As much as I probably would have liked seeing Elaine's father more, it's probably better that he was just a one-off character. He works so well here, but I'm just not quite sure he would have worked as a semi-recurring character the way Frank and Estelle or Morty and Helen did.
Tierney sounds like a terror to work with. When he did an episode of The Simpsons, he was described as the craziest guest star they ever had on that show as well.
He played the security guard at the Shop-N-Save during a Christmas episode of the Simpsons. His voice is so distinctive that if you see the episode, you'll think of his Seinfeld character right away.
@hutch2818 I really love the audio commentary for that Simpsons episode, because they unanimously agree that he was the most difficult guest they ever had on the show and actually had to trick him into reading certain lines that he didn`t like.
@VerySeriousChannel I know. I actually had heard about that or read it somewhere. So when I heard the cast of Seinfeld also saying how nuts he was, it made me laugh.
It's funny to see how none of their mannerisms are anything like the characters they play, especially Elaine and Kramer, except Jerry. But then again Jerry is playing himself.
Are they playing up to Lawrence Tierney's on screen persona here - or was Tierney genuinely a bit ...how you say ... psychotic...lol? Please answer.

Apparently Tarantino also said that Tierney was extremely difficult to work with in Reservoir Dogs.

@Tony2826 He definitely could have but he was far too unstable to be invited back even once.
TheSkylur44 3 months ago
@Tony2826 That being said, I would have like to see him interact with Jerry and George's parents.

Ashamed he did that, it would of been great to have Elaine's father in more eposides becasue with him meeting her boyfreinds and such :)

Why the hell would they have sharpened knives laying around unsupervised?
LamontDaGrizzly 1 year ago
They were the props from Jerry's apartment set. I suppose he had to actually cut stuff up in some scenes, so they were sharpened.

Shows that today's stars aren't like the very cool people like L.T. of yesteryear. People are made of jello now.

haha that's right he was the security guard for Shop-N-Save, it's so obvious, but I just never really made the connection in my mind before.
Anyways this episode was hilarious.

That would've been great to have George's dad and Elaine's dad meet and swap war stories and wrestle afterwards in feats of strength.
