  • It's not a good idea to teach younger players mistakes......get it right or leave it alone.

  • The author asked for my comment, when you fucked up the riff.......

  • Nice lick...good to promote the man himself...the lick is from the beginning of Honey Bee and it's almost there :!

Thanks for the effort bro !

  • yeah! at least hes not off on the killing fields of afganistan with the rest of the Dick heads! well done ,keep it up .If the critics are so good, why dont they post a few how to vids. Basic blues riffs , every guitarist uses a library of licks and riffs ,just like Authors use a dictionary.

  • that's also classic T-bone Walker!

  • great playing, dont mind those haters comments

  • Your are not playing it correctly...hello

  • @onerelic dont watch then, hes trying to give basics over to learner Guitarists, whats the problem

  • This Is Played At The Start Of... "Couldent Stand The Weather" SRV

  • the songs honey bee

  • 00:19 - 00:20 haha

  • There are two little wrong notes on this lick/riff. First: The lick starts with the Major 3rd, not bending the G string on the 4th of the Bb pentatonic. Second: On the 1st string it is a cromatic passage: C, B and Bb. The pull-off (legato) occurs between the B and Bb. Anyway, it`s quite similar and good.

  • FAIL

  • sounds like texas flood intro xD

  • Nice that you are trying to help the younger players out there but you do, in fact, have the lick wrong.

  • @bikerindallas And who asked you for such a fucked up sour commetn, shithead?

  • Appreciate you helping the beginners out there, but you do in fact have the lick wrong.

  • @bikerindallas hey i am looking for a version that has it right...any suggestions, besides listening to stevie a whole lot...which i love to do by the way

  • @sw3210 try username gr8bluesgtr and look for SLOW BLUES lesson. he does beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons. i am learning intermediate, he breaks it down very simply.

  • @sw3210 just click onto his channel and type in SLOW BLUES SOLO in the search box. hope this helps=)

  • i love it and ur good but dude come if u daunt know the song that ur playing that sad

  • Very good instructional video. Don't pay attention to stupid comments. Congratulations.

  • what gauge strings you using?

  • you got it wrong ,go listen to stevie again and than teach others.

  • I did a lesson on Honey Bee. Tune.

  • Please check out my vids people. More videos wil be posted today between 6-8 pm. Every SUBSCRIBE i get i will return with one to you. Comment and Private Message me on ideas.

  • Sounds like Pride and Joy..

  • terrible.. stevie was clean this guy is sloppy

  • what is the point of this video?

  • this is mental, so many idiots having a go at a bloke whos taken a few minutes to whack a quick vid on here for beginners to have a look at, I dont understand why fellow "guitarists" would have a go at another, just shows how many fucking dick heads play the guitar just to seem cool when actually theyre clearly pricks! This guy has made a bit of effort for beginners to learn a basic blues style lick which sounds awesome when you get it right!!! Im sick of idiots!!!!!!! Well done Man, keep it up!

  • @MrPapaStone Very well said.

  • @MrPapaStone lmao , its the internet mate , evryone knows it all here , right? Well said fella totally agree. I will say though this aint no basic lick lol not for me anyway , im struggling like fuck with it , just this guy is that good he makes it look piss easy. ;) cheers

  • @MrPapaStone Exactly. I think people should respect someones playing if they are trying hard and doing it right...not completely put their playing down for whatever reason..

  • @MrPapaStone I agree. It just goes to show how many young-ass, no class, juveniles log on & try to be funny, or whatever. Of course they have no hair on their balls & even less wisdom than their bald balls. Fuck em. This guy is one of the many nice individs who volunteer their info for the benefit of whomever could benefit from his lesson, be it a beginner or whatever. And if you're NOT a beginner..well..it doesn't give you a right to bust on someone trying to help beginners. Fuck all idiots.

  • @MrPapaStone I agree. I'm all for anyone who makes a real effort to help someone learn something musical. I don't care if it's a guitar or not. I just like the simple fact that this guy made an effort to help others learn.

  • Youre thinking of Honey Bee

  • uhmm....is this s'posed 2 b like an instuctional vid or something?

  • the middle finger should be playing the note a half step down

  • It's called "Honey Bee" and you're FUCKING it up bro. BAD!

  • You mean TEXAS FLOOD played wrong?

