In games like GTA IV, the same amount of polygons has to be dispersed to model an ENTIRE city (well, most of it), let alone vehicles, pedestrians, main characters and weapons etc! Generally, games that require wider fields of view use less polygons per inch (or cm/mm whatever) :)

It's built to work for the cell to handle and assists in graphic processing.

Reality Synthesizer " RSX " is used to work in conjunction with the Cell processor for graphical workings. Example = ( MLAA is done by the Cell's SPE's ) like BS3 showed us. But 360's graphical workings have to be done only through the GPU ( Xenon ). What this shows is simple. 2 Different GPU's

360 = standalone type GPU / PS3 uses a Reality Synthesizer in conjunction with Cell.

heh, Heavy Rain and GOW 3 already looked better than this. i mean Kratos in GOW3 and the characters in Heavy Rain still remains some of the most amazingly rendered character models i've seen so far on current gen consoles. so this demo here is really no big of a deal in this console cycle:)
Bollox. No PS3 exclusives have remotely this level ofdetail. Heavy Rain actually stands out as a bad looking game to me because they're trying to go for character realism and cant pull it off. Only bit thats look similar is the eyes, facial details arent there-animation is terrible/nonexistent and reminds me of cutscenes in PS1 games.This just shows how good PS3 graphics would be if they only had to render one detail and nothing else.
We've already achieved these graphics with ps3. if anyone is questioning that you dont have a ps3 and/or you dont have certain games. GT5, GOW3, KZ3, U3, etc. on and on and on all have amazing graphics.

What you see before you is art and attention to detail. Its the same spec and gloss maps you see anywhere else, only its captured and crafted with care. It helps that its a scan of his head. The texture resolutions aren't that high and mimic other games we see today, even in lesser ps3/360 games to a point.
With LOD, the character doesn't have to stay this detailed for long.From just beyond the distance of the opening, those details can be lost, having no performance impact.
@TrolloftheTube consoles can do this type of graphics for games.. the thing is, too many of this characters will cause intense lag, imagine in assassins creed game this type of graphics.. consoles wouldn't keep with it.

@bigben1731 No developers claim the 360 is more efficient at graphics rendering, the PS3 just chokes and bottlenecks. It was stated that Uncharted 2 maxed out the PS3 that's why Uncharted 3 looks the same and got worse reviews than the first two. Epic games said that Gears 3 still hasn't maxed out Xbox 360. The 360 can output in 1080p and the PS3 usually maxes out at 720p. Plus the 360 has better GPU, more RAM, more polygons processing, better development kits for developers. PS3 fails.

The 360 can display graphics in true 1080p, or 720p. DVD playback is 480p upscaled to 720p or 1080i only. And nothing changes the fact that Sony Picture Studios is hosting this years VGAs. That alone shows that your claims about 360 far more superior is completely false. The ps3 has an advance complicated architecture. The RSX isn't just some random GPU (which you probably think). It's built to work for the cell to handle and assists in graphic processing.

It has a built in XDR to handle the data information faster than what the 360 can do so it can handle many more tasks to produce many polys. Since the 360 uses a shared memory architecture, it wouldn't be able to produce 500 million polygons which would give it an unstable balance for the CPU.

Reality Synthesizer " RSX " is used to work in conjunction with the Cell processor for graphical workings. Example = ( MLAA is done by the Cell's SPE's ) like BS3 showed us. But 360's graphical workings have to be done only through the GPU ( Xenon ). What this shows is simple. 2 Different GPU's

Anyway the anti-aliasing ,as far as I know, is bassically the use of shaders to cover the jaggy lines.

Bollox. No PS3 exclusives have remotely this level ofdetail. Heavy Rain actually stands out as a bad looking game to me because they're trying to go for character realism and cant pull it off. Only bit thats look similar is the eyes, facial details arent there-animation is terrible/nonexistent and reminds me of cutscenes in PS1 games.This just shows how good PS3 graphics would be if they only had to render one detail and nothing else.

What you see before you is art and attention to detail. Its the same spec and gloss maps you see anywhere else, only its captured and crafted with care. It helps that its a scan of his head. The texture resolutions aren't that high and mimic other games we see today, even in lesser ps3/360 games to a point.
With LOD, the character doesn't have to stay this detailed for long.From just beyond the distance of the opening, those details can be lost, having no performance impact.

The thing is. They focus on doing a face for the demostration a technical demo of what the PS3 can do when fully utilized. The bad thing is that it's using to much proccessing that it is only able to present one face.
But. I mean Uncharted almost looks like this. So there's your answer. :) hope that helps.
