Nice video, I have a question about my ferrets. I have two ferrets, a male and female. The female, she's black but she has a full white stripe going from her nose to the end of her tail. I don't know if it's a major birth defect or what. She has a brother from the same litter and he has a brownish whitish stripe going from his nose to tail end. I find it cool, but I'm wondering if they could get any added diseases I wouldn't know about.

They were both Marshal Farm Ferrets that i bought from my local pet store K-9 Kritters and what do you feed your ferrets i'm just curious mine are fed Kaytee brand Forti-Diet Pro Health Ferret Food it has 35% protein and 18% fat,4% fiber,and 12% moisture i was actually directed to use this by my vet because of the proper amnt of protein and fat and low fiber content bc you are supposed to feed them he told me at least 30% protein,and 18-20% fat with no more than 6% fiber
I have a homemade toy i made out of soda boxes like the 12 and 24 pack boxes i cut holes in them and taped them together to make a maze.My ferrets can't get enuf of it they will actully wrestle over who gets to go in usually apollonir wins because he's a grown male and Princess is a female kit.It's funny because Princess will just follow him right in
O and ps ferrets are the little crackhead thiefs of the nature world always worked up and wanting to play and in the past week my ferret has stole my keys 13 times luckily i know where his hiding spot is

Ferrets are not that expensive, but def be ready to pay a big vet bill if needed. I spent a lot making sure my ferret had all the best possible stuff, but not everyone needs to spend 270 on a cage! Ive had mine 2 months and as long as you read your literature and spend lots of time with them, they make a great pet!

@nessie21100 Hi Nessie, Ferrets are not related to rats. Rats are rodents and ferrets are in the weasel family. Make sure you do some research on care and save up plenty of rainy day money before adopting your rat or ferret as they can rack up really big vet bills in an emergency! Good luck!

@nessie21100 oh god, ferrets are VERY different from rats! I got a pet rat when my parents wouldn't get me a ferret. and the thing was EVIL! Never wanted to play, always tryed to murder me even when I fed him. Now that I'm older I have my own ferret and theres no comparison. Although kits will occasionally bite its almost always out of play!They will do anything to play and no matter if you had the worst day of your life or not, they will lift your spirits as soon as you walk in the door!

Rats are very intelligent animals, and require bonding with their owners, before you can allow them to perform tasks most people wouldn't expect from such an animal with a bad reputation. I have experience with both ferrets and rats; I own three ferrets of my own, and two rats, Both are very nice, and one of my rats is actually nicer than one of my ferrets. A possible reason why your rat rejected you?

@Eiiesha if you introduce them slowly, you should have no problem. Just don't make the mistake of putting your ferret with your cat straight off. Me 3 ferrets met my cat that way and they are the best of friends. They sleep and play together all the time....
I don't use collars anymore. I found they get caught on carpet, hammocks ect. I didn't want to risk my ferrets getting hung by one. When I did use them, I just had to keep a eye and hunt them down. They get out of them quite easy. If I was to use one again, I wouldn't have the little bell. It was the metal ring that held it on that always got caught on stuff.
@BMXStreet57 you have to start of slowly. Put it on her and hold her for about a minute, next time, 2, then 3, then 4 (of course you can take it faster too!). Eventuallyt hey come around and are used to it! Mine have goteen better although they don't really like it tooo much yett(:

My ferrets and cat have a love/hate relationship. Nobody hurts anyone and the cat understands that the ferrets are insane... and the ferrets understand that the cat is a socio-path and possible serial killer.
Eiiesha (3): ferret will lash out if it feels cornered. They have been known to take down animals up to and including large dogs by going for the throat - even animals that get along. Your best bet is to get the ferret a large cage and let him sleep there. Then when you can supervise, bring them out to play. Even if they don't get along, you can always put your cat in another room when it's the ferret's time to be out of her cage to play. Hope that's helpful to you. Good luck and enjoy

Not really any problems, in truth. Felines and Ferrets in general tend to get along excessively well. It's more or less taking into account the "status" of the feline. As with most cats, they think (and are) kings of the household. Moment you bring in a little woozil, it ends up dethroning them. So yeah..don't go leaving them unsupervised, but there should be no real trouble. Just a few swats fromt he kitty when the curious little thing gets to close. great vid! Watching their war dance never gets old! I have to agree with Renitsi though, feeding ferrets cat food should only be done when you're really stuck. Cat food contains high amounts of veg fillers and fruits and vegetables destroy a ferret's liver, Cat food contains higher levels of crude fiber than ferrets should be consuming, making it harder to digest and both cats and ferrets require different supplements.

they are great house pets and they are not vicious at all! i compare them to a house cat. they play and hunt just like a cat.

In all my travels I only saw one mean ferret, but he was badly treated, other than that I've always heard great stories of how a great pet they are.

My ferrets and cat have a love/hate relationship. Nobody hurts anyone and the cat understands that the ferrets are insane... and the ferrets understand that the cat is a socio-path and possible serial killer.

Eiiesha (3): ferret will lash out if it feels cornered. They have been known to take down animals up to and including large dogs by going for the throat - even animals that get along. Your best bet is to get the ferret a large cage and let him sleep there. Then when you can supervise, bring them out to play. Even if they don't get along, you can always put your cat in another room when it's the ferret's time to be out of her cage to play. Hope that's helpful to you. Good luck and enjoy

Eiiesha: wow I love maincoons they are so beautiful and majestic looking!! No one can really tell you one way or another, as with humans, every animal has their own personality, likes and dislikes. With that being said however, there are a lot of things that are based on how you go about doing it. First of all, be aware that animals are very stressed out when they move to a new home. Every animal should have a chance for about a week to be in a quiet room by themselves with minimal handling

Not really any problems, in truth. Felines and Ferrets in general tend to get along excessively well. It's more or less taking into account the "status" of the feline. As with most cats, they think (and are) kings of the household. Moment you bring in a little woozil, it ends up dethroning them. So yeah..don't go leaving them unsupervised, but there should be no real trouble. Just a few swats fromt he kitty when the curious little thing gets to close. Though, Eiisha, if you're really, really worried about it? Try getting one of them uber ferret books prior to getting the fuzzy. Or checking out some ferret websites that give tips on how to further "ease" the transition for ya kitty to realize sooner or later, his tail is gonna get stolen xD
I gots a mainecoon as well >.>.14 years old. Set in his ways. Absolutely detests the fuzzies right now..but he more or less just..walks away now. He's figured out swatting doesn't help as a deterent! lol

great vid! Watching their war dance never gets old! I have to agree with Renitsi though, feeding ferrets cat food should only be done when you're really stuck. Cat food contains high amounts of veg fillers and fruits and vegetables destroy a ferret's liver, Cat food contains higher levels of crude fiber than ferrets should be consuming, making it harder to digest and both cats and ferrets require different supplements.
