The main problem with postmodernists is that they are apolitical, they dont care about the radical change of the totality of social life but only about some changes at some certain institutions. I think that the world needs more thinkers like chomsky, castoriadis, debord and bookchin than those foucault, derrida and deleuze stuff.
I wish to question yr assertion re: postmodernists. While many may seem politically nihilistic (and I'm sure many are bohemian or hedonistic in bent) the underlying cynicism which informs post-modernism must surely qualify as a political stance, in the sense of the great Hellenist tradition of cynical philosophy. To presume that whoever is in power is inherently corrupt and therefore seeking to criticise/ignore or otherwise downplay that power is an inherently political act.
@EITrollo You dumb idiot,....That is Foucault you are talking about. The man whose work, who every arts and social science student in the world, have read at one point or another. I have not had a single class in which Foucault did not come up....clearly you are the uncivilized freak! what institution did you come out of???
@totallyprudent49 well, i'm intending to apply to chemistry department @ harward. i'm a brilliant student and i have only A's. i'm into real science though, not this "social and arts" shit. you guys need to stop chasing the smoke and come up with something measurable and workable. you need some firm ground and some system and method. otherwise it's all just empty talk, not unlike like this fuqeau egghead.
@EITrollo well, this "social science and art" stuff is really critical if you ask me. Otherwise, we have morons like you in the world, who can't string together a proper sentence. What in the world is Harward? I assume you mean Harvard? Even Harvard's chemistry department does not sink so low to admit people who can't spell and form proper sentences. And FYI, I myself am chemistry student as well! Not everything in the universe is quantifiable. First learn how to write sentences, then talk.
@totallyprudent49 no apologies yet? well, it's funny how you say "what institution did you come out of", as though institutions are what necessarily makes us "come out" one way or another. well, according to foucault they actually do, but that didn't prevent him from taking a power position in corrupted academic hierarchy so who is he to have a say in it.
We have no establishment within any social economic principles which within social consciousness is a very vast complexity which questions what any constitution may provision within any exemplification within any breadth for a physical world view. A world view is an all inclusive supposition within any physics within any union, which is why any current constitution within any union is only being predicated within any symbolization
Not a fan of anarcho-anything, but I get the basic idea.
Why not have some government programs run starting at the local level but within broader federations, not imposed by state or federal governments but entered into voluntarily at the local level?
I could see how such a thing could evolve slowly over time, eventually providing major social services more efficiently than state or federal governments.
I think the main difference is that Chomsky is politicized while Foucault is more into critical perspectives, for instance he has a good point at aiming for a recursive problem solver attitude instead of a defined and static political position.
Chomsky didn't speek french as Foucault didn't speek english, both were confortable on their own languages, by the way it was in Sweden if I'm no mistaken, it was about ideas not about making cheap diplomacy trying to speek each other languages. my humble opinion.
@DanteWhite DUDE YOUR A FUCKING RETARD I HAVE NO INTEREST IN DEBATING YOU. ANARCHY IS A JOKE, IT WILL NEVER EXIST, GET OVER IT ALL READY, COME BACK TO THE REAL WORLD AND GET A FUCKING JOB.
@DawgBlog well you must have your reasons to think anarchy is a joke and that it will never exist(it existed in spain during the civil war and in pre-soviet ukraine for 3 years, not to metion for most of the early history of man-kind most notably hunther-gatherer societies) but i guess ur just afraid to get owned in a debate so you resort to such immature responses and i have a job by the way and i dont work for the state or any private capitalist corporation
I find it interesting that Foucault has actually paraphrased Bakunin:
'He who makes plans for after the revolution is a reactionary.'

@totallyprudent49 nothing was grammatically wrong with any of my sentences. re-read them and apologize.
and i'ts spelled harward, not harvard you moron! it's the best university in the world so you better learn how to spell it!

@EITrollo The American Ivy League university of Harvard (harvard.edu) is spelled "Harvard".

But it would need to evolve first.
