Can't they do at least ONE re-enacted battle where the Germans win? Fed up with seeing the American tanks stroll across the field, shot after shot from AT guns at them just being ignored, and the Germans surrendering en-masse...
Outstanding job w/ the camera angles! Great reenactment scenes, vehicles etc. Obviously Midway Museum does a great job! I attend WW2 Days at the Reading Pa. Airport every year. Check out their site.
awesome though im not being mean but the USA always seem to be glamourised in ww2 yet they joined late same with ww1 even though the english were more famouse in ww1 its just that we fort as many battles as you did
@moddingtalk321 Victory in the west would have been impossible without them, time has just let it go to their head and made them forget the efforts of other nations
@TheTonytiger89 as i agree with you that the usa helped we wouldnt of lost the western front plus if we held a line then once the russians took the eastern front we would of one
patton should of taken charge of market garden because Montgomery underestimated the ss crack troops, he used tactics from africa , droped troops to far behind enermy lines. while patton has more experiance than him
What most people dont get is that the German army won as many small fights as the US did, they just didnt make it into the history books. The US didnt realy start to make a dent untill it got into italy. At the time The German Army of WWII was the best in the world ! They lost the war becouse of two fronts, not enough men, overly confident or insane leaders, and one nut job named hitler. Have respect for both German and US troops of the time. And yes I reenact as a german.
I thought the video was well done. As for who won and why...it is scripted like most reenactments LOL. Great vehicles that not seen up my end very often. Is there a place for a Cdn PPCLI unit to attend?
Excellent video the music was superb...it reminded me of the music I used in my Civil War video. The music for my battle scene was by "Nightwish" and the song was "Bless the Child" if you get a chance please watch it and let me know what you think...the video is ...... "2010 CIVIL WAR REENACTMENT, MINOOKA / CHANNAHON, IL"
@TheRodski00 You look like a military enthusiast and you should know that having the better toys doesn't always mean you'll win. What is more notorious: the Sherman or the Tiger? The Browning or the MG42? The US Howitzer or the German 88mm? Yet who won the Western Front? In battle, the toys mean nothing, the men are everything. There's nothing propagandistic w/ the US winning, especially when there were MANY American WW2 veterans witnessing the reenactment. (By the way, the US had 3 tanks here.)
Yeah u r right "they" won the western front BUT(!) u are missing one important fact: They did not win because they were better - they were more in numbers. So considering the fact the Germans had more AND better equipment they should have won. A lot of US stuff in WW2 was crap(M1919,Boots,Sherman), There were just a few things which were awesome on the other hand (e.g. The Garand)
Assessing this particular fight the Germand had a Pak40,Pak36, LeIG18 and a Hetzer.
The Pak36 is sufficent to punch through the armor of the Lee, one sherman would be dead for sure aswell as the pak40 would kill him as well, especially if you grant the Germans the "ambush-bonus" In addition to that the Hetzer would have killed the second Sherman easily while the sherman would have had trouble taking out the nice sloped armor of the Hetzer
Oh and I almost forgott, Letting dudes go crouch or standing in the middle of a battle is never very smart considering the germans had at least 2 MG34s.
PS: And a nice part of the victory in RL was the air superiority which is not given in this battle so your argument is invalid. Merry XMas
@HarbingerOfAbaddon I'm not interested in arguing over a staged reenactment. But I will say this: the thing about history buffs, especially modern history buffs, and most reenactors too, is they get lost in names and numbers, usually of weapons. None of these matter. What matters is human experience and the lessons to be had from those experiences. If it does not enrich the way we live our lives and the way we view the world and its people, it is mere trivia. (cont'd in next post.)
@HarbingerOfAbaddon (cont’d) When I watch this event, I see the greater human movements that impacted mankind at large, and the soldiers at small. Whether a LeIG18 could beat an M1919 or not is fun information, but its useless to you and me. Too many viewers get distracted by the paraphernalia that they overlook what is really meaningful. What is? The men underneath all that stuff and what we can learn from their experiences to better our own lives. My Rockford 2011 video expresses this better.
Sorry but I definitely see no way to get experience for my life from people who are displaying men killing each other lol but thats maybe just me. By the way, why using all this historical stuff while neglecting historical facts and values? In my eyes you are just trying to find an excuse for this propagandic display.
Probably one of the worse displays Ive seen so far. - sorry.
@thetruekingofnorway By the looks of it, the Americans only had 3 light tanks (Stuarts I'm thinking) the Pak 40 and that Hetzer would definitely had made short work of them. The infantry may not have been so lucky. I have to agree that this is kinda of one sided to the Americans considering the German MGs and Anti-Tank guns in a defensive position would definitely have taken down those tanks and a large amount of infantry considering most were standing or grouped up crouched
@MidnightAngel357 youhave to remeber at public reenactments the germans have to lose because the germans were the "bad guys " so the americans "good guys" always wins
@50TNCSA Not necessarily. We do an Operation Market Garden scenario in Huntersville, NC every May and the Germans 9/10 times win it mostly because Market Garden was a strategic failure.
@thetruekingofnorway Another item: I would say a third or better of the Western Front had non-German soldiers namely Russians and Poles who were hardly enthusiastic about fighting their otherwise allies....
