  • Nature made a mistake. Why the penis-breast combination?

  • Robert Fulghum is LIFE! So happy you brought him up.

  • Miranda July writes fiction, loosely based on personal experiences.

    Hope that helped.

  • SPENCERSSS <333

  • I would. This is the first full video I have watched of you. Wow, you are freaking awesome. The title was what got me. I will continue reading. I had been wanting some new books to read. :)

  • DAVID SEDARIS IS MY FAVORITE!!! Oh, my god, I love Me Talk Pretty One Day!

Maybe you should try When You are Engulfed in Flames or Holidays on Ice!

I'm reading When You are Engulfed in Flames right now! He's absolutely hilarious.

  • Hey AJ! I took your recommendation of 'The ethical slut'...omg, Thank you so much! I'm about half way through & loving it! Sounds like sextopia to me, hoping that the second half of the book is going to tell me the best route to slutdom! Loving your work as always!x

  • i'm glad you like it! enjoy the rest.

  • Of course reading gets you laid.

    So does wearing glasses.

    frames=fuck..

    cough? er...that's what ... I always.....

    say.

  • Oh so that's where I've been going so wrong with the ladies... I don't have any shelves in my room! Argh. Better get myself down to Ikea quick sharp..

  • The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night was an amazing book..thanks for the author suggestions ive been looking for something new to read!

  • Shout outs to Poe and John Waters? You're makin' this Baltimore girl swoon!

You should try another David Sedaris book, same concept as Robert Fulghum's tales of life and lessons learned, but funnier, to me at least.

Other authors I dig? I'm glad you asked! For starters as I could name a million...Jeffrey Eugenides, Mark Z. Danielewski, Stephen King still rings my bell, Christopher Moore. Wow, don't I like any female authors? Gotta check into that.

Yay for books and buried treasure!

  • "I often see people on the streets dressed as objects and handing out leaflets. I tend to avoid leaflets but it breaks my heart to see a grown man dressed as a taco. So, if there is a costume involved, I tend not only to accept the leaflet, but to accept it graciously, saying "Thank you so much" and thinking "you poor pathetic son of a bitch. I don't know what you have, but I hope I never catch it." - David Sedaris, Holidays On Ice. (I recommend).

  • I love the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. So funny.

  • A good Channel and interesting / fun vids. Cheers!

As regards the Read Books = Get laid. Thats not my experience sadly but then I'm a hideous troll with a crumbling flat (appartment) kept up by books. Not a good look but thats why alcohol and dimmer switches were invented for.

  • Agreed.. Miranda July is amazing, she sings and does performance art aswell! SUPER talented lady if you ask me!!

  • Yay people who read! Yay books!

  • POE!!! My mom used to read Poe to my 3rd grade class!! Loved it!!

  • jumpergirl3066

sorry you took such offense. I suppose it wasn't necessary.

I simply know someone that worked there, and it drove them crazy when people referred to it as "Spencers."

Point taken, all-in-all. However, if you want to point out rudeness, make sure you don't fire back with a retort. Especially one that implies you know what the collective audience thinks.

  • Hey,

i'd recommend Holidays on Ice and Dress your family in corduroy and denim by david sedaris. i'm actually in the middle of me talk pretty.. and while i think it is very good (and i love how you can pick it up after a long time without reading it and read any of the stories) i have to say the other two are AMAZING. Esp. Holidays on Ice. You can pick it up and read it in one sitting.

so yeah..i'd recommend that one for you :)

  • I haven't been to Spencers in years...that place is funny, how random that you came upon the gift card in your book.

  • i know at that moment, i guess picking up old books isnt so bad!

  • I have that same Edgar Allen Poe book!

    :D

  • Spencer gifts. No "s" on the end.

    Sorry, can't help but correct.

  • And, that was completely mature and appropriate!

  • YEAHHH

  • I love Miranda July. Thanks for suggesting her book. I'll look for it.

Great quote that one about not having books on the shelfs... I have so many books, girls. LOL XD

  • haha i love spencers!!! oh, and i will totes check these authors out

  • thank goddess there are other book nerds out there! I joined not ONE but TWO book clubs! Each week Im gleefully reading my books and get excited to talk about them in the book clubs. Its true, Im more attracted to a butch, when I learn that they read books, but if they can then intellectually discuss a book...woah..theres the panty dropper!!

  • RF is a great author, I love his stuff.

  • David Sedaris - Santaland Diaries LOVE HIM

  • the curious incident of the dog in the night time was a good book. im reading Dress Your Family in Courduroy and denim right now!

  • I loved the curious incident of the dog in the night time, it was so interesting. The character was so quirky.

  • Awesome video. I love to read and I am always looking for something to read. Thanks for the suggestions!

  • haha the reason you find stuff is because you need to get a bookmarker lol i do the same things:)

  • you're so right! i know i was using it to mark the page and then forgot!

  • I love Spencers!!

You should raffle off the gift card . . . to me

And now I don't feel like such a nerd for starting out so many of my vids with the books I'm reading

  • In the best way possible this video totally reminded me of Reading Rainbow

  • i hope that's a good thing!

  • haha that's so funny! i just finished reading "a curious incident of the done in the nighttime" for advanced engish, it's pretty good. im really interesed in autism so i knew i would like it before even starting it.

  • Well then Mr. Waters, I should be getting banged all damn day and night with the amount of books surrounding me! HA. lol

  • i didnt see any books last time i was at your place - maybe thats why we didnt have sex...haha

  • Maybe because you were busy talking to the tidy bowl man instead of looking at the multiple bookshelves in my office and bedroom. HA HA

  • hum...yeah that might be why...bad night :P

  • great video, lots of books yall read. i started to think i was the only book worm in the world. Anyways hope your doing great and get better if your getting sick. take care!

  • I've never read any of these! This is great for my book list. I'm a total bibliophile, so It's very likely I'm going to go buy most of these.

  • I totally adore Miranda July's book! I think your book chat is fabulous! I hope you'll have another sometime.

  • But I need more shelves for all my books....why don't I get laid more?

Maybe I should start carrying a picture of my books with me...

  • ...Dress Your Family in Cuordroy and Denim? I think. XD that's the best Sedaris book. Me Talk Pretty One Day is only good when they talk about Paul Sedaris. I think i totally spelling error'd the title hardcore, though.

  • This was my favorite video of yours :)

  • haha, this video? pray tell, why!?

  • try "when you are engulfed in flames" by sedaris.

    i liked it.

    thanks for the shoutout! :)

  • I have tx to see Sedaris in Oct. Super excited!

  • My partner felt the same way about Sedaris... I think maybe he read one book and liked it and then tried to read another and just couldn't get into it...

    great quote btw.
