@Voluptuouslola "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I saw Led Zeppelin in concert, who wants to touch me?....I said WHO WANTS TO FUCKING TOUCH ME!?" I didn't but I know where you're coming from, and it was a good place to put that South Park reference.
All right, in order to hear this song I had to sit through a commercial for Oprah's next chapter. How dare they! Such disrespect and insult to this great band. Pretty sure if we clicked on this song most of us don't give a shit about Oprah.
Studio versions please the ears more but any musician can respect how hard it is to reproduce something this fast + technical, live, with just four guys, 100% analog with patch cords, no auto-tune, etc. And if playing it isn't hard enough, think about writing it...
OMG satin pants. I hated that shit, my butt aways slid off the drum throne and the constant readjustment would kill your back by the end of the night.
Nice to see video clips of Zep. However, this song requires the best quality audio to be appreciated. This song, and "No Quarter" are amazing songs when listened to in as high of quality as is (was) available at the time. True Rock Gods.
hands down the BEST song EVER! if this does shake you to your core and make u wanna rock out till the sun comes out than go away! two types of people in this world, followers and leaders...and we know where Led Zeppelin fits...GODS of Rock
I wish Zep had lasted long enought to do this presicion, wrist-breaking tempos, with a subtle but tight, hard funk to it. I loved when they went this direction! Downright intimidating stuff to try and play live.
best group ever. period.... no one compares no one is close. yes we all know all the mystic behind them and most their music. regardless to that zeppelin put into motion things that have still not be done since. all 4 played their parts perfectly.
Apart from the pure awe and amazement that comes from this performance, what people need to take away from this is that there is a lot of bullshit in the conventional telling of the Led Zep legend. People will say that they were in decline during this period - mainly because of Jimmy's addiction - but actually they were at a peak in their live performances as far as power and emotion. Not perfect fluency, but Emotion. When they were on in 77, they were better than anyone, ever.
No, it's not just noise. It's a 34 year old relatively primitive audience recording of the greatest rock band of all time. Depending on the quality, you sometimes have to adjust your ears and expectations when listening to boots.....Bonham sounds jackhammer powerful. Get the 2003 "Led Zeppelin DVD" for 5+ hours of pure brilliance.

I do love the guy though..even though he's a douche bag. :)
@TA152H01 It's a boot, man, recorded on the best technology had to offer in 1977. The live versions have their own character, and the pure chaos of this has its charm.
what the hell is jimmy wearing? I mean it looks cool but. Is he a Wizard or what? He had a black one too. With Dragons on that one as well. Meanwhile Bluto looks like he just came off a Big Mac attack. It it true John Paul Jones really wanted to play for The Who? And Did Jeff Beck Have a heroin problem like jimmy and Clapton?
I think they should have nicked named him "Bluto" instead of Bonzo at this point. He's Fat as Hell. And what the hell is that noise in the background that sounds like a stagecouch. I like how robert can change his shirt so fast.
@ClassicRock1992 Yeah, I'd have to agree that it's a bit loose; however, I really like how raw this performance is!! Great spontaneity. I can live with a few minor slip ups.
one of my favorite boots. Thanks to MM for his wonderful audience recordings. His mastery of 1977 recording technology was unmatched. Or maybe he just knew where to sit. Badgeholders and Listen to this Eddie are classics!! I still listen to them as much today as when I first accuired them on vinyl way back in '82.
CRAP ! When I hear these artists (Led Zepp and others music god), I always wonder "What would I don't give to were born in 1940'/1950' and not in these fucking 1990' !!!"
My Dad would have been my age in that year (17) and damn him for being lucky enough to go see a Zep concert this good!!!! He had the best bands to choose from and I got shit lol
This is actually one of their best concerts from 77, 77 having some of their best and worst shows. I don't know why, but RPs voice got sped up in the studio version. I always though that his 77 voice was always best for this one, during their best 77 shows, the la, ny shows, detroit, cleveland chicago, pontiac,(etc) he still had the range from 75, but lost the occasional grufness. At their peak, nobody could get close to them. They were just unlucky sometimes. This is still a great performance!
@shakedownstreet48 well he is one of the best guitarist in the world , and he is a human and we all not perfect so of course he would fuck up and mate this song is hard to play on live so i think that's the reason why he was fucking up
@6Bloody6metallica6 What i ment to say is that Page was to stoned alot of the time , i have seen him pretty messed up on stage so that will effect the band.

LOL at the debate of Led Zeppelin being the best. These men define musical genius. The epitome of a band that gels. No one today even comes close. Foo Fighters are in awe every time they play with the genius bass of John Paul Jones on their set.
One regret I have is that I never got to see them live.I have to hear about what I missed from my sister.
Wish FM would play more obscure Zep. My top 3 faves: 10 years gone, Achilles Last Stand, and Wanton Song.

ur videos are awesome and everything. but some of them are very short and u cant listen or watch the whole thing, man i want to listen to the whole thing hahaha anywho u do a good job anyhow :P
my eyes only wish they could see as much as my ears have heard Led Zeppelin.. i mean are u kidding me?? shinedown looks like a freakin gloomy hell compared to this.. why did this happen?! why did it stop?! whyyyyyy?!!!!
@kildare97 Hey! '77 is my favorite tour, too. We're in the minority now, for various reasons, but I think that as time passes, people will appreciate the genius that was behind the presentation and performances of their set on this tour.
@kildare97 The set-list was definitely the most ambitious in 77, and Rob had finally figured out how to deal with his vocal damage and had mastered a new, richer tone with a lot of emotion and power (9:15 here gives me chills). Rob's voice was hurting in Seattle, though, and Jimmy was unusually subdued (in a lot of footage from 77 shows, he's dancing and jumping around like crazy). But you're right, a lot of people still had their minds blown! It would have been great to be there
@mielazul I beg to disagree, sir. 1970 was the year of the Zep thanks to RAH. But who can deny this is orgasmic-music. Only Zep from other years can rival Zep.
@willou901 1970 is a great choice, too. It would be cool if there was a good recording/film of the legendary show in Bath that year. But the Blueberry Hill bootleg from '70 is classic...and Hampton Virginia is a really good one. And RAH like you mentioned. I like the US 1972 tour very much - it had such a positive vibe, and they were at a really powerful musical stage. I especially love that "deep drone" they'd open with before blasting off with Immigrant song...and the acoustic set too.
@kildare97 And that's what people kind of ignore when nitpicking various live Led Zeppelin recordings. Their PRESENCE alone could fill these stadiums with electricity. That's what you hear from so many fans who were lucky enough to have seen them - it was a really powerful effect. And my feeling is that it was strongest in 1977, because when you listen to the bootlegs the audiences are absolutely INSANE at every show. The earlier tours have an occasional dull crowd, but none in 77.
all I can say is "Fuck yeah"

Man, these guys were the best of their era. I think this was at the Fabulous Forum in L.A. I saw them there and at the Long Beach Arena.

@kildare97 Hey! '77 is my favorite tour, too. We're in the minority now, for various reasons, but I think that as time passes, people will appreciate the genius that was behind the presentation and performances of their set on this tour.

@mielazul Yes I love the '77 tour It's great.
Achilles is amazing during the tour.
And somebody tell me whats wrong with Seattle 77 Its a awesome show people that WERE ACTUALLY there said it was epic
