  • Right at the very end there, Claude Lemieux gets really pissed at that corner wall. Something must have happened over there earlier in the game. A bad bounce maybe.

  • @pnpny04 The Wiz was starting to go under around that time as well but it could have been anything.

  • @beamerball666 I dont have a problem with you being a Devils fan because you grew up following them its fans in my age range im 48 been a Ranger fan since I was a little kid its the ones my age & older who jumped ship & became Devils fans that piss me off

  • This was Game 3, played in N.J.

  • Garden West

  • Damn he scored two Double O.T Goals in that series now before the rest of you Ranger Fans start yelling at me I was 2 years old at the time so I don't really have memories of this series

  • @beamerball666 Hey I was in my moms belly, I think my love for hockey came from all the yelling my dad did during these playoffs

  • @ratchet666clank4 Fair enough

  • Are we sure this game was in NJ? That last replay seems to show nothing but Rangers fans cheering.

  • @jbobbster Yes sir. The Devils fans who were also looking to sell tickets outside of the arenas were trying to keep their sales to Devils fans only. That didn't stop the Ranger fans, of course. Also, that building looks nothing like the Garden. lol

  • @jbobbster thats what it normally looks like in New Jersey

  • @jbobbster thats still how it works today lol

  • @jbobbster That's because there are only enough Devils fans to fill 10,000 of the 19,040 seats

  • The days before ESPN swapped the NHL for the NBA!

    That network is simply awful!!

  • @depstein1014 The good 'ol days. There have been some rumors that the NHL might come back to ESPN.

  • @NewYorkRangers1926 Bullshit. NBC/Comcast has a ten year contract. Hockey Night on ESPN won't be back for a long time.

  • @mustbeburtreynolds I posted that weeks before NBC/Versus had decided to sign a deal with the NHL again. There were multiple rumors over the course of a long period of time that the NHL was considering working a deal out with ESPN. It didn't happen, but they're called RUMORS for a reason.

Stop overreacting to someone sharing a rumor.

  • @depstein1014 The good ol' days were win ESPN had all the major sports (NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB) from the fall of 2002 through June 2004. We all know that ESPN was the best for hockey. Gary Thorne and Bill Clement along with Steve Levy and Darren Pang. Versus and NBC has got nothing on that!!!

  • anyone who says Matteau did nothing else knows nothing about the game,he was a third line checking wing everywhere he played. that was his job. he always did it, the goals were a bonus, he was a clutch player. Non existent...watch game 7 again you asswipe. he hit about 35 devils.

  • lol you would never know this game was in NJ

  • haha it took 50 shots to win. Blowduer now can't even face 12 shots without giving up 3!

  • This series is, IMHO, the greatest postseason series in NHL History. The rivalry, the guarantee, a game 7, this was a hockey fan's dream.

  • I was at this magical game only to be eclipsed by the guarantee . I luv his leap when he scores woo hoooo

  • "the goal of his lifetime" would come in 4 more games!!

  • Look at Claude throw his stick like the douche he really is! 2:15

  • Dang, by the crowd reaction.. you'd think this game was in MSG. Did the Devils really have no fans back in the day?

  • @rollercoasterfweak Back then if you were a hockey fan in North Jersey over the age of 12, you were a Rangers fan before the Devils even existed. Hell, in 1982 it was almost the Rangers that moved to the Meadowlands, not Colorado.

  • Well, you might disagree on my comment, but the Rangers Defensemen, Matteau probably had scored two goals in two multpure OT's in Games 3 and 7 that led the Rangers to the Cup victory.

  • I have to say, that was the most defining moment of NHL Post-season playoff hockey, Messier was good, but I thought Matteau nearly single handily took the NY Rangers hockey team to the Finals in 1994.

  • @lee1000ify I disagree on both cases. Watching Matteau in games he didn't score the OT goals, he was a pretty good forecheker but other then that was non-existent. Leetch, Messier and Richter are the main reasons why they made it to the finals. Leetch won the Smythe as a defensemen, Richter was just solid in nearly every game and Messier lead the team on the locker room and most of the time on the ice. Without those three, Matteau doesn't even get a chance to score double OT goals.