@thetruekingofnorway Both the men and the gear has something to say. A man with a browning can kill a man with a mg42, but it is almost imposible for a sherman to take out a tiger,
@thetruekingofnorway to be honest i understand what he is on about but i think he may have misworded it its not propaganda but i have seen allot of these reenactments and it is funny how the allied forces always win unless you are in Ireland
@TheRodski00 at the end of the day people do these reenactments to have fun!! and it also about who turns up with what as not everybody can own a tank or big gun... and before you ask i'm a reenactor my self.
I do not think that in war the soldiers were fighting in the open field. also everything is going too slowly. I would fear if the Americans would come up the hill and I would hide myself. and In the video the enemy lines are 10 meters apart!
@stroublbua In most parts of France, combat was often fought in open fields and farmlands, as in the video. Also, if the troop movements were faster, infantry would be rushing farther back before the PaK guns and vehicles, and therefore they would be vulnerable. Also, the enemy lines looked fine, based on the terrain. No offense, as everybody has to learn at some point, but this re-enactment is actually top-notch.
@thetruekingofnorway What music did you use for this? Thank you for posting this, it's a lot of fun to see me on the battlefield from the spectator's point of view.
@bunnybread456 As a WWII reenactor myself, that's a sure fire way to get kicked out of a unit and guarantee to never be able to join another one again. No one actually does that.
i really need to know, when you are ou there shooting. do you get that feeling like, 'holy shit, these guys are really shooting at me, they wanna kill me.' :D
@alexshoot In a real battle, yes Pak40 would of most likely taken out those Shermans and Stuart, but for a good show, you need to make it fun and exciting for the audience, so therefore the Americans have to win :P
I have seen many a reenactment on YouTube and without a doute the ww2hrs is a balls on high standard organization this video is great. By the way I am in this,go 709th
I apologize if this question has already been answered, but I couldn't find it digging through the comments. What song or songs are used in this video? Thank you very much for your time.
I have to say though, That the Pak40 and Jagdpanther would have decimated the Two sherman's, Though since special effect's of destroyed or knocked out vehicle's in Re-enacting is limited it would have been enough to place Smoke device's to display they have been knocked out, and the People directing the Re-enactment will perhaps taint some of the fact's to glorify america for the audience. The Jagdpanther and Pak40 were accompanied by a weaker pak36 and a few soldier's with Panzerschek's.
at 4:32 the man by the jeep in the background seem's to be holding a Japanese type 99 Lmg, I am assuming this by the sight of the Upward and Curved ammo clip. I am not familiar with any American WWII firearm that had that feature.
@The6thssNORD Do you mean that the Re-enactor's are British, Or do you mean the Soldier's they are Portraying? The White Star on the Tank's was the Standard U.S symbol for Vehicle's at that time i beleive and the Soldier at 4:06 is wearing a Chicago USA division Jacket. I do apologize if i am wrong, I'm merely stating what i am noticing here.
@ForgottenWolf88 The Re-enactor's are portraying British my mistake for not clarifying. But yes that was an American with the Chicago USA jacket but there are both American and British being portrayed on the Allied side of this battle thus the Bren LMG referred to before.
great video, however, te german troops are missing nearly half of their gear. how about some y-straps, messtins, GASMASK CANISTERS SHOVELS these are things that the soldat would not "leave somewhere"
@chizzlification Historically, yes you are correct. But if are in a very big hurry and you have literally 30 seconds to grab what you can, I think I'd grab my helmet, rifle, and ammo before anything else...just saying :P
@chizzlification Actually mechanized troops tended to leave gear in their vehicles. As modern day, it depended upon the operation. Original photos show a wide variety depending upon the situation; everything from full A-Frame load to nothing but a waist belt and ammo pouches. Common sense really, you bring what you might need per the given objective.
@Gregiorp I think it is all made up who get shot, but there is sometimes a problem with that cause some people playing on the US think they won the war, so they should ALWAYS win so I've seen that in a couple vids before =/
The artilery piece at 1:10 is super rare there are only 7 left in the world and the radio at 3:00 is rare too im glad i was there to see them in person!
@1OFTHEBOYS808 Really? Never heard of the Volkssturm have you. It consisted of German civilians drafted into the German army during most of 1945. So, yes there were 50 year old German and even Soviet soldiers fighting in the war :)
@1OFTHEBOYS808 Also, MPs were often drafted from the civilian police force or were senior combat NCOs who had been in the military before the war. The average age was 30-40 for MP. Anti-partisan police rifle regiments were usually made up of guys aged 20-50. There are plenty of photos of regular army units with 30-40 year old guys. One thing Germany didn't discriminate was the eligibility to die for the Fatherland. Heck, 2,000,000 guys in the German army weren't even German.
@1OFTHEBOYS808 There were soldiers of all ages in WWII. Some as young as 16 & 17, & some were well over 50. Many of the german officers had been in the military their whole lives & were quite old. There were also the fair share of chubbies on all sides. If they could pass the fit tests & make it into the military, they didn't care how skinny or fat you were. MOST were between the ages of 18 & 22, & physically fit, but not ALL of them. Read up on your history boy & talk to some real veterans.

