I went to HS with Jerry Murtaugh, Dick Davis and Bob Churchich and my wife went with Johnny Rogers. We still watch the archives of those games and the later years under Osborne. I know of no other division 1A program has been more to educate in every way the men who participate. Scholasic, character and team spirit all are part of that program.
It really is an honor to have the Huskers in our conference. Many Badger fans rooted for Nebraska because of Alvarez and now we can compete on the gridiron every year, it give me goosebumps. Enough with the nice talk, lets get a little Big Red Rivalry going.

weve been consistently good over time that shows you why we have the 4th most wins all time in college football. most consecutive sellouts. the list goes on. its tradition. and in the 2000's things have changed. recruiting for one. more no name teams are getting better talent thus are competing. we obviously had some big coaching changes but once we get it goin again its no tellin how good we CAN be.
You see, we aren't labeled the best fans in all of football, because Husker Football lacks support from it's fans, but rather because Husker fans are the most loyal fans there are anywhere! It's not just the wins and losses, national championships won, or conference titles, etc.., it's because our history of success for decades was accomplished the right way! Devaney and Osborne cared about their players and led the conference in ACADEMIC all Americans. It was a great place where poor farm kids with athletic ability could get a college degree and open doors for their future. Certainly their lives proved this and the tradition has served the players, students and the citizens of the state very, VERY well. dez bryant doesnt play defense nor allow 35 second half points. the only time oregon was stopped was on missed field goals and 4th down. bryant played all first half and they only put up 17!
you can't rely on one player. period. oregon was the better team.

Devaney and Osborne cared about their players and led the conference in ACADEMIC all Americans. It was a great place where poor farm kids with athletic ability could get a college degree and open doors for their future. Certainly their lives proved this and the tradition has served the players, students and the citizens of the state very, VERY well. I went to high school with a couple of Cornhusker QBs and my wife graduated with Johnny Rodgers.

I've seen people brag about the past, I live in Alabama. I hear "12 championships" everyday. I can say the difference between Nebraska and other teams is the integrity of the fans built by tradition. I've lived a couple of different places and the respect I've seen from Nebraska fans beats all. It's been tough recently and it's comforting to look to the past, but tradition doesn't die.
