What makes you think 422whp with a cam and FAST intake isn't doable? Some big cam/stock heads cars have made that kind of number with a stock LS6 intake.
I didn't read the rest of the comments, but feel it is necessary to point out that anyone who puts chrome wheels on a car that is supposed to be fast is willing to make compromises that result in slower speed - for looks.... and that means... that they aren't the purists they claim to be. Additionally the same can be said for 4x4's... Chrome rims and 33" tires make no sense for off road.
Search for "1999 camaro very fast". That car had full race axels and slicks. It was also running over 600hp. It ran a 10.77. I'm sure guys like that with probably $30-50k in there car appreciate all you assholes who think an intake and exhaust makes you run 10s.
This car has alot of prep work that goes into it before it goes to the track. I would probably agree with u that it would run a 12 the way it sits on the street but people don't always run the same thing on the street as they do at the track just like I do in my TBSS. I take seats, spare tire, subs and a few other things out when I hit the strip to drop weight. Along with that I take my heavy a** 20's off and put 17" wheels and DR's on to get my times down.
He puts a differnt set of wheels and tires on the car at the strip. It runs those times on with a little spray. The foose wheels he drives around on have a set of what I believe are 295 or 305 street radials on the back and of course smaller on the front. The 422rwhp is on just motor. The stripes and lip kit he took off so it didn't look so Mexican. He bought the car with them. Within a few months of having the car he put over 20 g's into it. Nothing but the body and frame are stock now.

@bigboy14100 i wouldve gone with a 9 inch if it were my car and if i had the money for the custom case. A built ford 9" will outlast any built 12bolt or 10 bolt. The rear ends were the achillies heels on 4th gen camaros.
Chya the LS1's are so easy to mod. With a medium size cam, headers, 85-92mm TB, can put out 430hp. And the stock 98-02 LS1 camaro has 325wrhp, because it had shitty headers, and the stock corvette, i think the c5..? has 350wrhp stock.
show me more than 5 LS1 fbods that dyno 325whp bone stock and 3 c5s that have 350rwhp stock. You cant because thats way too high. 280to300 is the norm 310 to 315 max for a well running 01 02. C5s didnt dyno anyhigher.

I have friends who have dynoed there 2000 camaro at 335hp bone stock. The 98-00 camaro is rated at 310bhp but it is underrated. And the C5s do dyno higher cause the stock headers allow alot more flow. The LS1 is a beautiful engine and even stock is very nice. Plus tuning it with just bolt ons and a cam can produce over 450hp.
actually GM under-rates camaros and other cars for insurance reasons... Most LS1's like trans ams were rated at 305 hp and the ram air option was 325...where as the ACTUAL rating was 325 no ram air... and 350 w/ ram air... there is a video on it i think its Camaro Vs Cobra video by motor week? no doubt in my mind a C5 had 350 whp but id expect an actual rating of 360-375 just because its GM...
@frostbytey Show me the 350whp dyno chart. I know all about these motors and have been around them sin ce 97. They are underrated but 95% of c5s and fbods dyno around 300whp plus or mius 15hp. And insurance doesnt have as much with hp as a combo of crash test ratings, age, and a few other factors. Dyno charts are the proof, not just your mind. and btw this is from a chevy guy.

The exhaust differance between the c5 and fbod is the exhaust not just the manifold. the fbod has a y pipe, which is the differance. The 10 to 15hp will only be on 98 to 00 swapping in an LS6 intake and deleting the EGR. Show me all these stock fbods dynoing 320+whp and Ill give you the link to ls1tech.coms dyno section where they dont. You need to spend some time on ls1tech and learn about these cars before you post this stuff
Have you seen the difference between the stock fbod and c5 exhaust manifolds? They are different and effect the performance! Im actually a member of LS1tech but go ahead give me the dyno time link. Cause with the updated versions of the LS1 with the LS6 intake manifold they can get up to 335hp. But may i remind you in your first posted comments you were saying that stock LS1 fbods get around 280hp..

I worked at a shop in 03-04 and saw many 98-02 fbod dyno over 315 bone stock. couple 01-02 even went over 330 and i started lookin for boltons:) on a side note, i also had a few 95-97 fbod dyno over 300 when they only rated to 275-285...im just sayin...how old are these "stock dyno" sheets. do these cars have 70-80k miles? most I saw had around 20-30k
@jfl187 Then your dyno was off. Ls1tech has the biggest group of knowledgable ls1 tuners and shops supporting it and all are on my side. And id like to see the lt1 sheets dynoing 300whp stock. Stock lt1s usually are in the 240 to 250whp range. Both of mine where.

Sadly, he got rid of it last year and bought a 98 Camaro which he hasn't done anything to yet. Shit good times in that 71 though.

