if you want to know how to draw a flame, i suggest you light a nice little camp fire (or bon fire.... their fun) and watch it burn, and observe and draw what you see/feel.... from the fire's small crackles and sparks to its warming and awesome colors dancing in the wind... and of corse the slow burning dark coals that linger before the flame dies....

and if you can get all that in one drawing

its gotta b art

Once you feel confident enough on paper, move onto fine line tape to lay them out, totally different.
