  • Great song ! In Greek's mythology there was a creature, named "Linkei" ( Plato, Homer, Aristotle...) who was able to, literary, "open our eyes". This song can something like that :)

    You muppet...

  • Excellent vid mate.

  • I was wondering what kind of video could accompany this extraordinary one-of-a-kind song. It's really very good, congrats PurpleMooon!

  • "I said God, it really doesn't matter where you put your world

Someone will come along and move it

And it's always been the same"

    odlicna pjesma.

    They wanted Joe

To dress 'em up and stick 'em out on show

They were arrows in a very bad aim

    It's just a complicated game

inspired video, one of the best I've see here

  • Sorry dolomite. You are a pillock, but there is time mate, always time. XTC were a pandora's box of little wonders. Every new album had me all excited, rushing home to hear it. PLAY LIVE PLEASE!!!!

  • WOW! Fucking cool song

  • I remember bying this as an l.p. in I think 1979....It changed the way i think about music.......It's still as potent now. Awesome.

  • thanx 4 the wicked vid and song love xtc

  • it's not just a complicated song...it's philosophy...

  • This is the original by XTC you cretin.

  • dolomite clearly belongs to that group of people that think a song like "words" by the beegees was actually written by those geniuses Boyzone. Cretin doesn;'t really do Dolomite justice.

  • Sorry sorry...to all you old, 1970 tek-faag queers. Tell you what...i don't even know what "words" by the beegees is.. And I'm pretty sure BoyZone is that West Palm Beach gay club with the glory hole you love so much Kevin Andrew Moore. Get real you idiot. You need to get a goddamned life, jumping down my throat to defend this original version of the song which SUCKS anyway..I'm not gonna let it bother me, Kev. Kevie Boy.. If I knew who you were I'd smother you in your nursing home.

  • dolomite - good to know the eductational system in America is alive and well -you're just straight out of a comic book, aren't you? Sounds like it bothers you plenty!

  • who is this cunt?

  • hmmmm

    doofus?

    complicated?

    game?

what can the connection possibly be

    hey morons?

yes, you are serious aren't you

think i'll stick with the original garbage, thanks

  • you fucking TWAT

  • One of the funniest posts ive ever read...I don't think i will ever stop laughing at you.

  • I like Icehouse's cover to this song.

  • To say this makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up is something of a massive undertatement. Where 'Yacht Dance' is beautifully sublime, this is ultra powerful-surely one of the most intensely lifting finale's to a song that's ever been recorded. This shows the enormous depth of the greatest British band of the last 30 years...Nothing short of a masterpiece.

  • Very well said, that`s exactly how I feel about this song too.

  • A masterpiece.

  • Agreed. XTCs finest piece. I never get tired of listening to it.

  • A friend made me a cassette (lol) of XTC, The Motors, and the Buzzcocks...(yes, for real), a long time ago. This song tripped me out with how alive and deep they put it together. Imagine having to record without all of today's premium studio equipment. Well done.

  • If you guys like this you should check out an Aussie singer called iOTA...he just did this song with the Sydney Dance Company and has an amazing voice...

  • Totally! Thats what got me onto this song! This song was the most powerful part of the performance - it really did leave my heart beating fast - iOTA and dancers combined - amazing.

Glad you also saw it! iOTA is my most favourite artist ever.

    xxxxx

    xxxxxx

  • He was just great!! no need anything to say

  • Its amazing.

    xxx

  • I LOVE XTC!!♥♥ Damn this song is so good!!!!

  • starting at 1:20 that buzzing you are hearing is Colin Moulding's electric razor held up to a mic.....check out XTC Song Stories by XTC and Neville Farmer

  • Clever and spooky video, but a very unnerving track, as anyone who has ever had to deal with psychosis will realise..... XTCs at their most powerful, incredible how this song builds... best guitar sound ever, reminds me a lot of Velvet Underground at their best.

  • A little boy asked me should he put his vote upon the right, no I say it really doesn't matter where you put your vote Someone else will come along and move it And it's always been the same It's just a complicated game They wanted Tom They wanted Joe To dress 'em up and stick 'em out on show They were arrows in a very bad aim It's just a complicated game And it's always been the same It's just a complicated Game
  • This is the song that hooked me on XTC. Always a fave

  • Classy and atmospheric this song sure is

  • I always think about this song when I am in the voting booth!!

  • VINTAGE!

    i love xtc

  • From drums and wires one of the greatest album's ever

  • You said it! A masterwork!

  • Andy Partridges' seminal moment

  • weird video, but cool

    the song is awesome

  • If you like this song, do get the vinyl (Analogue), and turn it way, WAY up!

    "brilliant!"

  • the remastered CD is just as good if not better than the original release

  • A matter of opinion. I've yet to hear ANY digital reproduction, despite touted accolates, that really capture either the warmer midtones or brooding baseline that an analogue recording can. Call me old original school I guess. I'm glad they did some remastering on some material, frankly the original digital version of "Oranges and Lemons" was just AWFUL! Sharp, brassy and hollow, I couldn't even stand to listen to it in headphones.
