  • that's pretty darn good!!! and yeah seventh grade seems a little young to be doing this kind of production, but whatever. not here to judge.

  • Isnt 7th grade a little young to be doing Sweeny Todd?

  • I know this is just because of their age, but, their voices are a bit high.

  • really good for the age group!!! also liked that they used the blocking from the 1982 play

  • You did a really good job with the singing!!! Well done!

  • lol Thank you for not going Johnny Depp Sweeney Todd!!!!!!!!!

  • @Wigevil That could be because this was 2 years before the movie came out :P

  • actually, a lot better than i was expecting. for such a young group, there is quite a lot of prescense. Only critiques are that would be that there should not be so many people on stage at once if only a few sing. the voices get lost in the crowd. also, the choreography seemed a little... "ok, we were told to move here, so we're going to" . something i expect from a high-school age and under group, but a little upsetting since the presence of character is so good everywhere eles

  • that was great!

  • Awesome!

  • Pretty good. But sounded way too young.

  • Great performance! I really liked the pit orchestra :D

  • first high school production of a musical which i find good!!!

  • Nice production, the singing is off at bits though....like the first line.

  • Wow. that was incredible!!

  • Wow the music is just brilliant, it's like there a prescense or something! Anyway! I thought that was really good, accents were great, good atmosphere created, although on the bars up to the counter meoldy I felt the chorus was pushing the tempo and a few more of the chorus deadly serious like the rest would have improved. Well done!

  • I agree, it's very haunting.

  • I think for effeect when Sweeney comes in you should have had a slower head turn to him. Not as much as a flick of the head

  • This production lacks the energy needed for such a strong show. The cast looks bored onstage, as opposed to menacing. Also, great job emulating the 1982 touring cast's blocking step for step.

  • They did a better job than some 'professional' productions of this play, however.

  • @urbanmyth169 actually when i was directed in this show, we were directed to look blank. and therefore neutral. as not all characters in this show are menacing. so its not just these kids. give them a break, they did a good job.

  • whtas the name of the girl who sings he kept a shop in london town ?

  • sweeney todd is a very challenging play to do and i think you guys did it very well!!!

my school is doing it next and im so excited to start working on it

  • i wish my school was doing sweeny. but there very good:)

  • I like everybody but Sweeney. If hes Asian there is no disrespect meant by this comment (I have a younger sister from China) but it seems to me he is like squinting the whole time =/

  • oh wow. =] this is awesome.

  • Wow, they sound great!!!!!!

  • great musical

  • that's amazing!! i would simply LOVE to see the whole thing. Couldn't you, like, post the whole musical? please

    please

    please

    pretty please!!

pity i can't rate more than 5 stars... you deserve at least 1782957012, if not more.

    :p

  • my favorite song, i was sad when it wasnt in the movie :( u did so amazing at this? did u ever get to play Ms Lovett?

  • i meant "u did so amazing at this!" not "?"

  • there's no sound

i checke to see if it was on mute, and its not...why is it silent?

  • its not. something must be wrong with ur computer

  • i fixed it, somehow my "youtube volume meter" was switched off....like wtf!

    awesome tho guys!!!! seriously!!!!

  • i fixed it, memeber?

  • that's what what I thought,it's one of the best songs of the show

  • wow. Amazing! Great job. I've seen a lot of terrible school plays (and one's they put on youtube and so) this is nothing like it. simply amazing. the filming and that make it seem professionally done (ya I now I can't spell) I would watch this whole play if it were avaiable. Especially by these students

  • wow, good job on this you guys!

  • DEAN!!!

  • my school is doing sweeney todd as their play this year. im in it. i got into the chorus. im in the opening. probably the same as u were =]

  • wow they did a great job!

  • O Very Good For 7th And 12th Graders It Is Soo Amazing!!

  • that was great... but sweeney could have been a little crazier like hearn did...

  • wasnt great. by all means i liked it. very nice. but it doesnt get my seal of awesomeness. thts alrite. great job though

  • wow, just, wow. this is amazing for that age group.

