  • "...affectionately (mumbles) in Glasgow as the Clockwork Orange!" ...Rubbish???

No one in Glasgow calls it this !!!

Its known as the Subway ( ...or even the Underground )!!!

...its only the media that seems to insist on wanting to call it "the Clockwork Orange" in the hope that it'll stick!!!

30 or so years on from it reopening and still no one but the media refers to it as "the Clockwork Orange"

  • Great to see the Rank Bajin, from the old Evening Citzen cartoon strip "Loaby Dosser" at 06:35

  • well kelvinhall is just a bit further on than the old merkland street

  • The reason not many people have heard of it is because it's not that big. It works better than London Underground because it's not as old.

  • @DeanieBoi07 the Glasgow underground is the 3rd oldest in the world behind London and Budapest.

  • @glasgowtommy Yeah, which may be why it works better. It's a circle, its easy for engineering works. Look at the map of the Glasgow Underground map and then look at the London Underground map. We have a huge system that needs updating badly. The Northern line has the oldest signals in the world.

  • Kelvinhall used to be Partick Cross and Merkland St was close to where Partick station is now.

  • its the old partick station

  • Glasgow underground, our great big train set :)
