Musically, sure, they're more alternative rock than punk rock. But ideologically I consider them to be more "punk" than the Sex Pistols, the Misfits, the Ramones or The Clash.

Nothing punk about that. No band today can be "more punk" than any of the bands you mentioned, because those bands started punk. Regardless of how the sound evolves, it only gets FURTHER from the original movement, even if it sounds better to you.

The word "fag", originally bundle of sticks, came from the idea that homosexuals were so evil, they should be burned. Most gay people have probably had that word used against them, maybe while they were getting beat up. It's a terrible word, that should be discouraged. But because of your "punk" rulebook that you live by, you think its worse to discourage that word, than to actually use it. If that's punk, seriously FUCK being punk.