  • can you please upload the sweeney todd final? because you did a great job on the opening^^

  • that was pretty fantastic, we're going to sing that in chorus at a concert

  • Sweeney is good

  • Love how they are reminiscent to the 1983 production with George Hearn and company. That wasn't a bad choice for Sweeney, either.

  • WOW! really good!

  • this is really good!!!

  • this wuz awesome!!!! i wuz just in a camp where one of the numbers i did wuz this one. they most likely did it like the actual show. No offense, but i think ours wuz creepier lol

  • I agree with most everyone- this is quite impressive!! I tell ya, if my highschool had done Sweeney Todd, I'd have been first in line to audition *cries*

Though, middle schoolers....I think are a little young for the subject matter ^^'' Perhaps not, but I know when I was in grade 7 Sweeney Todd would have scared the shit out of me XD

  • They have done very well. I just finished watching the uploaded Broadway version, and this is a reasonable attempt. :)

  • That was really good!

  • MORE!!!

  • It's really good.

And for students its nearly genius^^

    Very good job.

  • This is a great production.

Could you upload the renditions of the "Final scene" (Todd & Lovett in the bakehouse) & "By the sea"?

  • Eh. I've seen better.

  • These are some pretty good 7th-12th graders.

  • the drama teacher was considering doing this play thanks to my prompting but as it turns out im switching schools. :(

  • HOLY SHIT THATS JACOB! i know the guy in the middle wearing the hat and has a brown shirt underneath the coat. thats kinda wierd...

  • good, but they did not seem very interested or emotional considering the movie itself. Overall an A- considering its all students

  • God you are full of shit!!!

  • Well done!

  • Really good! Especially for students! Congrats!

  • The ensemble wasn't very strong...about half of the kids didn't look at all interested in being on stage.

  • oh my gosh! that was amazing for kids your age!

  • there voice at the swing ur razor wide part was good but others soungded like a REALLY fake british accent

  • sweeney todd isnt asian damnit

  • hahahahaha... true.. he has the perfect tone of voice, though...

  • This is really cool.. I hope my school next year will perform this xD I was in the make up crew for our school's previous performance: Wonderful Town..

  • our choir is singing this song

  • the body creeps me out.

  • That was FANTASTIC! I hope my school get's to do this next year.

  • the voices sound incredible, but i feel like the music director should have increased the pace a bit.

and agreed, the boy who played sweeney hhad an amazing voice!

  • I wish our school did this. Hell, we almost did Rocky Horror but our Shakespeare-addicted director quashed the idea, even though everyone else approved.

  • good gosh! if we tried RHPS our director would be drawn and quartered!

  • Wow! That was great! I think I actually got chills at one point.

Whoever played Sweeney had a VERY good voice.

    5 stars!!!

  • Wow! That's really good, especially for a high school production! I wish my high school could have been brave enough to do Sweeney Todd.

  • This is very nice!

  • my school is considering doing this show when i'm a junior ;D

  • wow! they are all very talented!

  • bravo dears good luck on broadway you all have a great carrer ahead

  • these are 7th - 12th graders? incredible!!

  • THAT WAS AWESOME!!! amazing job, really really good, all my compliments!!!

  • That was really well done! So mature sounding for such a young cast! I loved this.

  • That was FRICKIN incredible! Especially for such a YOUNG cast!

Gold stars for all of you.

  • that's a REALLY mature sound for a young cast!! great job!

  • was that sweeney todd that they put in the oven? Just curious

  • Yes

  • wow, that was excellent!!!!

  • one of those guys is a GIANT! but still, its a great vid. Thanks!

  • Cool. Nice and clear, and you manneged to catch the proper mood behind the song. You know, somthing that srort of hints at somthing that's dark and a mistry. It's a better job then some of the grown-up performences I've seen of this. Good work.

  • do you have videos of the epihany, johanna trio, judges johanna, if you do please upload them

  • Very nice.

  • WOW! This is incredible for a High School production!

  • I'm playing Mrs Lovett in our school's production of the Bond play (the play that inspired Sondheim to write the musical!) I wish to Gid we were doing the musical, but my Drama teacher hates them, but we're doing the next best thing!

