After reading the comments on this clip I realize the movie worked,People are thinking and debating about the world we live in. It is when we stop doing this that we are truly doomed.
@evelsteev Realize that Democracy doesn't exist, that there is people who would do anything to get what they want and we placed them in high positions of power. After we realize that no matter how patriotic we are we are nothing but sheep, then we can take action: make the right decisions when voting (preferably if there is no good candidate just null the vote), start worrying more about our environment, stop supporting stupid wars, start educating ourselves and our children... etc etc.
@evelsteev If we had done it already, we wouldn't be in such a state of disma. Fight off that bully you see in your school, even if it means you'll have a broken nose or loose teeth, tell off somebody who throws trash on the street, report abuse when you see it, stop watching talk shows and read Aristotle, boycott places like Wal-Mart, don't support the War.. If we truly did that, we wouldn't be sheep. That is the action you must take. Not violence. Change your life, then change the world.
@akissy We have been wired to stand off when we see "danger", when we see something that "isn't our business". Everything is our business if it means we can save someone from being half killed, if it means our children won't have to deal with mountains of trash, if it means our grandchildren will live in a place where there is true democracy, where they can be free to speak their minds without censorship, where they work for a fair wage... You wanted answers, there they are, now go out and fight

@akissy not violence? then what's the difference? I don't watch TV or talk shows. I read Aristotle, but Nietzsche is MUCH more accurate and realistic. I can yell at people who throw trash on the street, but regardless, there are people all over the world, that no one sees, that still throw thrash on the street. Wal-Mart is still there, whether I hate them or not, even they employ people, and pay taxes. Not much has happened.
@evelsteev You're doing your part be happy you are. ^^ Tell others to do the same. It's a chain that you mus not break. You have changed your life, then change someone else's by talking to them and telling them the truth about the things they take for granted. Violence only brings more violence, and as humans we have been conformists for a very long time, don't expect thins to change in the next fifty years. o.o Also, Wal-Mart is a monolopy empire, but people in US have been able to stop it...
@akissy from spreading and killing all those small businesses from which sometimes entire families live off. Look it up, you can do it too if you care about it. It may pay taxes and employ people, but it kills other businesses that just can't compete with this monster. Also the wages paid there are miserable. o.o It's also taking over space in other countries, like mine. I'm from Mexico, and Wal-Mart has killed a lot of small businesses, I dunno why, Wal-Mart's quality and service sucks anyways.
@akissy And things HAVE changed, but as I said we have spent a lot of time being what we are, couch potatoes, don't expect it to be a magical change. How old are you? Your profile says you're 40, haven't you seen a change over the course of the years? I do and I'm 24. When I was 10 nobody cared for recycling, for example. Nobody reported domestic abuse because we all thought it was "normal", stuff like that. So things might change slowly, but they do. No I'm off to bed. We can continue tomorrow.

