Reitero mi comentario anterior y agrego mi extrañesa por las opiniones que encuentran a Domingo "el mejor Otello".Si domingo les gusta a como de lugar es una cosa pero "el mejorOtello", significa que no han escuchado a los más grandes en "Otello" en historia de la opera. quién interpretó como verdaderamente debe ser, es el Gran Ramón Vinay, luego Mario Del Monaco, otro gran "Otello" ha sido J: Vickers, luego,hay varios más y Domingo que no son" lo mejor", si están bién y estan cantando

Mirelle Freni, muy bién, como siempre. Placido Domingo muy bién, mejor que en otras arias pero sus notas altas no son buenas, no da la voz,simplemente, además su voz no es la más adecuada para "Otello". En general bíen pero mejor está F. Corelli, Giacomini, Vickers y otros que estan en actualidad; Aparte del máximo ,R. Vinay y el que lo sigue M.Del Monaco

The greatest Otello of my lifetime! Better earlier in his career! How many of you remember how he saved opening night at the SF Opera in the early 80's, flying cross country to replace Carlo Cosutta. I was there! Domingo was never better! Also loved Freni, again earlier better than later. Thank you for the post. It's one to treasure!

Non posso crederci! Avevo 10 anni e vidi quest'opera in televisione insieme a mia madre, fu trasmessa sino a tarda notte ed io e mia madre restammo sveglie finchè non finì. Domingo's most attractive Otello. I've heard and watched hundreds of Otellos, but this is my most beloved performance. Freni is fantastic, Cappuccilli is the most complex and demonic Jago, and Diomingo is in excellent voice.

It must be. Why isn't it on dvd yet?

No clue. It's a valuable document as it shows Domingo's early Otello. We have plenty of his interpretations later in his career, but nothing this close to when he started singing the role. Not to mention Kleiber's conducting, or even Freni's Desdemona and Cappuccilli's Iago.
