i can her the chain, and i can here what u think is valve lifters, but thats just how they sound but when u were revving it, it sounded maybe low on oil
@CDawg011 you probablyy broke your piston ring lands or your valve seals and valves. if it heat seized you probably ruined your valve guides seals and head. the lower should be ok if it was a heat seize. :) get a new head or even just get a turbo buildup. if its a DD, get the head and valvetrain replaced ASAP. and MAKE SURE to have the block resurfaced by a trained pro. ill pm you a dude who will do this if you want. :)
@CDawg011 idk. the dude is in southern california. it really depends on what it is. if it needs to be rebuilt, the price of the parts + labor. so it could be pricy depending on what it is. if its more than like a thousand, you should get a new engine.
My 93 Dakota has this same sound! Not quite as bad, but.. its so goddamn annoying.. and I've tried everything, seafoamed it (it helped with the idling and rpm's though) and duralube fuel conditioner, tightened bolts, replaced fan belt.. my problem has to be the same thing then, a sticky lifter or a timing problem.
i have the same problem. tried everything, rislone, marvel mystery oil, flush my engine, oil additives, fuel additives, and other stuff, the ticking is still there. the only solution is to go in the engine and change the valve lifter to a new one.
the sound that sounds like marbles in a tin can is the timing chain slapping against the guides. either get a timing chain kit or just remove the guides. the lawnmower noise is a stick lifter. you need to adjust the shims,i had this same exact problem and solved it with a thicker shim
Are you talking about the sound that starts at about 39 seconds into the clip. If so, I've recently developed the exact same sound. It's most apparent at lower rpms while increasing rpm. I do not have chain guides.
is it just a noise? any other problems with it? if not this is just how these engines are, by the sounds of it its a little pushrod lump thats in the middle of its life
hey i have the same problem a little bit....i searched for weeks online and found it could b one of a few things...1 take ur valve cover off (its ok to put back on with out new one did it with no problems) and check ur timing chain guide...mine had chipped off and was clinking around in there...take it off...2 check your oil..could b valve lifters...and 3rd check ur oil pump...hit me back if any of this helps...i need to learn as well ...
try changing your oil and filter.....less 1 can of oil and add "RISLONE" oil treatment to it. This stuff has been around forever and it has worked on 3 old cars I have owned in the past. You can get it on ebay. This is the only product of it's type that has actually worked for me. Good luck
Thanks for posting once you solved it...

@highdeserthater Do you know how long it would take for them to do this? And how much it would cost, roughly? PM me and I'll give you my email.

Sounds like you might need to replace timing chain/guides/tensioner