@evelsteev Everything takes time. And sure you can't make them act, but the information is there, if they don't care, walk up to the next person. ^^ Your negativism is somewhat amusing. ^^UU No offense but it is. If people thought like you, then women would still wear long skirts and be in the kitchen. XD
@akissy people have been trying to overthrow oligarchies for centuries. How much time does it take? Centuries? Millenia? The end of time? You have no concrete timetables. It's always some hazy, ballpark "soon" or "in the future." That's no different than religion, promising a rapture that will never come. It's not negativism so much as realism. Women can wear short OR long skirts? Who cares? Being in the kitchen is a bad thing? What if men are in the kitchen? What's the difference?
@evelsteev Nobody should be forced into a role, that's what I'm saying. I'm Bisexual, sometimes I take the traditional role of male, sometimes of a female, sometimes neither... If we were continued to be forced into a role, I would be dead by now. o.o Do I explain my point? And you're not realistic, my father is realistic and he boycotts Wal.Mart where we live, buys at a Mexican supermarket, at least we know the money stays within out own country. xD
@akissy not all roles are "forced" but mere biological constructs.Women, biologically, have the option to have children whether they do or not. But men can't, regardless. Not all roles would make us "dead." It depends on the situation.Boycotts haven't shut down all Walmarts,so in the meantime, the reality is,they're still here.Tell the thousands of Mexicans, working in the U.S.,that they still get taxed, so their money stays here as well. If change takes an eternity, then it's not working, is it?
@evelsteev I honestly doubt your age now. Socially the role of the housekeeper has been forced on a woman, until recently it was seen badly for a woman to have the same income as a man, did you know that? My mum comes from the generation who brought the sexual revolution, without it she would still be locked up at home under my father's thumb cleaning and cooking without having finished high school.
They haven't but will do so, the P&T episode is full of bs, No pun intended. cont.
@akissy They didn't have their facts right, but oh well.
And they know, all those Mexicans know. But not all their money stays here, they also send money to their families, I have a brother in law working there, and I used to have an uncle and an aunt working there as well. Do you think I don't know? I know a little but I know regardless. And change is eternal because we are always changing, there will always be something that bothers us, always.
@akissy I'm sorry, I didn't know we had robots or slaves to do house work. But seriously, whether it was forced or not, someone, be it man or woman, had to do the house work. It has to be done, pain and simple. I know plenty of women who chose not to conform to a role, even before the 70's. Simone De Beauvoir, for example. You also act like men never had to be drafted to fight in wars, and possibly die, against their will. Why do people ignore this? Cont.
@evelsteev@evelsteev It's funny how left wingers' facts are somehow better or more accurate than other parties' facts. But it sounds like the same old story: big corporations are evil and ominous, despite the fact that they employ people. Yet, reality marches on
@Attila226 You're joking right? What are you? 12? A lot of countries in America have gone through this, and will go through this in the years to come. Where's your head, cause certainly not on your shoulders.
this should really happen in London at the moment we have a hypocrite as our prime minister. But no one wants to be a terrorist i think of it as steal from the rich and give to the poor two words Robin Hood
What this is about is when you vote a government into power, vote the right people. Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words. A government body must make laws for the good of the nation and sometimes those rules may not please everyone but it works and the country. It enjoys success and peace and prosperity.
why do we should promote freedom of thoughts? we in the reality enjoy the similarity of thoughts and to of the masses. so that it easier to communicate and have conversation with other people. if everybody has their own thought structure without any elements of familiarity and similiarity, wars will be all over again. we must unite to form symbiotic outcome from this cruel and mutiprobability world. then we can have happiness. in my humble "perspective".
@scavengerrondz Your perspective is interesting, but a bit radical. You're suggesting to unite in symbiotic because we enjoy similarity of thoughts and masses. I agree that language isn't the best way to communicate, but that and our rationality differs us from animals. Ever since, different thoughts only improve our society while bringing new ideas to our conformism.
@scavengerrondz Without freedom of thought you wouldn't have a choice between a Mac or a PC, without freedom of though we wouldn't have all those currents of Philosophy available to us. We enjoy similarity of thoughts that is why people group together, but we also enjoy individuality, we like to be different, otherwise it would be extremely boring. Anyhow... same ideas = no progress.
How hypocritical for England to make a movie like that, or to allow a movie like that to pass, but yet at the same time FORBID, BAN, CENSOR, books, thoughts, ideas, and speeches, as "HATE SPEECH", in their "Hate Speech" is not "Free Speech" George Orwell Contradiction. How does that work? Double-Think. It's funny how in REALITY, the Socialist and the Fascist speaks, but the SOCIALIST is the ONE PROTECTED by the very government that they speak against.
@BurnAllLiberals "England" didn't make that movie, a company did. But yes, all of our governments are censorial and corrupt. Anarchism is the only possible solution to all of these problems.
@ineffabelle Fuck ANARCHISM, long live MONARCHISM, or AUTOCRACY, or THEOCRACY, or anything ANTI-West. Anarchism is a self-contradiction, because when you want to think about it, YOU CAN actually DO whatever you WISH to DO, but that also means that the Government can do whatever they wish to do to you too, say if you decide to Murder, or etc..,I hate HYPOCRITICAL governments NOT Straightforward ones, that ADMIT that these things must be in order to govern, etc.. Rebels run the governments today
@BurnAllLiberals Anarchism is just the view that nobody should rule over you. It is silent on the subject of what you should morally do with your life. It's not the view that "anything goes and nothing is really right or wrong" -- that's called moral relativism.
@AutonomistVoice No, Anarchism, means that no one should tell you to not kill anyone, steal from anyone, rob anyone, and etc... Normal Straightforward governments are those that tell you to just pay your taxes and serve the army, and THAT'S ALL, NOTHING MORE, and Normal Governments don't punish people for NOT Doing things, normal governments punish people for the things that they have DONE. Sure Anarchism is better than Liberalism, that I agree with.
@BurnAllLiberals what you probably meant was "fuck moral relativism". Moral relativism does lead to hypocritical governments, anarchism does not. Anarchism entails the absence of governments, hypocritical or straightforward ones altogether.
@AutonomistVoice Moral Relativism is subject to the time and place etc., NO, I am not big on Moral Relativism, if there is going to be a set of Morals, it is going to have to be forever that way, and I see a lot of Hypocrisy from Christians myself, for NOT following the LAWS described in Deuteronomy, etc., that's why God allowed Islam to rise, to REMIND Christians, of what they OUGHT to be. There is nothing wrong with a gov't that's based on people's moral integrity to KEEP THEIR WORDS.
@ineffabelle@ineffabelle Fuck ANARCHISM, long live MONARCHISM, or AUTOCRACY, or THEOCRACY, or anything ANTI-West. So, if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then, I will suggest that that you allow the Fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, and if you feel as I feel, and you would seek as I seek, and I ask to stand beside me, one year from now, outside the gates of parliament and together, we shall give them a Fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot.
He promised you order. He promised you peace and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night, I sought to end that silence. Last night, I destroyed the Old Bailey to remind this country of what it has forgotten.
More than 400 years ago, a great citizen wished to embed the Fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that Fairness, Justice and Freedom are more than words, they are perspectives.
Well, there are certainly those who are more responsible than others and they will be held accountable, but again, truth be told, If you are looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you and in your panic, you now turn to the now High Chancellor, Adam Sutler.
Words are for the means to meaning and for those who will listen the enunciation of a truth and the truth is, the is something very wrong with this country, isn't there?
Cruelty and Injustice, intolerance and oppression. And what were once you had the freedom to object to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have sensors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who is to blame?
I thought that we could mark this November the fifth, a day that is sadly no longer remembered by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat.
There are, of course, those who do not want us to speak. Effective now, orders are being shouted to telephones and men with guns whose be on their way. Why? But while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. (part 2)
Now, let me first apologize for this intrusion. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine, the security, the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in spirit of commemoration by those important events of the past, usually associated with someone's death or an end of an awful, bloody struggle; a celebration of a nice holiday.
I disagree with some of your views. But this is a great speech..based on the comic which came out many years ago prior to 9/11 and 7/7. Not surprising it received a lot of criticism from the powers that be !

