In Germany you get the 1005PE in White, only with a black display frame...

@aledjin Same in UK. I think the European market has a different stock of colours compared to US/Japan etc. But I prefer the black frame, but you'd probably have to buy it online from the US or Japan.

I love this with the black lid/black frame instead of white! And I like the black frame/white keyboard colour combo. Looks really nice.

where did you get the matte screen! that is the selling point for me! i want this netbook in black (matte) with a matte screen. it need the 14hour battery. as long as it is <$400 im buting it

also its very fing strange, the body of that netbook is matte and the screen is glossy, mines screen is matte and the body is glossy. damn. very very odd. and yes i have 1005pe.

The 1005PE varies in different countries and so does the battery rating. The 14 hours is ASUS' claim, not the actual battery life:

"All day computing for up to 14 hours battery life with new Intel Atom N450 processor"

It's all about the battery strenght. The US version is also sold with the 5800 mAh battery, whereas in Europe the strongest battery is 4400 mAh.

Most white versions the black frame around the screen which is ugly.

They don't supply cases for the laptops anymore, they used to but alas they've shot themselves in the foot and don't ship protective cases in the box!