@K9mauser Ya I thought the same thing when I was there. The Germans had more firepower they should have won! lol

Where can I get a Reenactment M1 Garand?
predator5861 8 months ago
@predator5861 You will most likely have to buy a real M1 Garand and use blanks with it, and most likely get a blank adapter.

world war 2 cannot be reenacted to full extent
this isnt war
war is killing people and the stench of death and seeing people die every minute
this is probobly the closest you would ever get to a world war
great job :)

I apologize if this question has already been answered, but I couldn't find it digging through the comments. What song or songs are used in this video? Thank you very much for your time.
Therewasatime109 10 months ago
I have to say though, That the Pak40 and Jagdpanther would have decimated the Two sherman's, Though since special effect's of destroyed or knocked out vehicle's in Re-enacting is limited it would have been enough to place Smoke device's to display they have been knocked out, and the People directing the Re-enactment will perhaps taint some of the fact's to glorify america for the audience. The Jagdpanther and Pak40 were accompanied by a weaker pak36 and a few soldier's with Panzerschek's.
ForgottenWolf88 10 months ago
@ForgottenWolf88
its not a jagdpanther, its a hetzer.

at 4:32 the man by the jeep in the background seem's to be holding a Japanese type 99 Lmg, I am assuming this by the sight of the Upward and Curved ammo clip. I am not familiar with any American WWII firearm that had that feature.
ForgottenWolf88 10 months ago
@ForgottenWolf88 Those arn't Americans. They're British and its a Bren Light Machine Gun.
The6thssNORD 10 months ago
@The6thssNORD Do you mean that the Re-enactor's are British, Or do you mean the Soldier's they are Portraying? The White Star on the Tank's was the Standard U.S symbol for Vehicle's at that time i beleive and the Soldier at 4:06 is wearing a Chicago USA division Jacket. I do apologize if i am wrong, I'm merely stating what i am noticing here.
ForgottenWolf88 10 months ago
@ForgottenWolf88 The Re-enactor's are portraying British my mistake for not clarifying. But yes that was an American with the Chicago USA jacket but there are both American and British being portrayed on the Allied side of this battle thus the Bren LMG referred to before.
The6thssNORD 10 months ago
@ForgottenWolf88 hes a brit using a Bren LMG

great video, however, te german troops are missing nearly half of their gear. how about some y-straps, messtins, GASMASK CANISTERS SHOVELS these are things that the soldat would not "leave somewhere"
chizzlification 10 months ago
@chizzlification Historically, yes you are correct. But if are in a very big hurry and you have literally 30 seconds to grab what you can, I think I'd grab my helmet, rifle, and ammo before anything else...just saying :P
K9mauser 10 months ago
@chizzlification Actually mechanized troops tended to leave gear in their vehicles. As modern day, it depended upon the operation. Original photos show a wide variety depending upon the situation; everything from full A-Frame load to nothing but a waist belt and ammo pouches. Common sense really, you bring what you might need per the given objective.

Ive always wondered how do you determine who gets shot?
Gregiorp 10 months ago
@Gregiorp I think it is all made up who get shot, but there is sometimes a problem with that cause some people playing on the US think they won the war, so they should ALWAYS win so I've seen that in a couple vids before =/

your guys are old or fat ww2 they were young 19 years old not 50 years old
1OFTHEBOYS808 11 months ago
@1OFTHEBOYS808 Really? Never heard of the Volkssturm have you. It consisted of German civilians drafted into the German army during most of 1945. So, yes there were 50 year old German and even Soviet soldiers fighting in the war :)
K9mauser 11 months ago
@1OFTHEBOYS808 Also, MPs were often drafted from the civilian police force or were senior combat NCOs who had been in the military before the war. The average age was 30-40 for MP. Anti-partisan police rifle regiments were usually made up of guys aged 20-50. There are plenty of photos of regular army units with 30-40 year old guys. One thing Germany didn't discriminate was the eligibility to die for the Fatherland. Heck, 2,000,000 guys in the German army weren't even German.
Tsumanne 11 months ago
@1OFTHEBOYS808 There were soldiers of all ages in WWII. Some as young as 16 & 17, & some were well over 50. Many of the german officers had been in the military their whole lives & were quite old. There were also the fair share of chubbies on all sides. If they could pass the fit tests & make it into the military, they didn't care how skinny or fat you were. MOST were between the ages of 18 & 22, & physically fit, but not ALL of them. Read up on your history boy & talk to some real veterans.
