  • I've always loved this song, reading it as a post-breakup song. Sunday, my gf passed away in her sleep as I slept next to her.

It hits harder and in a different place now.

    God Bless the Virginia Boys

  • I've loved this song since I was a kid. Sunday afternoon, my girlfriend passed away in her sleep next to me as I napped. It hits harder and in a different place. Still an awesome song

  • I lost my louvin brothers my babys gone any chance some nice person can help me thank U wadkins

  • You might try County Sales. They have a lot of recordings. Either that or some place like Ebay or Amazon.

  • They did this song for us in Darrington, Washington - up at the schoolhouse. What a concert! Few bands are as good as their recordings, but Jim & Jesse may have been even better onstage as in a studio.

  • this was done by the wilburns in the 50's

  • This was a Louvin Brothers song. One of their big hits.

  • the wilburns also released an album 1/1/61 called wilburn bros sings which included this song.i know they also had a single out. which was a hit for them. i don't know the exact date. i don't know which one recorded it first. it was written by hazel marie houser. the wilburns and the louvins had at least one other hit knoxville girl on the charts at the same time.there are probably others i would have to research to find out.

  • A great song by a great Duo! THIS is Bluegrass! I first heard it done by the Bear Creek Boys of Santa Cruz, Cal., and went out and bought the recording by Red Allen & the Kentuckians. So good!

  • Isn't that Joe Meadows on the fiddle? He was a good friend from West Virginia. Recorded and played some with the Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys.

  • it sure is fiddlin Joe Meadows. he was a fine fiddler, and never has gotten the credit he deserves in my opinion.

  • Very true about Joe. He was an excellent fiddle player. Joe recorded an album with the Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys. I was there when they recorded it. Heck of a snow storm! Someone came in from outside and said, "Who's car is that out there? It's parked on the train tracks and the train will be coming through here in about five minutes." It had snowed so hard you couldn't see the tracks. We about didn't make it there for the recording. Slippin' and a slidin'.

  • I Love It!!! Thanks for sharing it. Yes indeed, they're every bit as good as the Louvins.

  • Right up there with the Louvin bros and the Everelys.... Thanks