@bigboy14100 lol mine has done very well leaving on a trans brake and all, I dont blame ya'll for not believing the times on my car I dont understand how it runs like it does with such little power but my dyno was on a mustang dyno they are normally little low on the Hp numbers, Car ran a 10.70 @ 133 with a 1.4x 60' time at memphis motorsports park last october

@NoS468 sweet man i ran a 10,50 flat at 142 mph at z-max dragstrip in concord nc how much tourq r u runnin and one big thing is u can have 700hp but if ur suspension aint right ur not gunna do shit i found a vid of a 620hp 99 ss camaro runnin 10.7 at 127mph thats shitty as hell for 620hp he dont have the right set up on it

@bigboy14100 Im running Qa1's up front and bilstein out back, and body has been made a little stiffer with the chromoly cage, you need to make it to the LSX Shootout next comin up year if you can its a great race, and lots of fun gettin to see all the wicked LS powered cars from around the country

@NoS468 i hear that man yea i got the same setup the bilsteins are actually pretty stiff from factory well i know mine was yea i have heard alot about the lsx shootout my tranny is out of the car upping the stall from a 3200 to a 4000 and im thinking about adding a bottle i know it wouldnt hurt my car i have a forged bottom end forged rods pistons crank so i think it will hold atleast a 150 shot maybe a 200?

@bigboy14100 i wouldve gone with a 9 inch if it were my car and if i had the money for the custom case. A built ford 9" will outlast any built 12bolt or 10 bolt. The rear ends were the achillies heels on 4th gen camaros.

Chya the LS1's are so easy to mod. With a medium size cam, headers, 85-92mm TB, can put out 430hp. And the stock 98-02 LS1 camaro has 325wrhp, because it had shitty headers, and the stock corvette, i think the c5..? has 350wrhp stock.

ehh no way man the LT1 f-bodies are rated 300bhp.
I have friends who have dynoed there 2000 camaro at 335hp bone stock. The 98-00 camaro is rated at 310bhp but it is underrated. And the C5s do dyno higher cause the stock headers allow alot more flow. The LS1 is a beautiful engine and even stock is very nice. Plus tuning it with just bolt ons and a cam can produce over 450hp.

actually GM under-rates camaros and other cars for insurance reasons... Most LS1's like trans ams were rated at 305 hp and the ram air option was 325...where as the ACTUAL rating was 325 no ram air... and 350 w/ ram air... there is a video on it i think its Camaro Vs Cobra video by motor week? no doubt in my mind a C5 had 350 whp but id expect an actual rating of 360-375 just because its GM...

@frostbytey Show me the 350whp dyno chart. I know all about these motors and have been around them sin ce 97. They are underrated but 95% of c5s and fbods dyno around 300whp plus or mius 15hp. And insurance doesnt have as much with hp as a combo of crash test ratings, age, and a few other factors. Dyno charts are the proof, not just your mind. and btw this is from a chevy guy.

@mayonnaisehater13 Dyno sheets. and a big tb wont add more than 2 to 3hp due to the stock intake size. No headers on either, manifolds and the c5 had true duals as opposed to y pipe fbod setup and both dyno around the same. From 97 to 04 in all applications 95% dyno 300whp plus or minus 15.

... exhaust manifolds, headers. Same damn thing. And yes they do make a difference because the camaro version are actually very restrictive. TB and intake manifold will add around 10-15hp. Im really surprised at your ignorance that a stock 98-02 camaro will dyno +320hp average.

The exhaust differance between the c5 and fbod is the exhaust not just the manifold. the fbod has a y pipe, which is the differance. The 10 to 15hp will only be on 98 to 00 swapping in an LS6 intake and deleting the EGR. Show me all these stock fbods dynoing 320+whp and Ill give you the link to ls1tech.coms dyno section where they dont. You need to spend some time on ls1tech and learn about these cars before you post this stuff

Have you seen the difference between the stock fbod and c5 exhaust manifolds? They are different and effect the performance! Im actually a member of LS1tech but go ahead give me the dyno time link. Cause with the updated versions of the LS1 with the LS6 intake manifold they can get up to 335hp. But may i remind you in your first posted comments you were saying that stock LS1 fbods get around 280hp..

well, i have to agree with the other guy here. I worked at a shop in 03-04 and saw many 98-02 fbod dyno over 315 bone stock. couple 01-02 even went over 330 and i started lookin for boltons:) on a side note, i also had a few 95-97 fbod dyno over 300 when they only rated to 275-285...im just sayin...how old are these "stock dyno" sheets. do these cars have 70-80k miles? most I saw had around 20-30k

@jfl187 Then your dyno was off. Ls1tech has the biggest group of knowledgable ls1 tuners and shops supporting it and all are on my side. And id like to see the lt1 sheets dynoing 300whp stock. Stock lt1s usually are in the 240 to 250whp range. Both of mine where.

I wish you lived near me. One of my friends ran a 71 Camaro with open headers, which since it increases low rpm torque, would smoke your 6 cilly Mustang. Weigh it down however you want. Sadly, he got rid of it last year and bought a 98 Camaro which he hasn't done anything to yet. Shit good times in that 71 though.