    You guys rule, officially!

  • omg that was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am so jealous!! i wish we were doing sweeney! we're doing some weird thing ive never heard of lol

  • Just want to add this song gave me the chills.

    Excellent Job!

  • Wish we did Sweeney!

We're doing Alice in Wonderland, and I'm the Queen of Hearts.

    YOU GUYS=AWESOME.

  • post the whole thing! this is great! i love the fact that its a high school production. just goes to show there are alot of good talents at that age. again great job!

  • OMG!!! WE'RE GONNA DO THIS SONG AT OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL! :D

Sorry, jsut thought that was cool ^^

    That was really awesome!!

  • song or show?

  • I think we're going to to do four of the songs, but I doubt we're gonna do the whole show. Unfortunatley...T~T lol XD

  • Wow that was cool. I wish I could do that play. Because I am into theater too

  • very impressive for high school

  • Very nice. :) That music wasn't being played live, was it?

  • all live, they were awesome

  • Very nice indeed.

  • They could have at least sang this over the end credits of the movie...

  • Pretty frigging spectacular for a high school production.

  • wow thats good

  • That was very good! You should really post some more clips of this performance!

  • my school is currently doing "BatBoy the Musical." opening night is January 30!! i am stage manager! i am so nervous about it! my teacher said that he was gonna do this musical but said we couldn't because its on broadway and its illegal. aw well, im still going to see Sweeney Todd when it comes to Houston in June!!

  • The vocals were very good. I wish you could use a more "original" set for your school. Tremendous job though keep up the good work!

  • Wow, what school do you go to?

But about the music, I have a hunch that it's the original cast recordings playing and everybody singing along with it, except for the solos. The chorus parts sounded way too rounded out for the twenty or so people up there.

But this looks very professional. Once again, WHAT SCHOOL DO YOU GO TO? (Because I want to go!)

  • Whoops nevermind. It is a live orchestra.

    XD

  • it's not a school. it's a theater company for kids 7th-12th. i was the beadle. lol.

  • jniner94**

  • WTF is that suppossed to mean mrs EFRON??

  • do you have worst pies in london?

  • THAT SO WASN'T ME!! I SWEAR!! It' was my older brother who just did that becos he's pissed i like Johnny Depp more than him!! Believe me or not but i really think Johnny is one of the best actors in the world. I love all his movies like Edward Scissorhands!!

  • Way to be polite. I'm so happy that the world is made up of such pleasent people. I hope you're humiliated, as you should be.

I do not think that I'm the only one who would choose a TALENTED actor over youself.

  • wASN"T ME (i swear!!)

  • dude, your stupid.

  • MY BAD. WASN"T ME

  • UGG! I wish my school would do this musical. i requested to do it, but they said it wouldnt be appropriate for school. I'm like. No way! All my friends agree w/ me!

  • Wow! Very good! When I read the description and it said "7th-12th Graders" I'm thinking, "Just a normal, mediocre youth production". But I was wrong! Very good! Especially considering it's not even adults.

  • very professional, very good. :)

  • Very impressive. This music requires a careful approach and is of great sophistication. The orchestra (assuming it is live) sounds really very good - this music is very hard. Sounds like the principals have good pipes, which is essential. Curious to see/hear more.

  • y cant my school do this

  • how is it done on stage when the narrators crowd up in a bundle, and then suddenly sweeney appears out of thin air? was the actor hiding behind the oven?

  • Yes, he was.

  • Agh I wish my school would do this musical. You guys did do a really good job.

  • this looks like a really great production! I'm auditioning for a production of Sweeney in June, set for curtain in August. I'm even more excited now!

  • Do you have any clips of Sweeney singing?

  • they were really good to be 7th through 12th graders.

i hope my school does this

  • Cracking sopranos!

  • I would really like to see the number "My Friends" Judging by the performance from this and God that's Good, I'd really like to hear it. If you don't mind.

