@MilitaryAircraft101 Thankyou. I searched long and hard for the right lettering. Couldn't but it online. In the end had to paint my own, as tricky as that was ;)
isn't the first slide a typhoon? aahhh *sigh* I've got a few canopies that I hate painting. Shall I send them over (pleeeeeaaasseee?). Very good build. Enamel or acrylic?
'XVI' the first bubble canopy spitfire. Typhoons are huge and have a BIG air scoop under the engine. Also x4 cannon!
The music is a bit pretentious but was the only truly dutch music in the public domain, that sounded any good ;) I have no idea what music to use of r my next video on the Fokker G1.
I'm uploading a modelling video right now. I saw TOZO (the new Toyshop in town) had the Academy Spitfire Mk. XIVc. I have built it before, but may well build it again, avoiding the dreadful original kit decals by using spares, and my lettersheets. :) Right now I'm building the Revell 1/72 Mig-21 F13C, it will be East German when done! I recommend the kit. My latest kit finished is a 1/144 B-24 J Liberator though, a video will be posted of that model as well, in due course. I like 1/144 scale. :)
It was a polish kit by 'PZW', accurate outline and bad details just about correctable with some serious effort and a hot knife. Although after gluing the cowling in place I realised it stuck much too far forward than real life - too late to alter :(
I know that company, yaa! The PZL-11 isn't too bad, a lot less detailed than the old Revell kit. The East European PZL-23 is a bad kit though, could be useful as the basic airframe, but it needs an awful amount of work, exhaust, the landing gear, only an overstuffed seat for an interior... :)
As far as I know the PZW PZL11c is the only model with the right overall shape, but you have to be a skilled builder to add all the detail.
There I was cutting uot the oil filer and adding layers of plastic card, making slits in the cowling with a hot knife, making little indentations for the machine guns, cutting the prop blades off and re-attaching much further up (nightmare) - then I stuck the cowling over the cone shaped bit and realised it stuck way out than it should.
Nice kit that XIV, but I murdered mine with lack of care (wrong interior green, sloppy spraypainting and poor fit of 5 piece prop) - but that was long ago...
I'm impressed, as always.. Beautiful model, and well done with the letters!! Have borrowed my sisters computer for 5 minutes, just to show off Barney the Dog, but I will spare her the KurtGnu antics, ha ha ha.. :) Had a great time in Elsinore, Denmark, lots of videos and a few photos.. and a postcard for you too! I hope to make the F10 Museum tomorrow.. Will view this again when Im back in England! In the meantime, have fun! Rob KurtGnu
Yep.. In the Austrian Hanger, I believe.. where the Austrian Draken planes where based while the pilots trained on them.. :) Back in England now, this is the first video I've watched since I came back.. :)
Good good.. I couldn't find one (postcard) at the F10 museum, but as I wanted to show some of my home village anyway it didn't really matter! And yes, it was a very good trip, not to say excellent!! I found a Heller Saab Safir, which pleases me more than anything.. :) Hope to post some videos in the week.. :)
Ha ha ha ha.. Yes, Orkelljunga did have the best Volleyball team in Sweden, but sadly no more! Still, I guess it was hard work at the top, and they slipped down.. but I think they'll come back again! :)
ahhh...a new video from you..heheh..very pretty Dave..you are so much interested to pilots and planes history,I like that on you..You have big survey of information..sorry about the F-22 video..The model is done, but I dont have time to finish the vid..I keep in touch..give some days..
The Spit itself is again very nice, looking a bit odd with the bubble canopy... But what is more noteworthy is the research you are obviously doing. I didn#T know Bram Stoker wrote not only Dracula, but also fought (with sligthly altered name)in WWII as a dutch pilot!
You are only the 3rd person to mention dracula in my comments ;D But to be honest I had never even realised the name looked like Bram Stoker until I posted this ;)
Very nice, the Dutch tend to be kind of forgotten in the history of WWII. Our (meaning Canadian) soldiers liberated the place. Plus the Dutch were pretty active Free Dutch air and naval units and the Resistance as well.
well done. I always thought allied markings in Britain followed RAF routine, letters only. Our B17s were letters only in the larger markings. Probably smaller numerals on the tail, I did like that bit where the propeller spun! and to let you know my skills level, the first exhibit of the 3w would have been my completed step. :)
Thanks, I've been meaning to do an Australian ace plane for some time. Clive 'killer' Caldwell would be top of the list, although I should really get off my behind and finish the CAC-15 kangaroo vacu-form kit I started years ago (If you don't know it was one of the finest pieces of Australian, or anyone's for that matter fighter design)
My main, and questionable source for details is 'acesofww2', an excellent and exciting site covering the aces of all nations.
As for the kit, its the Heller one in 1/72 (black plastic). Even though it was designed in 1979 it still makes a decent looking spitfire, perhaps with a lot of modification (re-scribing panel lines). I made one of these but never finished because the wing angle was crap, but this time it was the slight tilt in the rudder :(
... and the undercarriage struts + doors came from an Airfix spit (the heller struts were too thin).
I said there are no 322 decals, but there used to be a company called 'dutch decal' who did these exact planes, their colour profile at least was helpful in choosing a spinner blue.
Very nice build! You did a brilliant job with the lettering!... and it all makes a superb end result.. :)

@2002And Thanks :), I tend to make flying models now on a different channel (smiertspionem is the old one)

@GerbilEssences Yes, I know, I have been on your newer channel lots of times.. :)

you did beautifully on the markings, but i would still suggest investing in a lettering sheet... !!!

It all sounds v. exciting! I hope to start my eurofighter soon but not until after I finish the dreaded PZL 11C
SmiertSpionem 3 years ago
A PZL 11C? One of the Eastern European kits, the Heller model, or the old, old Revell one? Either way it sounds exciting!

yes, that changed peoples lives.

I just mentioned it as part of his varied career, he probably saved a good few people as a doctor and then a coastguard.

Do you have any idea where I can get correct colour profiles for the Fokker G-1?
I have got one, but I also need a scheme for the underside of the aircraft.
It's quite resourceful to use a guitarstring in a modelkit btw :-D

Thansk (the white lettering was quite a challenge but a welcome one, the black letters were ready made - phew!)