  • is this meant to be scuttle buttin' or what? o_0

  • @lolocaustism

    honey bee*

  • Most famous or not, correct or not. I dig this riff and your sound. Thanks for the vid!

  • crack smoking and guitar teaching do not mix well.

  • @YayhooTube hahahahahahahaha

  • hope your not a srv fan

  • This is not SRV's most popular riff.

Be careful when you title when you use the master's name.

  • that song is called huney bee :)

  • Texas Flood?

  • Famous for you. That was a lesser known song I dont even know what it is and i know alot about stevie and i know he didnt use that riff much. I would say I very popular and well known lick would have to be The sky is crying.

  • Seriously this was a shitty vid. If your going to do this then learn the name of the song jackass. I knew what it was the second you started playing. Great 56s guitar lesson. Fuck you suck balls.

  • @kingdeadly1 well if your going to write a comment like this then if you know what the song is then why dont you tell him and not be a total douche.

  • @guitarfreakRSS why don't you read the fucking comments jackass. Then you might see that someone has commented one the name of the song already. Fucking idiot

  • @kingdeadly1 I read the comment whos the jackass now I read it way before I replyed to your comment. Thats beside the point if your going to write a comment like that then why cant you have the balls to say the song i'll bet you dont even know the name.

  • Nice work!

  • Don't listen to them man. First of all; the song is Honey Bee, not Texas Flood(it's supposed to be in half step) and you are a phenominal guitarist and many guitarists WISH they could play like SRV or even play his music.

  • sounds like its plugged into your ass!you suck!and do everyone a favor dont imitate SRV ever again

  • dude...fail. The song ur talking about is Texas Flood, and ur not even playing the riff correctly..

  • the hammer/pull on is a b9 not a natural 2 (bnatural not c)

  • Actually, this structure stems from T-Bone Walker, and this exact lick and I mean exact is in Lynrd Skynrd's Guitar Intro to I Know a Little...I'm sure SRV, with know discredit to him, (legendary bluesman), used it as well. But this is a Walkerish type lick...spiced a bit

  • dont think so man. maby u shud go listen to some more srv

  • i dont hear even a slight hint of the srv sound here

  • ...Texas flood

  • @GoldGibson ya its texas flood which is supposed to be played in g flat

  • Comment removed

  • @GoldGibson thats definitely not the texas flood lick, it's honey bee. well, it's CLOSE to being the lick in honey bee lol.

  • Honey Bee.alright playin, know what you're talkin about bro

  • texas flood

  • worst lesson EVER.... you can't even play this thing you are holding. And no, I am not a hater....

  • you guys are morons.

    1. it doesn't matter what key you are in -- it can be done in any key

    2. learning a lick note for note is pointless too

    3. it's a pretty generic progression -- it comes up in a lot of vaughan's work.

  • @yenalud Right on. In one of his interviews, Stevie stated that playing the song from one specific note to the next caused problems for him. Did you notice that in this video how the lick lost a lot when slowed down a bit?

  • @yenalud well said dude. obviously some metal heads have strayed to far from just jerking their instruments off.

  • sky is crying?

  • @pbl1 No, Honey Bee.

  • How the hell are you supposed to know a lick when you dont even know the name of the song for crying out loud

  • Ya'll can learn the lick's but not the feeling LOL C ya

  • why dont you tell us what scale it is then maybe we can have a good start, douchbag

  • It's also the same intro for Honey Bee off Couldn't Stand The Weather

  • I'm pretty sure that's Little Wing

  • omg, i dont know what song it is deedelliedee da die, rofl.

  • why is everyone hating on this guy? If he could play as well as SRV he would be famous. jeez. He's just trying to share some knowledge. give it a rest people. can't everybody just get along???

  • Playing the blues is difficult. I don't even try it, I just stick with metal. I play the E minor pentatonic 5 hours a day, everyday.

  • @ComradeRama blues is not difficult .feel is difficult.you either have it or you dont .metal is as complex as you wish to make it .try some dream theater. that shit will give you nose bleed .

  • if u are so good whay dont u have a tattoo in texas BOY!!!!!

  • that's the beginning of Hideaway.

  • its called "Tell Me"

  • If you cant replicate the MASTER do NOT try to teach it!!

  • what a dipsheeot.

  • Sorry, but you just do not understand vibrato I mean you can't do it for shit. Slow down and get the vibrato right first. you should not be doing lessons.

  • R U Helen Keller?

  • the song i called huney bee

  • Dude u SUCK

  • No offense guy I give ya credit for trying but ... if your gonna put up a video on how to play something. Make sure you got the dam riff right! Anybody with an ear can tell that your off on a couple of notes there ...

  • @skynrdpikr tuning off?

  • The song is from "Honey Bee"

  • horrible :S

  • I think that's the riff from "scuttle buttin"

  • how ou getting that tone- its very nice- what amp you playing through?

  • That's a sweet riff -- very Stevie!

  • Stevie got that lick from the intro of Hendrix's Red House.

  • They use different scale positions..

  • No they don't ... it's the same.

  • tabs !!!!!1

  • Dude, just watch the video.

  • how do not know the name of the song... l

  • Funny how people come on here and trash a guy for not knowing what the song is. I bet Stevie would be proud that he has fans like them. Though some of it is amusing as only these kind of things said behind the computer screen can be, who cares?

If he says that Stevie played the lick a lot in his music, should we all expect the appropriate list of songs to support it? hahaha...

  • look up at the wall baby hand me down my shooting iron,.

i can still feel stevie around.

  • dont get on youtube saying im going to play a lick from.... well i dont know what song its from you douche! you wouldnt have got one hit with out srv in the title. the song you dont know about is honey bee. if your going to get on you tube and try to immitate one of the greatest of all time.... a LEGEND you need to come correct. you should rename it "Trying to be like srv EPIC FAIL"

  • @thefamcnaj ok lets all listen to the guy who doesnt have a single video so how the fuck do we know you can play this better than him. i bet you cant. im sure i cant. this is his most used lick so dont come around correcting what doesnt have to be corrected

  • @MrAlfredocolon i can say what ever i want to say who the fuck are you to correct me cunt. if you read the comment you illiterate bastard you'll see that i never said that i could play it better or play it at all but i also dont have any videos trying to be like srv on youtube.

  • @thefamcnaj i know you didnt say that. im saying that you cant correct him. hes right. im just saying who are you to criticize something you havent done before

  • it's an often used lick by stevie, but not the most. this guy also plays it very sloppy, and there is a rong note. stevie plays a flat 2, after he plays the root the 2nd, the root again and a hammer on pull off to the flat 2. this guy keeps playing the regular 2.

btw, even someone that has never played can point out something wrong if hey have an ear. you have to hear it, not necessarily play it.

  • @vekktarn1 you want to talk about ignorance look in the mirror! srv wasnt a hendrix wanna be(im a huge hendrix fan as well) srv idolized him and kept the awsomeness that was hendrix music alive and i dont consider him a wanna be sorry this little stupid lesson helped you play the guitar a lil better and that i offended you or the guy who made it but i don't need some one like you on here correcting anything i say

  • Dude i dont know who's post youre answering, but it sure as hell aint mine. YOU are the one calling SRV a Hendrix wannabee, not me. Read my post again, just maybe you'll get it right this time.

    ...

You don't need my comments? For real? Cause i can't live without yours. Yours is truly The One comment that really added that something special to this thread.

  • @vekktarn1 That was gay

  • you´re making fun of him, you player the guitar well, but dont be stupid...

  • you are wrong, dumbass.

  • Couldn't stand the Weather on the 1st lick.

  • i know he uses this lick in Texas Flood

  • "i dunno what the song is." ...you blow

  • @fllooo

well first of all he is talking about the introduction to SRV's "Honeybee" and really countless other lesser known blues tracks. Secondly while this may not be a "note for note" transcription he shows you the basics, really a lick based out of the Aeolian Pentatonic scale, as basic as it really gets. People that obsess over exact specifics don't really understand this style of guitar playing. Im not saying this guy is great or anything but he does do beginner guitar players a favor.

  • it be nice to actually show ppl. what your doing. BUT this lick is not correct anyway.

  • Congratulations. You managed to get a lot of hits because you used SRV name. Sounds like you were in a hurry and didnt have time to get it right. But you posted it anyway.

  • okay we're gonna do uhhhh we'rre gonna dooo this lick! LoL chill down dude

  • You need to practice a lot more before you get on you tube. Your playing sounds like a cat chasing a mouse!

  • thank you

  • the song hes talking about is texas flood.... and its kinda wrong

  • i think he's talking about honey bee.

  • maybe srv used that lick quite a bit its in both songs

  • Agree xD

  • Tabs plz

  • @toonotz69er you need tabs for this??

dude you suck ig you do..

this guy explains it very well and it's easy to hear what he is playing.

  • Part of this is also in the very beginning of texas flood..

  • T-Bone Walker played alot of licks like this as well. I know he was a big influence for both SRV and Hendrix.

  • tabs please it's too unclear

  • I think that the lick is from Jimi hendrix, from the intro of Red House

  • Fuck, could you please tell me which you're using in this vid! Sounds awesome!

  • dude, the hammer should go from the 8th to the 9th fret, or C to C#.

  • Comment removed

  • get a life you prick

  • It's the intro to honeybee. It's not correct by the way, he misses one note.

  • hey riffeo great playing! you were the one that helped me understand what i was hearing on some stevie tracks when i first started. dont know why there are so many haters in the guitar world, we are all playing for the same reason, because it makes us feel good. all these losers who insist on trying to correct you or hate on what you are doing are not famous and most likely dont make a living off playing guitar so they have no right correcting anyone. keep playin good tunes, and thanx for helpin

  • can't you just imagine this lick in a porno? this lick is badass! i'm gonna incorporate it in my solos! oh btw its from honeybee...

  • lick pussy?

  • what??

  • It is Honey Bee and a variation is used in Texas Flood

  • That hammer on should be a 1/2 step lower than your playing it. The lick is so cool because the hammer on note isn't in the scale.

    :)

  • you're right man. but it's all good

  • that's correct man!!!!!

  • I think it's "Honeybee"..... nice explanation..... have to wrok on getting it up to speed..........

  • i think its leave my girl alone

  • damn that tone on tht guitar is sweeetttttt

  • its in texas flood too, its easy to play but sounds awesome :)

  • the texas flood album cut intro starts off similar, it's in the same box, but it's not the same. i think like the firsrt 5 or six (maybe more notes are the same). it is honey bee i believe.

  • it's honey bee

  • I think it's from Texas Flood.

  • Dude, you obviously know how to play. It's a good rendition of one of Stevie Rays most used licks. Anyone who can help someone else get a little further along is OK in my book.

  • That's almost the correct way to play the beginning of Honey Bee..... I wouldn't go as far as to say that lick is SRV's staple lick, especially if you don't even know the name of the song you are playing.

  • Gee, I guess I'll look for "all" your CD's out on the market next time I'm out. It's obvious that those who need attention have to come on you tube to slam great guitarist to get some attention.

Guess it was worth while for you to piss a few people off, now go back to your play pen, mommy will change your poopy diaper when she gets home......

    DOUCHE BAG!!!!!!!!!11

  • i love srv makes me proud to be an austinite

  • dude you are a fuckin moron. your opinions are pointless. just like you. you make comments like this because for one you cant play anything so you insult the greatest guitar player ever. he didnt play little wing correctly because unlike amatuer guitarest as yourself you have to copy. its called a rendition retard. and yes you do have to prove yourself. to make a comment as you did needs proof that you are better to back it up. so we are waiting

  • he doesnt know the song lol

  • Hendrix, Taylor, Young, yadda, yadda, yadda - look buddy, your tag is Guitarrosaurusrex - show me the money. Put up, or shut up. Let's see some vids of you wanking on some SRV. Otherwise, I have to take it as you're another troll looking for some attention on a post where you knew your comment would be incendiary.

    Fact: you can't play shit.

  • Boring? Wow, you must be really good! How about you post us some of your super-awesome-o SRV covers then, because if it bores you, it must be like, second nature.

Then we can all have a nice laugh, and 3 seconds later, totally forget you exist.

  • Couldnt have put it better myself

  • that's not right bud. He hammers to the Db after playing the D. Looks like YOU"VE been stapled!

  • your not doing it right, this is just a general lick(not a riff) of blues, but stevie uses half a note that makes it special for example

    your doing it D C D C

    stevie does it D C C# C u know ?

i'd make a video but i dont have a camera

  • Dude, you get a camera and I'll watch. I'm open. Love the blues

  • don`t be so sure

  • Its good but i dont know if its the staple when i think of SRV i can't help but here the intro to pride and joy but thats just me...who knows...good playing though

  • you play it wrong. look at steviesnacks foundation riff it is one of the only videos where they show you how to play it correct.

  • Honeybee.
