The spoilers on the trunk, a whale tail because they look like a whales tail, you know a whale from the ocean. They are one of my favorite spoilers on a sports car. Check out like a early 90's porsche 911 turbo model and look at the spoiler, I personaly think thats what caught my attention to its attractiveness the most.
I like the whale tales on the spoilers. I am not a porsche owner because I am poor, but I think what attracts me to the sports car is the famous whale tale. Is porsche going to be adding those to there models or will that be a aftermarket item?

This car looks STUNNING in yellow. WOW that's a gorgeous car. Interior looks great too. I'm wondering if they will offer the sport bucket seats in the non GT models though. I build a new Carrera S the other day, and the sport bucket seats were not an option, where as on the old model, they were. Any idea on this?
@Mawerik024 I wish I could say the same, but the twitchy, high speed over-steer of the 911 has me preferring a Cayman. Even Porsche knows the Cayman is a superior design, the greatest improvement of the new 911 is that it is... more like the Cayman.
@Chace1126 If I'd have a 911 this would not bother me. I think of it as a grand tourer, an all-round gentleman express, not just a sportscar. So high speed oversteer would be not my point. For hardcore driving I'd have a Ferrari. Or, better still, a Lotus Elise

But the Cayman/Boxster loaded with options is relatively the same price, faster, much better handling, (convertible), a boot, is more fuel efficient, with an almost identical interior, ect... What are you buying when you buy a 911? 30 more hp, dangerous (See Ryan Dunn) and obsolete design? Classic feel and a penis? Porsche knows this, and this update is an attempt to fix that with 10 more hp and a slow move from RR to MR to keep the car competitive.

For me there's no context for a comparison with the Cayman (which is, in my opinion, quite ugly). If you put that this way the entire Porsche brand has no point existing due to the existence of the Nissan GTR, which is a better car in every measurable way (don't even count cayenne and panamera)

To say that the Cayman is ugly is to say that the Carrera is only beautiful because of ventilation below the rear window. I don't see how..
the GTR, a 2 ton, 4 seater, awd, twin turbo v6 with almost double the price tag of a Boxster S is competition with the cars I am discussing. Put your way, an STi is direct competition for the BMW Z4... which doesn't make sense. The only point I am trying to make is that Porsche has made the Boxster/Cayman so well that they have overshadowed the 911, and that the base 911 had become uncompetitive in the market and against itself.

Wheels is one of the world's oldest and most respected car magazines and he held that job down for a while. So props to see an Aussie at the helm of one of the USA's biggest mags. :)

@kezboy1 Why too much? As far as I know the 7th gear is just there for fuel saving reasons. The top speed is still achieved in 6th gear. 7th gear is a long ratio overdrive gear for floating along the highway at high speeds but very low RPMs -> huge fuel savings.
On hockenheim short circuit, the new Porsche 911 Carrera s (400 HP) did it in 1:10.4, while the new nissan GTR (530 HP) did it in 1:10.0 (sports auto test) so the porsche has 140 HP less,but it still matches the GTR, so stop saying that the gtr is the best and shit becasue it is not, and by the way the nissan looks so crappy next to the porsche (interior quality, etc...) ♥ German engineering...
@mxaxh1 The GTR has more horse power cause the car all in all weighs quite a bit more than the Porsche. I'll hand it to you that the Porsche interior is hands down a winner, you do need to give credit where credit is due.

It is also faster than the gt3.
You also forgot to mention that the fastest car is a 398hp donkervoort @760kg. What does this tell us, the track is more suited to light weight super handling cars. Truth be told the gtr is by far the heaviest of the bunch and still faster than its nearest competitor.
@mxaxh1 I like Porsche but you're forgetting the GTR seats 5, and has a usable trunk and more interior space all around. You're kind of comparing a Mustang to a Corvette -- apples and oranges. Both of these cars are brilliant in their own respective ways, but even if the GTR came -04 secs ahead, it's still the winner. In the world of racing, .0001 seconds is still a win.