  • What a bullshit organization, the Rangers are fucking jokes.

  • this game was played at the garden

  • @southplnk No it wasn't.

  • @southplnk No...

During the pre-lockout, teams would wear white at home and the Devils are wearing white.

Also, if the Rangers were home a goal horn (might have been a siren at the time)/song would have been on.

  • @NewYorkRangers1926 i was being sarcastic

  • @southplnk haha I can't believe the jersey fact has to be mentioned-that being said-I thumbs-upped the post sayin this was played at the garden because of the atmosphere.Don't deny-most fans in the area are Rangers fans.It doesn't take long to get to meadows from NYC.Give it like an 8 minute bus ride from midtown. I have never seen a devils game-but I've been to 2 Rangers games on Long Island n they're Rangers games. Who are the islanders? Oh yeah-they're that team that beats the penguins :)

  • This is seems like it was yesterday!!! Go Rangers!!!

  • Haha don't forget, this is at the devils "home arena"! Look at all those Ranger fans! We own New Jersey!

  • there is no devils fan base

  • 1:12 that's a sweet hat i want it

  • What a lucky goal

  • @NYISLES2191 Matteau had the same number of goals in this series by himself that you guys had in the 4 game ass beating we handed you in the Quarterfinals that year.

  • Best playoff series I've seen in my years watching the NHL. You had three classic double OT games--including one in Game 7...you had the Messier guarantee in Game 6...the ebbs and flows in this series were unreal....it had everything.

  • I've been an NHL fan for 20 years now and this was the best playoff series in my lifetime...Caps/Pens last year had the chance to pass this but Game 7 in that series was a stinker...

  • the more I watch this the more I can't believe that the Meadowlands didn't charge admission to the 4 Devils standing around doing nothing but watch the game instead of doing their playoff job and kicking some ass...and I am LOYAL TRUE BLUESEATER!

  • This was when hockey was a real mans sport.

  • I love matteau's reaction coming off the ice hahaha

  • Classic series, the whole sequence prior to this goal being scored was insane, so many chances, Matteau twice in 2x OT in 1 series!

  • Look at the crowd behind the net....the devils have no fans hahahahahaaaa

  • "...Stephane Matteau scored the goal of his life." Matteau made him eat those words a few days later. I love the Rangers.

  • a sad moment indeed..

  • Wait, if this isn't a home game, why are they in blue?

  • This was in '94, the rule that you wear blue at home didn't go into effect until the lockout in the 04-05 season. It used to be opposite, home in white and away in the colored jerseys.

  • Actually they started doing that in 03-04

  • You know, watching Lemieux throw his stick was priceless. I'm a Ranger fan who gladly pays compliments to opposition players if they deserve them. Scott Stevens is an example, Bryan Trottier, & there's many others. On the other hand, it REALLY hurts me to pay any kind of compliment to Claude Lemieux, because even though he was a very good, effective player he was one of the dirtiest, meanest, underhanded, loathsome cocksucking motherfuckers to ever lace up a pair of skates. Drop Dead Claude!

  • @rakyeta back in those days the home teams wore white, but after the lockout the league changed it to the away teams wearing white.

  • @rakyeta i think you mean red white and blue just like america

  • How many more of these 94 clips do you have?

  • Oh man i been lookin for this video...that is a classic babyyyyyyyyyyy.....and to think that was a read game lmao...more Rangers than Devils fans hahah

  • I was shocked to see this wasn't on youtube. If you have goals or plays from the Ranger/Devils or Rangers/'Nucks series in '94, I'll gladly upload.

  • Overshadowed by the game 7 OT winner.

His game 7 gets all the press but this was just as important.

  • rangers rock

  • LMAO... Front Runner...

Un-cle Dad-dy *clap clap clap clap clap*

  • nice video homo .

  • Front Runner.