5 Stars...great job to you and your fellow cast members

  • I really wish my school would do this play. Its really good but....of cousre being catholic... =(

  • But Priest is a good seller....and so ummm there is a perfectly good reason to do this show.

  • ohh I know...I had a typo there I meant being in a catholic school but instead put beign catholic. sorry about that. Yeah I know that but my school would never do a play like that. they say its *sinning against god" *rolls eyes*

  • tell ur school it's just a play. it's like saying a play is sinning is just like saying Anthony Hopkins enjoys cannabalism

  • Very impressive for a high school. (My own high school did a non-musical version of this, and I was the judge ^^) I don't think the Sweeney for your play looked very much the part and he looked a little...bored almost.

  • WOW! That's reaaaally impressive!! Great job!

  • oh this is sooo good!

im in my school production of a "seussical" but this sounds much more interesting!

i love the plot to this story.

  • 5 Towns?

  • Amazing job!

  • SOOOOO COOL!!!!

i wish my high school did musicals.

    so ghetto my school.

half the student population hates or knows nothing of musicals.

    so junk.

  • i wish my high school would do musicals. period.

  • it's not intense enough!!!

  • very impressive for a high school level production, the instrumental version of this song accompanies the opening titles of the Tim Burton film of Sweeney Todd that opens on Friday.

  • Wow!! That was fantastic! I'm so impressed...I wish my high school could do musicals that well.

  • WOW!!!!!!!! for high schoolers and younger, that was amazing!! seriously, i just saw the show, and harmonies are spot on- and they're reallllly hard!!! Congrats to all- do you have more vids from this? if you do, can you post them? i'd like to see the rest of their show!

  • On a par with the best professional productions that I've seen through the years.

Your cast and orchestra deserve much praise for a really excellent job.

  • Wow. This is quite an undertaking for such a young cast. The music and harmonies are extremely complex, not to mention the dark tone of the production. But for your age range, you guys pulled it off pretty well. This is a hard musical to perform with even experienced singers.

  • Wow, they did an amazing job! Especially for the age range. I wish my youth theater program would do fun musicals like Sweeney Todd.

  • Some of the voices aren't mature enough for the piece since it requires Baritone/Bass but it very good. You have great harmony. Sweeney Todd is great

  • pretty goodfor 7th graders... i didnt like ow much it was like the origional DVD though!

  • I don't get it.

  • Very nice. By the way who was filming this? They did a not half bad job.

  • The chorus is wonderful, and the voices are nice and strong. Sondheim is tough for anyone to handle, let alone kids, so kudos to them!

  • amazing orchestra! and good effort for the age! What a show to do with kids...

  • looks good as is, but its the exact staging from the angela lansbury and george hearn version from the 80s. i would liked to have seen a little something new. even your sweeney carries himself in the same way. it IS good, don;t get me wrong, its much better than i would have expected, but there is a saying that a good mimic os not a good actor, and frankly i appreciate creativity :D

seriously though, great job you guys :)

  • I agree.

One thing I didn't like about this theater company (which was awesome and did great things for me when I was younger) is that the productions weren't that innovative. But proffesionalism was definetly a priority, and I think that is rare in youth theater group.

Since I've left some of the shows they've done have taken a more original approach.

    Thanks for watching!

  • This is quite good for such a young cast (not that I should be talking, I'm in 11th grade). However, those who didn't bother practicing the difficult jumps dragged everyone else down when they missed. I would've maybe gotten a few more background choir singers just for certain parts in the song, since the younger people can't quite give it the boom it usually has.

  • Wow that was really great! It reminded me of the production I saw about a month ago with adult actors. I wish my school was doing Sweeney Todd...maybe next year :D

  • i love sweeny todd

    you guys were awesome!

  • Wow they got to do Sweeney Todd. Man I'm jealous. You know for that age group they did really well. Thanks for sharing.

  • WOw! that was very impressive. hard to believe these are 7th - 12th graders. Thanks for posting.

  • What a fantastic production! Very impressive for high school students. Thanks for sharing. Wow, you guys can really sing! Will have to check out the rest. -Debbie
