Lake State Railway Harrisville MI Crossing US 23

If you could get a video of the LSRC train passing thru downtown Harrisville it would be fun to see. It would bring back some good memories. My aunt used to live next to the downtown Harrisville crossing.

My parents have a house on South Lake Huron Shore drive. My sisters and I have watched that train smash everything from nickels and dimes to forks and spoons. Mom wasn't so happy when we started using silver wear, but it sure was funny the first time. I live Orange County, California now, and I love the couple of weeks a year I get to spend in Harrisville. Thanks for putting this video up, it brings back nice memories!

What a flashback. We used to go camping near Harrisville when I was a kid. Back then it was the D&M train that would pass. Anyways, we would run to the tracks when we heard the train coming and put pennies on the track and watch the train smush them and then make necklaces out of them. With so many railroad cuts/abandonments in Michigan over the years, I am glad to see this train still runs.

I had a similar experience camping at Harrisville State Park. It was nice back then because D&M still had the RS2's and RS3's on this train, the odd ball was a scattered C425. On the weekends you could go to Tawas and see most of the D&M's motive power in the yard (where Walmart is now) seeing they never seemed to run much on the weekends.

Wow i'm impressed...no idiots running the crossing! We have the same 10 mph restriction where I live on the NENE (Nebraska Northeastern Railway) which is 10 mph the whole 120 mile route from Sioux City, IA to O'neill, NE.
