  • Who was singing?

  • I like The Doors for the psychedelic sounding music, not blues.

  • this is not Jim

  • @regardingwave of course it is.

  • @regardingwave It's younger Jim, this song is actually featured in Classic Album's episode on the Doors by their producer Bruce Botnick.

  • whispering on the wind

  • after hearing the album version these feel like a remix acoustically or something.... LOVE IT! Thanx 4 post...where can i buy the demo?

  • No this is def. Jim singing if you ever saw the VH1 classic albums the doors they play this song and mention this is Jim and how raw he was back then.

  • please tell me this is Jim Morrison singing?

  • @stevenmarty it is.

  • ray manzarek singing

  • Comment removed

  • @TanjaDoor Lmao!!!! I hope you are kidding!! If you don't know that this is Jim on this track then you are not a real Doors fan. Jim was still finding his voice at this point. Please do some more research before you make stupid comments like that!!

  • @bugmusk6

hey man, sorry........ i really was shocked but these really seem to be the demos of the box set... my fault :(((. but you must admit: it really doesnt sound like jim?! i mean, i´ve never bought the box set but now i will. some say this is ray singing end of the night... ?! omg!!!!!!!!

thanks man and have a great day! its so embarrassing, shame on me hahaaaaaaaaa

    tanja

  • @TanjaDoor you can clearly hear ray singing the backing vocals. as almost always.

but yes, jim sounds very different from how we know him. i've always wondered if he had his voice break not until the demos were finished. but that'd be quite late i guess. i don't know, i'm not a man... ^.^

  • end of the night was my least favorite song on the original album, but that harmonica makes a difference... I LOVE THIS VERSION!

  • Nice post UCLA Film School demo of the Doors "Endless Night" which probably dates from 1965-66...Dan O'Niallain

  • R.I.P James Douglas Morrison!

  • this sounds very good:) but its not the doors.

  • @nocolllhahah25 ....yes it is.

  • @nocolllhahah25 its on "The Doors Box Set" The "Without a Safety Net" disc.

  • As Manzarek has said in interviews, Paul Rothchild and Bruce Botnick really were the 5th and 6th Doors. They polished these demos right up. The demos are good, but these same songs are so much better on the albums.

  • I wish they wouldve kept the harmonica on the album version.

  • is this really him???

  • LOL!!!! Who is singing this? This is ridiculous! It is certainly not Jim's voice. Did you do this?

  • @lemurianchick Jim's voice was different in 1965

  • @austin2bradley3 : No, for real...Is this Weird Al or Ray, perhaps?

  • @lemurianchick it is jims voice u idiot

  • This is the best and most unique Doors song ever, all categories!

Ill "have" to praise you like I should Jim ;)

  • this version is like pink floyd's cover

  • Holy shit!!! Freaky version.

  • Where did you get this?

  • the first gothic rock song ever!!

  • @GOORVY True! For instance Black Sabbath shows a heavily influence from The Doors, although a lot of people don't see this. The Doors were the first to explore the depths of the human consciousness and the darkest side of us all, emphasizing it's nature through haunting sounds and aggressive lyrics. Jim's style is the darkest there was back in the late sixties. I also admire the fact that The Doors are very versatile to the point of having songs about everything about the human condition.

  • it's great to see how art evolves

  • @rts4761 This was when he was at his youngest. As noted its a demo

  • y is it the doors demons?

  • jims v oice sounds so fresh its great

  • this is shit amazing, simply magnificant...

  • Dope!!

  • who ever gave this a thumbs down go suck a cock and die thanks

  • some are born to endless night

  • I ♥ YOU THE DOORS

  • i prefer the version that appears at "the doors" album

  • Happy Birthday Ray Manzarek!!! 70 years old today!!!! :0)

  • love this version :} thanks for youtubin it. very bluesy

  • am i the only one who thinks this song sounds like when the musics over

  • Aha...This Is Before The Doors...Rick And The Ravens Alone With Jim And John...Robbie Hasn't Join Yet...

