Awesome match. This match was replayed on FSN, but originally, it aired live in 2006 on NBC. I saw this when it happened and the whole match was the best Manhattan Open I have ever seen and I have seen several of them when guys like Karch, Sinjin, and Stoklos played in them. Phil takes it off the face in game 1 and he/Rogers barely win 22-20. Phil takes in off the face again in game 2 and Lambert/Metzger barely win 23-21. Now we go to game 3 and even more amazing stuff happens.

In game 3, the teams trade points back and forth again. Then, around 10-10 or so, Rogers (the shortest guy of the 4), gets stuck at the net, but completely blocks (and I mean rejects) a HARD driven ball by Lambert. Then, a few points later, Rogers gets stuck at the net again, Lambert gets a perfect set, but gets rejected by Rogers again. Lastly, at 14-11, Dalhausser serves a roaring jump serve that hits the tape a falls over for the match, but the best part is. . .

Metzger goes to pick up the ball, but Lambert motions to him to hand him the ball. Lambert takes the ball and punts it either into or over the stands just behind him.

But HXES is right, Lambert is amazing. It's too bad that his injuries will never let us see him and Metzger push Dalhausser and Rogers again. They were the only team that seemed to be able to take multiple events from those guys. They were the only team that kept them from being the May/Walsh team on the men's side.

actually guys, it really isn't whether Lambo meant to hit it off Dalhaussers head or not. There are some plays, also depending on whether Lambert thinks the line is open or the angle is open. Apparantly Lambert thought that Dalhausser was going to block angle, and in doing so, the line would've been open and Lambert went for line. Unfortunately for Dalhausser, he blocked line too and didnt close out his arms fast enough.

You're right... the only one who's right here. It happens sometimes in beach volley this kind of block. He didn't want to block with his face. He only decided to block the line AND the angle, letting the "zone 6". It never happens in indoor volleyball but it's normal for the beach. Respect to him

well tecnically getting hit in the face souldnt happen. especially with dalhausser. he can get almost 90 degree penetration and the fact that both of those didnt go straight down off the block is beyond me. but also you may notice lamber hits htem both straight at phil. usually beach is all about avioding the block with tips or hard angle. but i said that "they say" he ment to do it i dotn think so because most of these guys are good friends
