i really hope you're not saying that to me. I'm 28 man. You know, there's too many people that make comments like that based on what people say. Just because I'm not fond of Fords doesn't been I'm juvenile. In face, you proven that you're the juvenile one here because of that comment. Yes, I'm a Chevy guy, but it's become more of a gas vs. diesel world out there, and we need to let the brand wars go. As far as them burying that Ford, they've almost got it to the axles by the end.
If they keep going, yes, they ARE going to bury that Ford in the mud just like the Dodge it's pulling. And if it's a 6.0, they're also likely to crack the crank for blow a head gasket, both common problems with the 6L. I've built 3 pulling trucks, I know a little about these trucks.
Then you should know its not the badge but the builder. I ride with everything from suzuki to the the biggest chevy's you can find and you know what i have learned from truck pulls to mud bogs and even dirt and drag racing? When it's all said and done who has a better build yeah i wheel fords but when i'm done tweaking any rig it's not a ford chevy or dodge it's mine. so don't get defensive when i call you out on your comment cuz it WAS juvenile, my chevy is better rofl.
I agree completely that ultimately it does come down to the builder, especially when it comes to dedicated race/sled pulling rigs. Let's not make a pissing contest out of this. Like I said before, I've gone beyond the badge wars, it's become gas vs. diesel now. With that being said, everybody has their own preferences, but I'd rather have a diesel Ford over a gas Chevy. Each of them have their own problems, I just mentioned the 6 L because of how well known their problems have become.
F@#$ No Diesel is more expensive that gas, and they are too heavy in the front, buy a smaller v8 or v6, trust me i know i own a 97 F250 7.3, and a 79 Bronco Custom which is my muddin truck
i know what your tryin to say, but a v8 consumes more gas than a diesel and if i get a v6, i might as well get a diesel, because a diesel get as much mpg as a v6. i could also convert a diesel to a bio-diesel which well save alot more money, but im still a teenager. what do yoo personally think about the older 4 cyl 5 spd 4x4 toyota trucks. do you think their good. i also do want my insurance up the ass.
if you realy want to find out if disel is cheper take 10000 mi average per year and devid it by 15 mpg for gas and 20 for diesel and diesel should be around $400 cheper to run I am 14 an am planing on trading off my 1996 ford f150 with a 302 that gets barly over 13 mpg
the older toys are great platforms for muddin and you can always upgrade to a small v8 and go to the junkyard and swap out for a solid front axle if you dont get a toy with one
id go with the diesel may cost more but hey in 10 years when fuel is like $10 a litre you can say you had a diesel that hauld ass ive been depating on weather or not to get one too :S im still set on it... but the f150s with 6" lifts are pretty nice but it aint no diesel
i had the same probluem i wanted a diesel but insurance was high because im 17 for the diesel because it was an 06 so i got an 1994 toyota pickup 4x4 5spd for my first car when im 19 im gonna get the diesel so my insurance isnt high
look, if you get a ford s-duty with a v-10 gas engine you can expect 6-10 mpg with a tail wind, with the stock 5.4l it will be some what better but a small engine for what these trucks are rated at is just stupid. I get a combine hwy/cty of 15-19 mpg with my 08 f-350 lariat cc, full bed Between 320-400 miles for a 36 gal (usuable) tank. On total hwy trips I've been able to get 530 miles on this tank, gas cost about $.50 a gal more than diesel you do the math
Reverse is the worst gear to pull in. You will pull sooo much more going forwards

This comment has received too many negative votes show
What they didn't show you is when they buried that Ford a couple minutes later too. Get a Chevy it'll pull both of them out.
