DO buy a hybrid which has a couple of inches clearance between you and the frame. If you buy anything higher than that you'll look and feel like you're on a Penny-Farthing.
Adjust your seat-post so that when seated and upright your feet dangle about 6 inches from the ground. As this is a hybrid bike, the best position for the handlebar height is so that you lean gently forward to reach them. Low handlebars are best for speed, high are best for comfort.
This was a good point, there is contact from the top bar when i stand, however the riding position feels great. Glad the bike shop didn't try to put me on a medium frame for that reason.
thank you thank you!!! I just bought a kona dew and found the smallest frame 45cm too small (I am 5' 3") sales guy said "great lots of clearance",I felt cramped on it. I went back when a old friend was working and tried a 49cm dew plus felt lots better so I ordered a 49 cm dr dew. this vid has assured me in my chose,as this is my first hybrid bike (all mtb and along time ago bmx).
So... Not too cramped up, but not too stretched out, eh?
I've seen a few of these videos, and I'm not so sure that their village is really full of experts...

I have the Trek 7100 bike (nice bike) and it was about $500. Of course I'm sure you could find some lesser value ones for $300 or so.

The guy didn't say anything useful. Most of what was said is common sense as opposed to actually what to look for.
This one is a waste.
