  • if your like this look up Anthony Pitingolo form gulf coast high florida, the guys a beast was on every special team started offence and defense, never left the field. and was an all-state cornerback and the class 4A florida player of the year

  • 2 people cant stand to see a white kid juking black boys out of their socks, and outrunning them!

  • @EqualWhites Yeah nice comment, and he aint that good where he will take out all the great black running-backs. Never will be Adrian Peterson

  • We don't get many guys with speed at BYU, hopefully this kid can be utilized effectively.

  • what's the song at the very end

  • i can not WAIT for his season this year at the Y!! he will be a major weapon. BYU is gonna be FREAKING good this year with him and all the other weapons they have. GO COUGARS!!!

  • boy do we miss him

  • Him commiting to BYU makes perfect sense. It is the school where white football players succeed. Luke Staley for example or Austin Collie.

  • I'm glad he didn't go to Auburn or Bama. If they're not going to recruit him because of his "size" (i.e. race), then he should go somewhere where he will be appreciated. As a black high school player, it saddens me to see that football has once again plummeted into a game of racial segregation, even if it is the reverse way to the way it was 50 years ago. Go burn it up a BYU boy, hopefully we'll meet soon.

  • He should have had letters from evey D1 school but since he's white he's too "small" but in the words of most fast black runningbacks YOU CANT HIT WHAT YOU CANT CATCH!!!! and SPEED KILLS!!!

  • They probably red-shirted him, its to bad Stanford didnt give him an offer, he could be putting up numbers this year as a freshman. Stanford would have been a better fit they dont have a stable core of RB's yet after Toby left.

  • guy has got great speed

  • you should have got his 99 yard return touchdown in here and saved it for last

  • not to be racist or anything but just whipping this out there, Toby Gerhart ran for like a million more yards than mark engram, and also led in touchdowns, but did he win a heisman ? no he didn't and i'm personally gonna say it's because he's not black, not that engram isn't amazing but Toby was ten times better, had more class. i'm kinda worried for the dude in the video, i wish him the best of luck and hope he does good in college ball, peace out, oh and i'm black so don't call me racist.

  • @blikjhkj yu just stupid just say yu black and this is wrong what they doin to these boys though real talk its bad but typically white people arent as fast as black people and they cant jump as high, so coaches dont really look at white runningbacks.they look at white offensive lineman, quarterbacks and fullbacks why? because white people are stronger (o-line/fullback) and Dont have happy feet (qb).and plus white people are just taller then us aka black people so they're gonna get o-line and qb

  • Can't wait to see Drew in Cougar Blue!

  • Go check out Brandon Bourbon, he played weaker competition but runs similar to this guys and is built like a horse and is going to Kansas. /watch?v=Ft7GQJHeMmY

  • INSTANT IMPACT PLAYER 2010

  • Not only is his breakaway speed off the charts, but this guy goes from 0-60 like no other. Maybe the competition is weak, but being in Alabama I would assume not. Not sure how BYU comes all the way from the state of Utah and into Alabama to steal this kid.

  • The lower end SEC schools deserve to lose for passing up on Phillips. C-USA and MAC schools were pretty much his best offers close to home. To me, this guy is a bigger land than DiLuigi. He just looks more impressive. Almost like Reggie Bush or Barry Sanders with some of those jukes and moves. BTW 6-0 is big for a RB. With weight training he could get 200+ lbs with little loss of speed.

  • wow that guys got good speed!

  • whats the 2nd song called

  • he'll go to byu for a year or two and hate it and leave

  • he'll go to byu for a year or two and hate it and leave

  • This guy's a gamer. I love the shake and bake moves in the open field. The great news is that Drew will get even faster at the D-1 level and put on some needed bulk. Welcome to BYU - Signed, CougarNation

  • Lemme Guess, Alabama and Auburn did not recruit him because of his size? (code word for Non African American Running Back).

  • @JRF1961 Lol I think you hit that nail right on the head!

  • @JRF1961 Eh....don't play the race card...the kid is small. One of my friends from Kaiser highschool....a black running back....rated higher as a prospect than this kid was forced into playing corner because of his size. The fact is small running backs don't last long.

  • @grapedrink009 Luke Staley was all state in Oregon his senior year, The only D1 to recruit him as a RB was BYU; Toby Gearhart was all state his Senior year in HS.S and Stanford was the only school to recruit him as a RB, Pete Carroll at USC wanted him as a LB or FB not as a RB. You want more proof, Jaquez Rodgers at Oregon State is only 5'6' and he was recriuited as a RB, CJ Monroe at Texas is listed at 5'9' 171 lbs and was recruited as a RB.

  • @JRF1961 Toby is definitely built like a line backer. He doesn't fit the archetype of a USC running back. As far as the other guys you mentioned i can't comment on. I'm not saying people don't tend to consider race when they think of running backs, but you also have to take into consideration their build and speed.

