Yeah, you get a good sound...But, exactly what sound are you wanting? And be honest...You pick any of the top drum companies and their top of the line kits are so right up there with DW that its impossible to just hear a kit being played that has been properly tuned and being able to name the kit without seeing it or knowing who the drummer is ( many top drummers have endorsements to different drum companies )

The big key factor is tuning. DW does something that other manufacturers don't do. They match resonances/drums in their kits. Like any drum kit, there is a region, key, etc where the drums sound best. There is a huge difference between shell thicknesses, heads, hardware, etc. Only after you have been around a while and have developed an ear can you really find what you like. Making blanket statements reveals is indicative of experience.
