  • I would have proceeded in thempty opposing lanes. No risk of collision because drivers are looking right at you and see you early from a distance. They have time to change lanes to the right lane.

I am alwaysurprised when I come to impassable conjestion that drivers manage to clear a path so well.

  • @robertgift lol no risk of collision when going in the opposite lane in a tunell??

btw it would have been possible to do so anyway, theere's a high median barrier (you see it at e.g.1:37)

  • @EnjoyFirefighting You will see trafficoming directly at you. They will see you coming directly athem. You both slow, each go to youright and pass each other. I have done it countless times.

You cross over b e f o r e the median barrier starts. I have crossed over before median started because all lanes of traffic ahead where backed up. No problem. Just a little inconvenience for opposing moving trafficompared to backed up vehicles in your lanes trying to move and maneuver and notouch.

  • @robertgift on roads like this the median is often continuous. We here sometimes do go in the opposing traffic lane, but just when there's a good view. Another alternative we sometimes use when traffic is backed up is that we drive onto the sidewalk (well not possible in a tunnel). What we also just can't do is going in the opposing lane of a highway, unless traffic has been completly stopped on the oncoming lane.

And here in the vid tha ambulance actually wasn't that slow for that much traffic

  • @EnjoyFirefighting You are right. This ambulace DID make very good progress in the stopped traffic.

Unfortunate that it could not have used another route.

I have been amazed when impossibly blocked and jammed traffic was able to clear a path for our emergency vehicle. Often I wish I had "THANK YOU" in LED lights in the rear window to flash to thank those drivers.

  • This is an Dutch Firetruck dude

  • American ambulance would be too FAT to squeeze through.

Why not travel in the mostly empty opposing lanes to your left in the tunnel?

  • @robertgift cause going in the oncoming traffic lane in a tunnel isn't always the best solution. But first thing you said: so true! No way that US size vehicles would manage to go through there

  • All that for a chronic bowel obstruction

  • Impressive driving.

  • wow, I';m going a school trip to belgium soon and I really hope I see a belgium ambulance!

  • i like that belgium is kidnda mixed up with there sirens...they have america sirens and europeans

  • Not as good as some of your other 'bluelight' videos! Good coverage of the run - but a windscreen wiper across middle of the image!! Didn't you notice this or check out the view when setting up the webcam? But overall you have some good vids on here, thanks for sharing.

  • cool, I'm studying to become a paramedic later. I really like the medical Dept

  • ^^

Love to hear that! It's the best job on the planet earth :D:D

  • yes it is :) are you a paramedic?

  • No, paramedic is a higher level at school etc in Norway, but I'm studying too be an ambulance worke, when I'm that, I'm gonna become a paramedic :D

I've been with the ambulance and Red Cross ambulance several time, so I KNOW, that the job is the best in the whole world! !!! :D

  • @ambulansekim

Pulling a couple shifts on an ambulance won't give you the full story. Sure it's a fun job, but it gets annoying at times, especially in the middle of the night when you're trying to sleep and people are calling for completely bullshit reasons...

  • other siren? 3:59?

  • The traditional European hi-lo.

  • Two-tone

  • ca c'est près de la gare du midi...

  • Normally there are a max of 4 sirens on an Belgian Ambulance: wail, yelp, hi-lo and sometimes a Martin-Horn.

  • Hmmm we are not allowed to use our sirens in the Tunnels here in Aus, The echo is so loud that we managed to burst 3 workers ear Drums while they were working in the tunnell

  • no sos lane in tunnel is a deadly mistake

  • Comment removed

  • How many sorts of sirens did Belgium use? Martin horns, Dutch three-tone, American wail, yelp... I'm confused.

  • 7 of 8 sort of sirens, so if the ambulance driver is constatly changing sirens, then it will difficult for the drivers of the others vehicles he determine what kind of emergencyvehicle is coming towards them

  • though, it doesn't matter to know what kind of emergency vehicle is coming at them.

you're supposed to make way for all of them anyway :p

  • Ambulances use very often Martin horns in combination with a wail/yelp/hi-lo siren unit.

Police cars are 99% of the time equiped with Federal Signal Vama sirens (such as ICS2010 or AS430). Those have wail/yelp/two-tone(= hi-lo).

Fire Dept. uses nearly always two-tones (Martin horn).

  • hoe kom jij aan al die brandweer filmpjes in heel europa?

  • If that was an American ambulance you would still be in the tunnel.

  • Bigger isn't always better...

    :)

  • Exactly!

  • But their siren will make those vehicles felt obliged to make way for it.

  • Thats not much of a help if there is no place the vehicles could go, to make way for the ambulance.

  • @HJW018 If this was an American ambulance we would've went in the other lane :)

  • @garf1eld029

    Lol, nice.... :-D

  • @HJW018

Except not all of our ambulances are huge boxes.....way to stereotype....

  • @Rofocowboy84 It's not a stereotype, the majority of all our American ambulances are huge boxes which would not have made it through the traffic in that tunnel. And before you say what about the new euro style ambulances, those cant be counted because they came out after i commented on this video.

  • @HJW018

Actually, Sprinter ambulances have been out a lot longer than two years, which is when your comment was. I wasn't even referring to them though, I was referring to all Type II ambulances....

  • @HJW018 If it was in America, there wouldn't be a tunnel

  • @donttazemebro3434 there R tunnels in the USA dumb ass

  • @GayBoyRunning very few

  • @donttazemebro3434 well more compare to Australia..
