I wonder if the relatively innocent viewers of 1972 would have got the obvious innuendo of 'I'm feeling rather queer' and 'I haven't felt myself all day' that we would immediately understand now.
@zxychesatz349 I think people knew what was going on. The difference was that there was no political correctness at that time. You could make in your face gay innuendo - as long as it didn't become really crude - without anyone putting a political slant on it, which meant in some ways you could get away with more. Have a look at "Do The Shake" by the Village People with an 8 year old dressed innocently as a leather man. I cannot believe you could get away with that now.
I'm as straight as a dye, but I think Larry was excellent entertainment. He understood the camp thing so well and crafted his humour around that. I have never seen such a genuine and sincere comedian. He said " I love you all" at the end of his act, and you knew he meant it. Very warm. A night in his company must have been a joy. I've got the dvd. Yes the shows are dated, but that means nothing at all.
he's before my time but I still like the footage I see of him. Thinking of shut that door, perhaps I can work this idea into my comedy series about my friend. If you see episode 8 of my channel series, he can't shut my front door. Maybe I could do a music vid or soundtrack to him, lol
Thanks brilliant Larry always made me howl with laughter a gem of a clip and a star like no other Larry was loved very much you felt you knew him. My friend knew Larry very well and misses him even now brill.
Wow, what a find, a treasure, thank you for sharing this with us Larry fans... Wish there was a commercial DVD available full of Larry's fantastic performances. The new generation of 'comedians' could learn so much from Larry and his peers if only they would let their feet touch the ground for a reality check...
RIP Larry you are still missed x

This song has got stuck in my head! I go around all day singing it, even my 9 year old daughter sings it!

Looks like it was recorded on an old Phillips CV200 video recorder. Sorry to sound nerdish, I couldn't help but notice.

I also remember:
