Here is the breakdown:

1. It honors only one race.

2. While African-Americans can be included in the Dean's and President's Lists, no other race can participate in the racial-centric one for African Americans.

3. There is no similar honor system for any other racial group.

How this doesn't qualify as racial segregation is something I'd be interested to hear you explain. As far as I can see, a rose is a rose by any other name.

The honor is not on YouTube. It is on the Wall across from the registrar's office in the main hall of the main student center.

That's what happens when any group of people goes through 30 generations of forced manual labor and legally-mandated non-education. You're going to find that their bloodline starts to include a lot of great athletes and not as many strong intellects. Over the centuries this will reverse itself.

I'm referring to any descendants of any group that goes through a forced environment that warps their characteristics. It's the ENVIRONMENT that I'm referring to, the environment is the cause. It just happens to CORRELATE roughly with people of dark skin in America. But if you define the group by their dark skin, you will include a lot of people who shouldn't be in that group and won't display the characteristics. And generally exclude some who do have the characteristics but not the skin color.

If I was a separatist, that would be ideal. I prefer reform from within, using the mediums of radio, newspaper, blogs, and student activism.

The school, overall, is quite good. There is always the good, the bad, and the ugly, regardless of where you go.

To encourage students to just "leave" rather than attempt to make a difference (which this video did within 12 hours), is absurd... unless you are a separatist.

It's not about being a separatist- it's about knowing your possible options and knowing when to cut your losses.

If there are better schools available and I don't know about them, then I only have myself to blame.

If my school is pretty bad and there aren't better schools out there, then there is an opportunity for me start my own school.

If my school isn't that bad, then yeah, trying change from within is a better choice.

People often forget- it is easier to change yourself than others.

Have you heard about Geert Wilders? He is a Dutch MP and he was banned from entering Britain because he was going to show his movie in our House of Lords. Now on the other hand, if they were to raise the African American Wall of Success GPA to 3.5, would that solve the "problem"? Probably not, unless the regular honor rolls just have so many pictures that you can't locate the AA students on it easily (if it's just for visibility). Of course having duplicate rolls for different races/ethnicities/genders with the same standards could still serve the "highlight" function if that's the real issue

Sounds like the "well meaning" intention was to put up an honor roll specifically for black students, hoping to "encourage" them to excell, but yes, it sends the wrong message (Ie: we'll lower the bar for AA students because they aren't as good at academics? could be worse, just think if they put up a "Mexican American Wall of Success" and set the GPA at 2.5? or fill in any group you want to "help" and insult at the same time)

If there will be a large ratio of minorities on the mediocre wall, they have no one to blame but themselves.

This idea is not created to show that racial minorities are delinquents, but rather to make the entire collegiate body become aware of their academic progress and try to attain a greater GPA.

If the Black Americans want their own, separate wall to display honor roll students, I suggest we create a "negative honor roll," or a "mediocre wall" for all students.

Every student (of all races) that receives a cumulative GPA of 2.0-2.5 will have his/her picture on that huge roll. This would encourage students to perform better to try to attain the Dean's List (3.5) or the President's List (4.0).
