  • 2 broke girls?

  • Hey, everybody! I purchased the bed mechanism but got the construction plans for the twin size bed, but need plans for a quuen-size bed. Maybe here is somebody who has these? I would really appreciate if somebody could send them to me.. I need only the parts where there are the sizes...

  • might as well buy an already built murphy bed

  • not gonna lie, i wanted to look one of these up after 2 broke girls

  • Didn't realize these guys had a patent on gas springs.

  • Buy two-200lb gas springs and the appropriate zinc brackets. All of that is around 70$ with shipping. Don't buy from these crooks when you can get the same stuff from an industrial supplier for a quarter of the price.

  • @pabstpapster do you know a supplier where i could buy those gas springs and the zinc brackets ? a website or phone # ??? please let me know

  • Thumbs up if The Sims 2 bought you here.

  • how much weight can it afford?i have a heavy matress!!

  • crooks!

  • i can build this thing spending only $ 150.00 and use my old matress.

from the store i'll need just wood, few brackets and hinges.

  • hey so i am plannig to this on my room , can you please give me the website to buy this kit.

  • lol, you can pretty much find all the stuff they have in home depot.

  • Cheaper plans for a murphy bed-

Step one: Screw heavy duty hinges to your wall studs.

Step two: Put together a box to hold your bed (make sure it's strong and attractive).Attach a couple of bungee cords to the inside corners to hold the mattress when you tilt the box against the wall.

Step three: Screw the box to the hinges and toss your mattress in. Tilt the box against the wall using the hinges.

Step four: Take the $300 you saved and buy yourself a new grill.

  • i wouldve gone to a car dump and gotten the pneumatics off a minivan's trunk door. yea it might be a little more, but i find they would work better than bungies and they come with their fittings. I really would just be happy with making a little wood latch at the top.

  • @kendigjl even cheaper, buy all the parts in your local hardware store :D

  • @kendigjl yea its quite expensive to purchase it from these folks, but i saw the gas actuators and connecting pads at msc direct web, the part numbers of which i got from the moddi murphy bed site, incorporated that into a lori wall bed design with a few modifications.

  • I bought this kit and did it myself. Direction are great. I took my time and did it on vacation. I used 3/4 inch plywood with veneer. Total cost for project $299. for kit and about $ 550. for supplies ( panels, stain, brushes, Etc) Contact me if you have questions.

  • @20stewfan Could you tell me how much space is from the floor to the bottom of the bed when the bed is open? or tell me how long the legs/handles are? I am thinking of getting the Side mount full size bed from the Rockler website. I'm assuming its the same place you got your kit from because the price is the same. Thank you.

  • @patchesandhems Hi, It is about 6 1/2 inches. It's the size of the leg that makes the distance from the floor to the bottom of the bed. I purchased the full size vertical kit from create a bed and got all suplies at home depot.. Follow the directions with kit and you will be fine.

  • @20stewfan Thank you!

  • @20stewfan

hi! been reading your post. thinking about buying one of these mechanisms. wondering how strong the gas springs are. i'm going to have a queen size bed, so i need power. could you tell me how strong they are? usually a number followed by N (newton) ex: 100N.

    thanks, G.

  • @szucsgellert Hi. The gas shocks in the kit you order work good. When you build it before you insert your mattress in it it folds up fast but once the mattress is inside the bed frame in works nice. I have a full bed kit and sorry I can't see no reference numbers.

  • this is nicccccccce technic

  • vastante ilustrativo, suficiente para ingeniartelas y armarlo vos xD

  • So about $500 for a kick-butt Murphy bed?! I think i will order it today. I Just hope my pillowtop mattress will fit..

  • By the time you buy their mechanism, the materials for the cabinet and then the mattress.....pretty expensive I bet!

  • Hey where did you order the kit from

  • i love!!!

  • yes, cool vid. but $299 and I still have to buy the wood, cut it and put it all together?? yikes.

  • While that's true, it ain't too bad. I got my kit last week, took the cut sheet to Home Depot and they cut the wood to spec for me for about fifty cents per cut. The total lumber cost came to about $250 but I used high grade oak plywood with a furntiure finish. Cheaper plywood probably would have halved the cost. I've spent three evenings doing it, going very slowly so I don't screw anything up, and I expect to finish the construction tonight and stain tomorrow before installing.

  • hi did you finish building the bed, how does it look, do you have a video of it

  • I have finished it as of July 12th, and with company in the summer we've had half a dozen guests, most of whom got to try it out and liked it. i'll make a quick video of it and post it tomorrow--the folks at Home Depot made me promise to show them a video of my Murphy bed when they cut the lumber for me. I have not make any side cabinets, so it will be just a straight forward bed, and I have not yet stained the handles but I may try and do that before making the vid.

  • Have you priced complete murphy/hide-away beds? They run $1,200 and up (way up!)

  • So where do we buy the bed mechanisms and how much does it cost?

  • I can honestly say thats cool!