  • @JRF1961 The kid in this video is a great player, but i would never put him at linebacker at 171. Not at D1 level. It wouldn't even be fair for him to be put in that position lol.

  • @JRF1961 Even BYU plans to use this kid as a slot receiver and a return specialist and that fits him perfectly.

  • @grapedrink009 Hey Grapedrink009, I owe you one, you are right. However, given the fact that BYU is doing just as bad as Texas, BYU might have a new coach next year ( I mean u never know), so perhaps that may change in 2011. Hey are u an Auburn or Bama fan? reason am asking is do u think Auburn will win if Newton is forced to sit out that game? Have a Great Weekend!!

  • @JRF1961 I'm not a faun of Auburn or Bama. But i have seen Auburn play. Newton is a great QB but they seem to have a pretty complete team, i think they'll be ok. If the game has already been played and i'm right/wrong let me know haha.

  • @grapedrink009 But to be fair, There was a time when Black QB's were not even considered for D 1 schools. The best HS qb in Texas a few years was Robert Griffin and it pissed me off to no end that Texas did not recruit him. Was it because he was Black, no, it was because he wasn't All World and UT is paying the price for it. When I think of what he could be doing for Texas instead of Baylor, it still upsets me.

  • Lol no o ne ever shows the second half against FP

  • @lisasagem What??

  • This kid looks small, skinny, and not the fastest but hey he gets the job done.

  • @EddieVedder13 wtf??? not fast just so u kno drew just won state in track class 5A and he runs a 4.38 40 i would call that very fast wouldnt u

  • @EddieVedder13 bro he one the state title in 400m and 4x400m he runs a 4.39

    40 yard dash.

  • @todd2013 Yes he looks very highschool fast I'm just saying cuz it's like everyone runs below a 4.4 till they get to the combine or whatever and run a 4.5

  • @EddieVedder13 He's 6-0. NFL RBs hardly ever go over 6-2 (Eddie George was 6-3). That is ideal height. 185 lbs isn't that thin coming out of HS. He will not be a power running back. I see him being more of a Reggie Bush type to mix up with some bulldozer like Lendale White (BYU has had a lot of those in the past few years).

  • so we got a two kids in 8th grade that run a 4.4 and bench two hundred BRAHMAS undefeated four season of little leugue and and undeafeated both junior high seasons

  • @mprowell sombody is full of shit.....

  • First thing that i noticed different from 2008 to 2009 was that Drew got a little bigger, and the amazing thing is he didn't lose speed or his lateral movement, I love how you move Drew!!!! from side to side your untouchable, and your sprint speed is crazy good!!

  • how did BYU land this kid?

  • because he was way overlooked by all the other colleges. His other offers were from Wyoming, SMU, and central michigan, so he picked the best option.

  • Cincinnati did also offer him a scholarship.

  • Love the he is willing to lower his shoulder into any would-be tacklers!

  • Welcome to Cougar Nation, glad to have you on our side!

  • WOW!! i knew Drew was good && fast but not like that!! Congrats Drew!! Good Job you deserve this!!

  • byu!!!! drew phillips #1 2010

  • I didn't think I could be more impressed than I was with Drew's JR video, but the SR highlights are even more impressive. Weare so excited to see you tear it up for the cougars.

  • kid is quick

  • I like this video more compared to his JR highlights you made, it had to many slow motion parts. not sure how hes only a 3 star and (2 on rivals) recruit. He reminds me of a slower version of Chris Johnson, how he picks a hole and goes threw it. He already has patience to hit a hole which is a great to already have.

  • For all of you out there that are wondering what level of competition that the teams are that he is running all over... it is 5A football in the state of ALABAMA! The highest classification in Alabama is 6A and that is the class for super schools like Hoover, Gadsden City, Prattville, etc. So yes, these are very very worthy opponents. I'm glad I could clear that up for all of you :)

  • @pirateballa2 Super schools like Grissom. Oh wait, they haven't done much in football since the 70s. They had one good season with Jason Swain and co., but they pretty much could get beat by a lot of 4A and 5A schools when I was there. Good at wrestling and decent at basketball though. Classification is based on enrollment, and North Alabama teams are not really up to par with south and central teams. Phillips will be a stud regardless.

  • Heck of a highlight video. Welcome to the Y. I can't wait to see how you are used in the offense.

Your combination of speed and power hasn't been seen here since Luke Staley won the Doak Walker award. Just take it one day at a time.

  • man Drew Phillips and ross apo are gonna change our offense at byu. we haven't had playmakers like these guys since luke staley and todd watkins

  • the kids too fast!

  • Excited to see what you will do at BYU Drew! Go Cougars!!

  • Can't wait to have you here Drew!!! Go Cougars!!!
