@daddyknobling "Meanwhile im still thinking" from Little Queenie, Horror movie,Satisfaction, Smoke on the water,Sunshine of your love,Ticket to ride, Gloria, Johnny B Good. Very cleverly put together.
I was so lucky to see Skyhooks at a few Uni gigs which were quite intimate with the band right there before you and the sound just amazing ... to hear all the hits was one of the best thrills for me. Even though Red wasn't there I got to hear all the tracks from "Guilty Until Proven Insane" ... I was in 7th Heaven being a 'Hooks fan from way back. This is another brilliant tune ... great riffs, great everything the band in just pumpin' it out ... nzoz1975 you deserve a beer from all of us!
These guys are timeless. Even when I was listening to them as a 10 year old in the mid-70s I knew there was something different about them. For a start, they're actually real musicians - bit of a rarity these days.
an absolutely brilliant live band, even after shirl left and tony williams replaced him. regardless of the theatrics and nonsense, the hooks were totally shithot on even their bad nights. must've seen 'em fifteen times (at least). brilliant.
@hankrango I saw them only once sadly, in 90, Jukebox Tour!
1 of THE best Aussie bands i had EVER seen! They were so tight, you couldnt put a razorblade between them!
The closest i got previously was an incarnation of The Party Boys which was 4/5 Skyhooks! Shirl on vox, Bongo on guitar, Kev Borich in Guitar, McAinsh on Bass and Strauks on drums!
People kept asking for Hooks songs, Shirl kept telling them to Fuck off, saying' we may almost BE Skyhooks but we arent doing ANY hooks songs!'
@ace69er What a great experience that must have been albeit a lil' frustrating. But you can understand that the guys had to keep strictly to the Party Boys theme ... surely tho' one 'Hooks track would have kept the party goin'?
my dad talks of seeing them play at frankston high school before they were anybody... he and his friends were so freaked out they tried to fight them.. now he's a massive fan.. how funny.
Hi NOZ, nice to see the Skyhooks again, it's been a long time. Last seen them back in 1977 when i used to live in Adelaide, I was 16 then and a 10 Pound Pom. Now back living in England. I forgot how good Skyhooks where really enjoyed watching all the Blogs.
take me home to the 70's - Graeme "Shirley" Strachan I miss you

@trampismat it sure WOULD have! After all, the Party Boys WERE strictly a cover band, made up of known, pro musos!

Man, you better believe it. Nobody gave concert like the 'hooks, they would play anywhere, and they had no BS about them. Great days indeed.
