  • Awesome!!! So bluesy!!

  • @MGdirector Thank you! It's the best blues song ever in my opinion.

  • I'd like to come in your kitchen, Robin. Merry Christmas!!

  • @UKISOCIETY Thru the kitchen door huh? You're always welcome Alan!

  • Wow!!!! This is so incredible. I just came back from Maui (I'm a native New Yorker), and I had a uke shipped home to Brooklyn. I'm a HUGE Clapton fan as well. I'm sure you've seen the DVD Me and Mr. Johnson. I've been tinkering with the uke, and I'm a huge blues fan (I bow down to RJ), so this is incredibly inspiring. Cheers my friend!! Incredible version.

  • @paigemusic23 Thank you very much! No I haven't seen that dvd, but I have to! I love when EC plays RJ.

  • Jimi Hendrix said "Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel." but I think you nailed it there.

  • @littleguitarthing Thanks man, that's a great comment!

  • Hi Really impressed with your blues ukulele arrangements. They fully incorporate the songs but display the unique musicality of the ukulele. I'm a lifetime acoustic blues guitarist and was knocked out by seeing Del Rey recently. She played some amazing uke too. Since then I've been doing some research and have had my eyes opened about the potential of the uke as a blues instrument (especially by your good self). I will have to buy one. What size/make/ strings are you playing? Regards. Alan

  • @Hoops1952 Hey Alan! Thanks for that kind comment! Well, I'm a former blues/rock guitarist myself, but I really do think the uke is a great little blues instrument and not just some funny toy. I have several ukes in different sizes but have come to favor the small soprano size (in this vid I play a concert size). I have several sopranos, but my favorites are a handmade Argapa that my friend Sven build for me (YT name argapaukulele) and a very nice japanese Kiwaya. I prefer Worth Brown strings.

  • @RobertLeroyJohnson Thank you!

  • i dont know how i didnt see this video earlier, my biggest influences are the delta blues men, and robert johnson would be shittin how well you played that song... AWESOME MAN

  • Thank you Keibler! Yeah, Johnson is da shit.

  • I dig your voice. You have soul that won't quit! Love your music!

  • Thank you Ellie!

  • I want to buy a ukulele because of this! What tuning are you playing in?

  • I'm glad you do. I usually play in C-tuning.

  • I could watch you play blues on the uke all day! You play great on all your videos and you've got a really soulful, powerful voice.

I'd love to hear you cover something like Skip James' Hard Time Killing Floor. I'm not sure how easy that would be to transpose to the uke but I bet it would sound incredible!

  • Thanks man, I'll have to check that one out.

  • Great little arrangement. Very nice job on the vocals too!

  • Thanks you!

  • wow man!! that was awesome. did you figure that out on your own or get tabs somewhere? i didnt know you could do that with a uke

  • Thanks man! Well I sort of picked the essential parts out and then just added it to a regular blues pattern.

  • Been watching your vids for a while; this is the total package; the song, the music and the soul. Best work and top drawer.

    Loon

  • Thanks Loon! Yeah, blues is da shit!

  • Thanks man!

  • This is my favorite of your vids, bro. Fierce playing and singing.

  • Thank you Seeso - means a lot coming from you!

  • tab?

  • Sorry, but I don't write tabs. It's a pretty basic blues in A though.

  • Woodshed over at Ukulele Hunt did a tab.

  • Awesome job. Love this version.

  • Thank you!

  • this is great singing and the "rouch style" switch from chords to lead is just too black to be real out of a white guy! What else could I say? Outasite!

  • Thanks!

  • i bet he doesnt put curry on his chips tho

  • One of my fav songs of all time. Great version.

  • Thanks! That's my goal.

  • totally awesome man. outstanding!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks Booze!

  • good version ,you have a tablature ?

  • Thanks! No I don't, but it's pretty much standard blues in A (C-tuning: A7-D7-E7). Play along with it a couple of times and you'll figure it out. Good luck!

  • what brand uke is that i have a lanikai baritone uke. and i just ordered a bushman baritone uke

  • It's a stagg concert UC80-S solid mahogany.

  • thats such a crisp tone from that. very nice!

  • I replaced the original strings with aquilas and that helps the sound too.
