amp with no effects I think the prs will win you won't be able to put it down so play that one last it will be stuck to your fingers and you can just carry it out the store LOL

  • wow this has a nice tone i love the kinda hollow ,swirling kinda growl it has....musmin, how do you transitio from guitar to keys to bass,or vice versa,? cause you play them all very proficently..

  • it does have a nice tone to it and the sound will change with the amp that you use ofcourse. I had the tone controls on the amp all set at center no boost or cut but just a slight change will do to tailor the sound to where you need it. put this though a black pannel and you'll never put it down. 2nd I started off with classical music playing violin and then moved to other instuments as I play now I always have a pic of piano keyboard in my head and use that as a ref for what I do . thanks
