i've made a watch that displays in binary with an hourly that beeps the number of hours past midday/night while showing the time in 24 hour plus it has a set alarm which beeps until its turned off or the hour increments
it all just squeezes into a small jiffy box with an analogue clock driver board and a PICAXE 20M micro
Wow! Creativity AND Science! And so pleased! I would assume it could be called a "rolodex style" watch... but I'm not sure of the official name, though I think there was one.
lol sweet....have you thought about mass producing this watch.....lol a 110 volt motor....have you considered keeping the motor and wearing a battery backpack to keep it authentic and original....and wow she is cute....
I've heard them called "flip clocks". Although back then they were advertised as "digital clocks" also they weren't so common in the 60s, they were more of a 70s thing....before LEDS and ICs became affordable in the mid 70s.
I have a Cathode Corner Nixie wristwatch, and it gets occasional scrutiny at the airport...that thing would be asking for trouble.
hey guy's just mail the clock to were you are going. Don't take that on a plane. I think they are just called "flip down clocks" I did a quick patent search on it and didn't find anything, chances are it was never patented or the patent ran out. Hmm, Jerri could be on to the next FAD!

is your brushed motor accurate enough to prevent undershoot / overshooting?
i picked up one of these clocks from the thrift shop and after a quick once over, i think a stepper will give me the most accuracy.
fwiw, the original motor is called a synchronous motor.
good job!

That deserves an article in Make magazine! I have a few of these old clocks with seized 115v motors, and would love to get a few back in operation.

To complete the look, the Nano has to play Sonny & Cher "I Got You Babe" at 7:01.
