  • Why doesn't she sing opera anymore?? Now she turned into a crappy "pop" singer, just like everyone else.

  • She may not have sung it with Pavarotti, but she did sing it with Domingo. would have been nice 2 hear them, but this is probably the best we're gonna get. Thanks 4 posting :-)

  • WHY IS SHE SHOWING SIDE BOOB?!?!

  • they are both great - <3 <3

  • Shes a scummy whore. If Pavarotti tells you what to do you do as you're damn told, he has the right to be a diva, and she doesn't because shes a welsh chav who somehow has talent she doesnt deserve.

  • oh dear.

  • It would have been amazing to hear them do duet. I would have loved to hear them do Ave Maria together.

  • haha at most of the comments below...

As if the voice of an ANGEL (clearly given her by god) is scared of a fat pig (her words but rightly so) upstaging her.....No. If you google the story, you will see what REALLY happened. Her voice is one in a life time...

  • You have to get the story right, Pavarotti wanted her to sing the Mezzo-Soprano role because She is a MEZZO-SOPRANO not a SOPRANO. She got offended because Pavarotti, with his great musical ear, identified her voice as being a MEZZO.

  • @madvlad1 I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. Did you actually compare her voice to his? And if you did, are you saying hers is superior? Have you heard him? I mean actually heard him in a decent audio recording. He is widely regarded as the greatest tenor ever - many consider him to be greatest singer since music was first recorded.

The arrogant little diva should have been grateful for the oppertunity-period.

  • And have good taste as well.

  • Yes, that's right. The greatest singer ever was scared of being upstaged by Charlotte Church.

  • If he wasn't afraid of being upstaged by Sutherland, Caballe, Freni, Battle or Tikanawa [to name but a few], I think, no, he was not afraid to be upstaged by Charlotte Church.

Nor to my knowledge did any of them find him difficult to work with.

I think it was not long after this he said there was no such thing as a child prodigy in this profession and Church's career has proved him right.

Were she not so photogenic, she would have vanished from the public eye years ago.

  • My initial reply was wholeheartedly sarcastic!! :-)

  • I know- I was agreeing with you.

  • At least we're both safe in the knowledge that we're sane!!

  • Well maybe he went pee backstage and didn't bother to lift the seat then and hence her remarks to the world, to warn the others.

  • This so called "angel voice" is rather evil. She did call Pavarotti fat pig because she wanted performed in a soprano role when she was really a Mezzo. Just google: Charlotte church called pavarotti Pig" and you can find the article. She will never get close to a toe of Caballe or Sutherland, so why il Maestro Pavarotti would be afraid of her little and insignificant voice?

  • @operapimp good on her, he was a fat pig... too big an ego couldn't handle being upstaged by our little charlotte...

  • @junkybabes Surely you are taking the piss?? :s

  • @foltano nope...i think classical music is wank and the only people who really go to listen to a performance are pompous snobs... charlotte has a cracking voice... but apart from that she's like most i know...

  • @junkybabes You are saying Pavarotti was afraid of being upstaged? Sure he was shitting himself, I mean look at her career, going very well when she was just singing, but alas. she smoked too many ciggies, released shitty pop album that bombed, followed by shit TV shows. Did pavarotti have to sell out?? Church can sing dont get me wrong but she should have concentrated on that because now she has a bad public image. The only way she could hope of upstaging anyone would be to get her beaver out.

  • And if you think people who listen to classical music are all pompous snobs thats very closed minded and ignorant. Same as if I were to jump to a conclusion and say that you are a little fucking robbing smackhead, due to your youtube name 'junkybabes'. Vile.

  • @foltano yeah i did have a drug habit... but never went out robbing or am i little... in fact i'm a lawyer who dabbled with substances... but thats because i'm a child of the chemical generation and thats how we lived... not all smack heads are robbing bastards... eric clapton? no, elton john? don't think so... some smackheads are thieving cunts...

  • @foltano add this to my last coment... but not all junkies are, your right I am being close minded... but why are you so worried about what i think of pavarotti? did you know him? why do you care? i bet he was a bossy egotistical cunt... all he can do is sing, so what... but in my opinion i'd prefer to go out for a drink with charlotte, she's a good laugh, i imagine he was a spoilt uptight twat... but thats just my opinion... don't let nit bother you...

  • @junkybabes It doesn't bother me I think we are all entitled to opinions, even retarded ones defending some welsh slag whos too big for her boots. Each to their own. Some people just have no taste or clue about music.

  • @foltano i agree i don't have any taste in music... thats probably why i don't feel like kissing pavarotti's ace or charlotte's, i just like the fact she's from a not so well off background and didn't take any shit from him... i don't think she's a slag though... but to be honest i don't really care what people think of here... i doubt she cares what people think about me...

  • @jenni4claire she's had kids... thats why she's not concentrated on her career... she'll be back... she was 15 and pavarotti was acting like a big fat bully to a kid...

  • You have to get the story right, Pavarotti wanted her to sing the Mezzo-Soprano role because She is a MEZZO-SOPRANO not a SOPRANO. She got offended because Pavarotti, with his great musical ear, identified her voice as being a MEZZO.

  • I don't recall ever reading anything nasty being said by him about her, though.

I assume if she ever grows up,she will look back on her missed opportunity and kick herself for the rest of her days.

  • Well the thing was, why wouldn't he do the duet of O Holy Night? Why did he insist on some other piece you see.

O Holy Night is like a signature song for operatic singers, especially the tenors, and I think it was simply that he didn't want to be upstaged by a girl.

And lots of people knew, that the request had been made that they do O Holy Night, and well lots of people knew as well that he refused to do it. So Charlotte does not feel bad, she isn't the one who chickened out.

  • @rick155555 you're spot on...

  • @rick155555 ?????????????????????????????????

Ok, so i dont usually post comments on youtube or get involved in debates,

but i feel compelled to do so in this instance... Pavarotti being upstaged by charlotte church?

Did you actually say that? c'mon... Pavarotti was quite possibly the finest tenor to ever grace this planet. Charlotte church, albeit she had a nice voice when she was younger, wasn't (and i cant see her ever being) even in the same league as the great meistro's.

  • They di dhave the chane at one of i benefit concerts to duet together- she rehearsed the wrong bit , refused to do the bit he prepared, and he said 'then you don't sing with me' and she called him a pig in an interview in the popular press.

    Charming girl, Charlotte.

I never rated her as a singer, and rather less so as a person.

  • Primadonnas.

    lol

I had asked then to do O holy Night but well you know he didn't want to be upstaged.
