The GT-R is a cool car, but it's way over priced! Starting at $90,000 being a 3.8L V6 Turbocharger, I have a 2012 Shelby GT500. 5.4L V8 DOHC Supercharged & upgraded to the Hennessey Venom 750R. 40K cheaper than the GT-R (both being stock). The GT-R should come in a standard like the Skyline.
@125RickC Yeah but the Shelby GT500 isn't considered a "supercar". Compare the GT-R with cars that are considered in it's league, and it's considered a bargain.

The new GT Mustangs are perfect blends of everything from a nice track day to daily driven...they are cheap and affordable with an array of options including my favorites the SYNC system and open sky roof. In my opinion, if it means anything, its out of the box fast, affordable and that 5L exhaust note only FORD can create.
What nobody mentions is that this car is basically a weekend cruiser, the ownership cost is through the roof! You can get a 2011 Mustang GT 5.0L that produces 435hp (K&N springs dynoed it at 435) and you get the practicality of an every day car whereas the GT-R you cannot. Then you face another problem, the public streets! I live in NY and they would flat out tow this car in seconds. If you want a sports car, pre owned Cayman models are fantastic and cheap. But the 5L Stang is a no brainer

I'd agree that they Mustangs are decent, fun sports cars. My brother has one, and it's a fun car to drive around. But a GT-R is an entirely different animal.

The fact that the Nissan GT-R's gigantic Brembo brakes are more expensive than the brakes on a Mustang surprises no one except apparently you. Most people already expect this.
@AKSBSU My point is, if your looking for an everyday car, the GT-R isnt one of them. Everything on the GT-R is expensive, the brakes are just 1 instance for how much everything is. @driftanddrum How is the mustang gt for posers? it makes 412HP and has comparable lap times to the M3. Even the V6 mustang makes 300hp and 31mpg. Also the mustang with nearly 100hp more than the 370z still nets the same MPG. So your comment about it being extra thirsty is plain not true. Also Ford no longer makes the Cobra, it makes the GT500 which is 30k less than the GTR and I highly doubt it would be cross shopped with one. Dislike Fords if you want but know what youre talking about atleast!
@BlueAvenue22 Yea, did you also include that Ford has to put a V8 to even compare with Nissan's V6. I think your also forgetting that the GT-R (and 370z) has a V6 so in that case if you want to compare based on engine size go ahead base that 4 litre mustang against them and yes they did downgrade to a 3.7 for the v6 but it still is no challenge for the 370. Chevrolet sticks a 7 litre engine in the Z06 to compete with the 3.8 GTR.
@BlueAvenue22 Ok and let's see what Nissan can do with a 7 litre engine when theyre pushing 530 hp with a 3.8 litre engine. In performance the GT barely has any advantage if any over the 370z and has 1.3 litres more than the 370. You can't deny Nissan for being one of the best in technology when designing their vehicles which I think American cars lack when they go for straight brute power by just adding more and more CCs.
@driftanddrum You cannot compare the power/liter ratio between a naturally aspirated motor and a twin turbocharged motor. Clearly FI makes more power per liter. And "brute force" didn't get the Z06 around the ring faster than the GTR. The nurburgring has well over 100 turns in it, the Z06s superior handling is what netted it a better time. The 2011 mustang runs 12.7, the 370z runs mid 13s so there is definitely a difference. Id prefer the Z but domestics def have their place dude.
@BlueAvenue22 True. I agree the GT is a slight better in performance than the 370 but it also has almost 100hp more. All I'm saying is the GTR is a very fine tuned car. And I think the GTR is superior becuase it uses a V6 and puts out that much power. The 2012 GTR runs 0-60 in 2.8s. If I'm not mistaken (relying on multpile websites) the GTR has the 6th fastest 0-60 time out of all production vehicles. That's pretty good when considering your only paying a base price of 90 grand.
@driftanddrum The GT is faster but I'd still maintain the Z is the more nimble car which is why Id rather buy one even though I love domestics. And the GTR is amazing performance for value. I don't particularly like the car because of the looks, it being AWD and not offering a manual transmission, but it is a truly amazing piece of engineering. I respect all performance cars as long as they go fast and can look good while doing it lol

@mentalm12 I know the feeling. It is an issue of trade off. But then again as with most Nissan sports car they always comes with an option for a stick transmition. The paddle shifter attracks more to pipz who wanted the more trendy and techy preference.

anyways this car is a genius in the tracks...forget drag race, a real car gets a fast time in a circuit, not a straight line. I saw 3 navy guys driving this car in Hawaii...surprisingly they're enlisted. Wish I can afford this car...i only have an Altima.

have you seen one in person? mitsubishi actually copied the gtr's front look with the extending grill. Learn to appreciate functional design. Everything from the door handles to broad shoulder line is nicely done. This design cuts through air better than most ferraris.

the regular GTR is faster than the GT2 in the ring. go check out the number. we dont even need to go to Specv. It will piss all over the GT2. And the GT2 is 200K, u can get 2 gtrs and have money leftover for that much price. And the Zr1 is only .3 sec faster around the ring compared to GTR. I am damn sure the SpecV can literally shit on the ZR1. Look at the lateral G it can produce. Zr1 at 1.06G vs. SpecV at 1.12G. there is no competition. and its lighter than the standard gtr. So GTR wins again

The ZR1 is a nice car and beats the R35 in most categories but not by much, considering the R35 is at a complete disadvantage with more than 100hp less than the ZR1 the 0-60 in the GTR is still faster, but not the 1/4 mile. So the GTR does deserve respect, my insight on the ZR1 is that Chevy saw that the Zo6 cannot keep up with the R35 so they invested another 50k into the Corvette and made the ZR1 to be able to run with Nissan, those two shouldn't be in the same class...GTR is my dream car!