@tinleo333 The difference between the 911 and the GTR is that the 911 manages to have modern technology in its nature while still being very communicative, while being a driver's car. Plus the GTR was built purely for track use, for lap times. The 911 can do track work and feel like it was meant to but still be a good GT car, canyon carver, and everyday driver. That's what the Porsche 911 is. It's everything.

@tinleo333 The 458 Italia is my favorite car but the new 991, the E46 M3 CSL, CLK Black Series, DBS, Zonda F, Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder, they're all up there too. My problem with the GTR is it's too focused on being the fastest around a track. A great car should have the right balance of looks, engineering, handling, sound, luxury, and speed; the GTR's too pegged on the latter.

Put your way, an STi is direct competition for the BMW Z4... which doesn't make sense. The only point I am trying to make is that Porsche has made the Boxster/Cayman so well that they have overshadowed the 911, and that the base 911 had become uncompetitive in the market and against itself.

Wheels is one of the world's oldest and most respected car magazines and he held that job down for a while. So props to see an Aussie at the helm of one of the USA's biggest mags. :)

@kezboy1 Why too much? As far as I know the 7th gear is just there for fuel saving reasons. The top speed is still achieved in 6th gear. 7th gear is a long ratio overdrive gear for floating along the highway at high speeds but very low RPMs -> huge fuel savings.

On hockenheim short circuit, the new Porsche 911 Carrera s (400 HP) did it in 1:10.4, while the new nissan GTR (530 HP) did it in 1:10.0 (sports auto test) so the porsche has 140 HP less,but it still matches the GTR, so stop saying that the gtr is the best and shit becasue it is not, and by the way the nissan looks so crappy next to the porsche (interior quality, etc...) ♥ German engineering...

@mxaxh1 The GTR has more horse power cause the car all in all weighs quite a bit more than the Porsche. I'll hand it to you that the Porsche interior is hands down a winner, you do need to give credit where credit is due.

First off, the gtr is faster than the turbo S, which is its direct competitor on that same exact track (1:10:90)
It is also faster than the gt3.
You also forgot to mention that the fastest car is a 398hp donkervoort @760kg. What does this tell us, the track is more suited to light weight super handling cars. Truth be told the gtr is by far the heaviest of the bunch and still faster than its nearest competitor.

@mxaxh1 I like Porsche but you're forgetting the GTR seats 5, and has a usable trunk and more interior space all around. You're kind of comparing a Mustang to a Corvette -- apples and oranges. Both of these cars are brilliant in their own respective ways, but even if the GTR came -04 secs ahead, it's still the winner. In the world of racing, .0001 seconds is still a win.

@tinleo333 The difference between the 911 and the GTR is that the 911 manages to have modern technology in its nature while still being very communicative, while being a driver's car. Plus the GTR was built purely for track use, for lap times. The 911 can do track work and feel like it was meant to but still be a good GT car, canyon carver, and everyday driver. That's what the Porsche 911 is. It's everything.

@tinleo333 The 458 Italia is my favorite car but the new 991, the E46 M3 CSL, CLK Black Series, DBS, Zonda F, Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder, they're all up there too. My problem with the GTR is it's too focused on being the fastest around a track. A great car should have the right balance of looks, engineering, handling, sound, luxury, and speed; the GTR's too pegged on the latter.

@tinleo333 Again, I'm not doubting it's abilities I just don't like it. I want a sports car that rewards me for driving well therefore improving me as a driver and enjoying it more. The GTR just corrects everything you do all the time and even voids the warranty if the TC's turned off. There's no building a relationship with the GTR.

Unfortunately you seem to be biased, you only looked at the information you wanted to see. How much does both cars weigh, lets see: 911 Carrera s (3075 pounds), Nissan GTR (3829 pounds) That's 754 pounds more than the Carrera s. That extra 140hp is hauling the extra 754 pounds of weight. Hockenheim is also one of the shorter tracks. Looking closer at your comment you are an idiot, i actually didn't finish reading your comment. Now that i have it seems you are much worse of a fanboy.
