0:35 through 0:43 does not look right. your feet are very sickled and you could probably hurt yourself. i know this was a while ago so im sure you have learned now that you shouldnt do things like that.
i am starting ballet in the summer. if i would have stuck with ballet when i was six i would lol prob be in better shape and i would have been on point for a long time yea isnt it like 4-5 years to be on point or can you go straight to point?
@catiemaystamper technically you could go straight to pointe, although it is extremely risky and not at all recommended. You need wayy more time in ballet to strengthen your legs, ankles, and feet before going on pointe.
I live in New Jersey, and I want to go on point. I'm 5 foot 7inches. But, i weigh a little more than I should. How much should I weigh to be on point!? Can you give me any advice or tips for loosing weight???
first of all your pointe shoe tying looks unprofessional tuck in your ribbons and elastic and cut the ribbon to wear the end stops in the back of the inside of each foot and then tuck that in i always tie it under where the other ribbons have been tied so i can tuck it up instead of down. it works for me try it are those capezios?
That looks really good for only having done pointe for 4 days! I would suggest that you practice putting more weight on your big toe, because you are sickling, try really lenghing your big toe in the shoe!
I'm doing pointe for about 5 years now and I know it's hard at the beginning (and not only at the beginning^^) you should work on your turn out & make sure you're standing on your big toes, too. otherwise you could hurt yourself. your first position is not perfect & you should look after your 5th position which is actually a 3rd :D and FLUTTER! (1:22 it's too slow & a little bit klutzy) it has to look easy! strangesugarfairy was right: YOUR RIBBONS.....but all in all. That was good. 4 days. wow.
you need to work on your tourn out......and...be sure to go on your big toe,i know it is hard, but if you want to be a ballerina its very important!!! Find some good ballerina to watch, and learn....you cant learn ballet just on your classes.....best wishes!!!!!!!!
you should try to stand on your big finger(i am from serbia,i dont now how to say that)because you are standing on your little finger and it is really really bad :-)
To break your shoes in, try soaking them in water. Some try hitting them against the floor or with hammers. Or even burning them. This is overkill. Just soak them.
Expect some bleeding and some things like Athlete's foot, hangnails, aches, soreness, bunions, blisters, warts and whathave you. Embrace these. They mean you are becoming a professional ballerina. Sacrifice can be a beautiful thing.
These marks are a sign of honor, will and strength.
erm... but soaking them in water can ruin the paste and such that makes up the hard structure in shoes, that allow you to stay en pointe. soaking them can also discolor the satin, plus, it's unsafe to test it out after you've saoked them. breaking them in by slamming them around is overkill, yes, but gently manipulating the satin and shanks will work just as good, if not better.
in Rambe de Jambe you have to pointe and furn out your feet and in boray your knees are staright and when you jump from fith to ashapay dont turn in your feet. Good for only 4 days
It's not really good for you to do pointe at home - it's better to do in the presence of a experienced teacher who knows pointe better than a student. But just to give you some advice - it is NOT a good idea to break in your pointe shoes very fast, because if you do it wrong, you can injure yourself, and it won't build any strength in your ankle.
She's lying, no good teacher lets their student do anything after 4 days with no arms on. I've had my pointe shoes for a month and they have just started being dead.
i agree with majestic toaster on the ':35' thing. if u want 2 stretch like that, cross ur left foot over ur right so ur thighs r crossing and just plie your right leg. then other side. but bloch's are actually better for beginners to pointe! I still use bloch (well actually they're CUSTOM made blochs...but w/e)
my pointe shoes died this week, and i have to get new ones, my current (and dead) ones are grishko's 2007's. does anyone have a favorite brand i should try?
well, first of all, tie your shoes in the right place, and when you stretch like that at around 00:37.. you're going to have serious ankle problems if you continue like that. you're sickling and you can get tendonitis and tear something.
