Americans... when will they ever learn the difference between socialism, coimmunism and authoritarian dictatorship (stalinism) .... sigh. I guess that's what you end up with when you've been fed corporate media for over a 100 years and still think your own thoughts are your own and even think they are "original".... *shaking head* . Ayn Rand. The most mediocre attempt at pretending to be a combination of philosopher and economist the world has had the misfortune to see in print yet.. amazing.

Communism, socialism and Stalinism all seem to have something in common...a lack of personal choice. Its theft pure and simple, no matter how you justify it. As a supporter of voluntarism I cant help but shake my head at your disrespect of Ayn Rand and of personal liberty as a whole. Good day to you.

@standupgun - I think the "operative" word here is "seems". How about the disrespect for millions of workers having fought for the 8 hour work day, for better living conditions, laws against exploitation and child labour? Ayn Rand? She's a hack! A quasi-"philosopher". Why do you think ZERO universities around the world study her neither as philosopher, economist NOR prose literature writer? You take the ENTIRE western intellectuals and intelligensia for fools??? I must say.. you DO have "balls"

Universities discourage study of her because the professors are collectivists who dislike her message of individuality. This applies to MOST universities, I know several that in fact do study her writings. There is nothing wrong with workers associating voluntarily, and unionizing...but some unions prohibit people from working with an employer, unless they join the union. That is extortion...and THAT is what Ayn rallied against. My "balls" are the biggest balls of all. :D

The British government are considering proposals from medical professionals to ban smoking inside of private vehicles in Britain. The same government (with help from the recession) also seem hellbent on ruining the British pub trade by enforcing rules on how much you can drink, and when and where you can drink. Of course - no smoking in pubs. But of course the British government will deny being a socialist government.
