This ceremony was organized. There were lots of things left out because the crowd basically overtook it and it couldn't be presented in the way it was intended.
the fact that Orr was sold out by that piece of turd Allan Eagleson and Bobby ended up retiring in a Chicago Black Hawks jersey is dispicable. Eagleson went on to pay for his crimes against the players association and bobby orr by doing time in jail in the 90s.
It's too bad that they didn't start the ceremony an hour before the game. It's also sad to see Alan Eagleson ( I know he was Bobby's agent), and Tom Fitzgerald awake at the end of this, I would of assumed that one of the Gahden faithful would have punched one or hopefully both of them out!!
Your right this ceremony bordered on embarrassing. I mean this is Bobby Orr, the greatest hockey player of all time and they have this ceremony that just seems so chaotic. Though I have to say that Peggy Orr is quite sexy.
fitz is a class act, they dont make them like him anymore.....youd never see someone now-a-days improv like he did here, the fans didnt give him a chance to do/say anything they all wanted bobby to speak
He forgot the purpose of these ceremonies. They are about two things -- giving the person a chance to say goodbye to his fans, and a chance for the fans to love on the retiree. Not about anything else.
I don't know...being from Boston and being of age to have seen ORR many many times I kind of like old Fitzgerald....he was old school and his likes are gone forever.