Nissian has always had the best products out there. Japanese design is far beyond anything us americans can design unless they spend ton of money on building a unrealistic everyday car. The GT-R in my opinion is one of the best cars ever made. I test drove one, and it is by far the nicest car I have ever driven, and I was a car porter for Audi.

@driftanddrum How is the mustang gt for posers? it makes 412HP and has comparable lap times to the M3. Even the V6 mustang makes 300hp and 31mpg. Also the mustang with nearly 100hp more than the 370z still nets the same MPG. So your comment about it being extra thirsty is plain not true. Also Ford no longer makes the Cobra, it makes the GT500 which is 30k less than the GTR and I highly doubt it would be cross shopped with one. Dislike Fords if you want but know what youre talking about atleast!

I think your also forgetting that the GT-R (and 370z) has a V6 so in that case if you want to compare based on engine size go ahead base that 4 litre mustang against them and yes they did downgrade to a 3.7 for the v6 but it still is no challenge for the 370. Chevrolet sticks a 7 litre engine in the Z06 to compete with the 3.8 GTR.

In performance the GT barely has any advantage if any over the 370z and has 1.3 litres more than the 370. You can't deny Nissan for being one of the best in technology when designing their vehicles which I think American cars lack when they go for straight brute power by just adding more and more CCs.

@driftanddrum You cannot compare the power/liter ratio between a naturally aspirated motor and a twin turbocharged motor. Clearly FI makes more power per liter. And "brute force" didn't get the Z06 around the ring faster than the GTR. The nurburgring has well over 100 turns in it, the Z06s superior handling is what netted it a better time. The 2011 mustang runs 12.7, the 370z runs mid 13s so there is definitely a difference. Id prefer the Z but domestics def have their place dude.

@BlueAvenue22 True. I agree the GT is a slight better in performance than the 370 but it also has almost 100hp more. All I'm saying is the GTR is a very fine tuned car. And I think the GTR is superior becuase it uses a V6 and puts out that much power. The 2012 GTR runs 0-60 in 2.8s. If I'm not mistaken (relying on multpile websites) the GTR has the 6th fastest 0-60 time out of all production vehicles. That's pretty good when considering your only paying a base price of 90 grand.

@driftanddrum The GT is faster but I'd still maintain the Z is the more nimble car which is why Id rather buy one even though I love domestics. And the GTR is amazing performance for value. I don't particularly like the car because of the looks, it being AWD and not offering a manual transmission, but it is a truly amazing piece of engineering. I respect all performance cars as long as they go fast and can look good while doing it lol

the regular GTR is faster than the GT2 in the ring. go check out the number. we dont even need to go to Specv. It will piss all over the GT2. And the GT2 is 200K, u can get 2 gtrs and have money leftover for that much price. And the Zr1 is only .3 sec faster around the ring compared to GTR. I am damn sure the SpecV can literally shit on the ZR1. Look at the lateral G it can produce. Zr1 at 1.06G vs. SpecV at 1.12G. there is no competition. and its lighter than the standard gtr. So GTR wins again

because the new AVT transmissions are so advanced there really is no need for shifting gears anymore at least in most newer cars.

The ZR1 is a nice car and beats the R35 in most categories but not by much, considering the R35 is at a complete disadvantage with more than 100hp less than the ZR1 the 0-60 in the GTR is still faster, but not the 1/4 mile. So the GTR does deserve respect, my insight on the ZR1 is that Chevy saw that the Zo6 cannot keep up with the R35 so they invested another 50k into the Corvette and made the ZR1 to be able to run with Nissan, those two shouldn't be in the same class...GTR is my dream car!

@88isthenumber ... Correction, the ZR1 has 600+ hp at the shaft and around 505hp at the wheels... The GTR has 480hp at the wheels.

@88isthenumber The ZR1 is a piece of shit. I honestly believe that. Any car company can put a HUGE fucking motor in their car and make it go fast. GTR 3.8 V6 vs ZR1 6.2 V8...... 50k price difference. WAY less quality.

I disagree. The GTR is more of a playstation on wheels. Step on the gas and let the computer take care of the rest. You mess up? Too bad, the car is there to save your ass. That's not fun. Is it an impressive car? Sure is, I just wouldn't be caught in one. The thing about the ZR1 is that it's scary as shit. RWD, with a PROPER manual transmission, you actually drive the car.