(part 6)
So, if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then, I will suggest that that you allow the Fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, and if you feel as I feel, and you would seek as I seek, and I ask to stand beside me, one year from now, outside the gates of parliament and together, we shall give them a Fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot.

(part 5)
He promised you order. He promised you peace and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night, I sought to end that silence. Last night, I destroyed the Old Bailey to remind this country of what it has forgotten.
More than 400 years ago, a great citizen wished to embed the Fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that Fairness, Justice and Freedom are more than words, they are perspectives.

(part 4)
Well, there are certainly those who are more responsible than others and they will be held accountable, but again, truth be told, If you are looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you and in your panic, you now turn to the now High Chancellor, Adam Sutler.

(part 3)

(part 2)

Good Evening London,
Now, let me first apologize for this intrusion. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine, the security, the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in spirit of commemoration by those important events of the past, usually associated with someone's death or an end of an awful, bloody struggle; a celebration of a nice holiday.

totally agree with what you say about this Sean.
It is becoming ever more relevant - and we must act soon or it may get too late.
Like you say, the Sheeple need to WAKE UP cos we must join as a mass movement internationally.

I disagree with some of your views. But this is a great speech..based on the comic which came out many years ago prior to 9/11 and 7/7. Not surprising it received a lot of criticism from the powers that be !