  • Comment removed

  • the Harmonica fucking rocks, i mean just let robbie join on this and the song will be the best song ever.

  • I prefer the demo to the version released on The Doors album; to me it sounds more spirited and bluesy.

  • agree about that, dekosoft

  • Although i like this version a lot because it has more of a bluesy feeling, the album version is a lot more dark and obscure that it goes along with the lyrics much better. Robbie's guitar in the album version is simply genius, a really haunting feeling. Overall this song is an underrated true masterpiece! For those who don't know "Some are born to sweet delight, Some are born to sweet delight, Some are born to endless night" are verses from a poem by William Blake. Simply brilliant!

  • to bad they never used mot of their demos.. their soo good

  • Comment removed

  • tHe Do0rs!!!!

  • sounds_like_ray

  • well, don't sound like Van, thats for sure!

  • does anybody know who is doing that blues harp?

  • The harp is done by Rays brother...Robby Krieger isnt on this demo...just Ray, Jim, John and Rays two brothers....

  • JIMI JIMI druga polowa lat 60 poleciauuua

  • Without the drugs? Listen to the very first line of this song.

  • Im in love with this song.

Its amazing how Jim Morrison can get his poems to be songs.

  • questo non è JIM ..e nemmeno ci si avvicina.

  • it's jim, you can find this version on The Doors Boxset, and on the dvd Classic Album: The Doors.

A version by Rick and the Ravens, without Robbie

  • Both versions sound good in their own right

  • It is Jim. Before he found his voice.

  • What the @#$%^&*(! LOL

  • This is The Doors...I can assure you....

  • you don't know jim and the doors

  • Thanks .

I didn't even know these demos existed!

The things one discovers via You Tube!

His voice is so different. When he learned to sing in a lower register by '67, he really came into his own to become one the great rock singers ever, including to this day. People like Axl Rose are a

    f'ing (bad)joke in comparison. I can't even listen to that a-hole (Axl).

  • I like this version better, the piano just sounds better to my ears compared to the guitar for this song.

  • lyrics from the second version end of the night

  • If you think about it, his voice changed loads between their first album and their last. His voice is surprisingly different though.

  • really? such a strange voice. seems, it's not jim's. and it's blues version. are you sure it's jim?

  • jim loved the blues. lots of his songs pretty much are blues.

  • you've got that right, LA Woman was pretty much a Blues-rock record.

  • @PitchBlack696 not just jim loved blues, they all did. THE DOORS is the best band !!!

  • this is jim singing and it's the doors. it's when they first started out and were trying to get signed. it's on the box set.

  • Comment removed

  • It's actually "Rick & The Ravens", the band Jim, Ray and John were in before "The Doors".

  • thx a lot for posting this

it really shows how honest they were, living their music instead of just performing (like most of today's bands...)

and it's true, Jim hadn't found his deep mysterious singing voice yet, but still this demo's awesome simply for its historical value (recorded in 65!!!) way before they became HUGE phenomenon in the Rock history!

    thx a lot!

  • Wtf is with these comments? What's so hard about understanding that Jim's voice was completely different when he first started out?

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe Val Kilmer is singing(LOL)

  • lol

  • Its based on Augurries of Innocence, from William Blake. Here`s a fragment of the poem:

    Every night and every morn

    Some to misery are born,

    Every morn and every night

Some are born to sweet delight

Some are born to sweet delight

Some are born to endless night

  • The demos are not that bad even through The Doors have not found their sound yet. Also, I think Ray is singing lead with Jim.

  • Who is singing lead cause it sure doesn't sound like Jim?

  • Jim before he worked on his singing voice

  • i love this song and this 1965 demo version is quite amasing since it was 2 years before it was officially released.Even their demos where class act

  • Yeah, this is the best doors demo...

  • @BasemenTapeClockwork I like their hyacinth house demo too..that equals this and perhaps surpasses it. But, that's just my opinion.