oh my lord! you're scaring me there at 00:25. you'll break your ankle! and when you tie your point shoes, make sure they're tied tightly in the right spot on your ankle. if they're tied wrong you could get tendonidis and if they come untied, well, you can guess what would happen ;)
At :35 your going to break your ankle, don't do that!, At about 1:10 get your feet in fifth. Ribbons in and point your feet. It was ok for only being on for 4 days. I've been on pointe for 5 years, so i know what im talking about.
your abrill dancer but you have to keep your fetts realy strong i have been doing ballet for 7 years now and im not even that good but keep your feet strong
At my ballet school, you should tuck your ribbons in at the BACK of your ankle so when you turn your feet out you can't see the bump from the tucked-in ribbon. Also, remember to stand on your big toe and not the back of the shoe. Rosin helps if you slip!tuck your ribbons in and your drawstrings please! they are buggin me! Otherwise, you look great for four days!
Ribbons should be tied and tucked in at your inner ankle. When I was with the Louisville Ballet we would be fined (real money) if our ribbons came untucked during a performance. We actually sewed them in place before the performances. If you want to look professional, tuck all that stuff in.
you are way better than I was when I first started just make sure to not sickle your feet and tuck in your drawstrings and ribbons, its driving me crazy!
For only being en pointe for a few days, you're doing very well. Just remember not to jump onto your toes and point through your tendus and ran de jambe. It will get easier as your shoes start breaking in. And don't forget your turn out. Everything you've learned so far still applies... it just gets harder to manage when you're balancing on your toes. :)
ok put your feet in second do a demi plie and then stay down with bent knees and flip over onto ur points keeping ur ankles really strong and ur back straight also try putting your feet straight and just doing rises going through demi pointe and using ur feet as much as u can DONT do the thing where u stand on the inseide of ur foot my friend damaged her ankle doing that!!
Put more weight on your big toes, not your pinky's. It's important to know that standing on your foot and artificially breaking in your shoes is not healthy or a way to strengthen your feet
stendi le gambe, tira le punte e stai attenta quando fai i relevé ke metti male i mignoli e rischi ke ti si storge il piede!!! .. qst sn solo consigli per migliorarti!!! bAcIoNiSsIMI aNbEtA!!
wow good job for being on it for four days!!! wow!!! im not on ponite yet! but i have a question ive always wonderd. does pointe feel like your on your toes, or is it like more comferatable?
good for only 4 days but u need to tuck ur ribbons on the inside, tuck in ur drawstring so u dont trip and get turnout and some good fifth position. dont sickle! :]
Don't sickle your feet on pointe or on flat! You are pushing over wayy too much and you'll hurt yourself if you're not careful. Also, turn your feet out. They look terrible the way they are. Turn your feet out on pointe and don't sickle! You can hurt your feet since your new at pointe! NEVER sickle your feet and ALWAYS turn them out!
u r really good, but ur ribbons are too long and wen u do ur echappes, i think you can use ur turnout more!!!!!!!! well done tho, considering this was only after 4 days!!!!!! :)
tuck in your ribbons and leastics.. but otherwise very VERY food :)

A few tips:
-DON'T WEAR BLOCH'S! They're not made well! (I'm assuming that you're wearing bloch's? They look like bloch's to me..)
-Tie the ribbons further down..by your ankle and tuck the ends in.
-You should NEVER EVER DO WHAT YOU DID AT 00:35 EVER AGAIN!
If you need to break your shoes in, bend them around the barre..or bend them in a door.
But for 4 days, that was good.

MythicalMermaid246 3 years ago
tuck in your ribbons and elastics, close ur fifth all the way, and ur sickiling just a little bit but awesome job for 4 days
pointeshoesandballet 3 years ago
good for only 4 days but u need to tuck ur ribbons on the inside, tuck in ur drawstring so u dont trip and get turnout and some good fifth position. dont sickle! :]
xballetloverx 3 years ago
Don't sickle your feet on pointe or on flat! You are pushing over wayy too much and you'll hurt yourself if you're not careful. Also, turn your feet out. They look terrible the way they are. Turn your feet out on pointe and don't sickle! You can hurt your feet since your new at pointe! NEVER sickle your feet and ALWAYS turn them out!

pretty good for 4 days. [:
but like everyone is saying,
make sure you tuck in those strings
or cut them off.
