  • The Master of Strings

  • I wonder how many TV Execs they pissed of by stopping in the middle of Hey Joe, and busting in to Sunshine of Your Love. Awesome! Elvis and the Attractions did a similar thing 10 years later on SNL with Less than Zero in to Radio, Radio. Connection?? Probably not, but it's cool to think so.

  • Hendrix was (and still is) an original guitar player. Not very many live shows were true to the originals. In fact, Woodstock has some shining moments (villanova, Anthem, Purple haze ) but most of the rest was below standards. It was very difficult, if not impossible, to replicate the tone of his albums live. With the new pedals and technology, It would have been quite a bit better. This is why he played so loud; to get sustain from the power section of the 100 w Marshalls.

  • @stratojetb47 Interesting post to why Jimi played so loud!

  • @stratojetb47 You left out 'Jam back at the house' or also called 'Beginnings' on the list.I thought that was some inspired music at woodstock. As to the part about why Jimi played loud, who didn't?

  • Fantabulous. Thank you. No one comes close. When the beatles are forgotten, Jimi will be studied.

  • @trignoriver1 FAB 4 will never be forgotten -=- they have won the rock n roll race to capture the best band-- the hysteria they created ,,teenagers passing out --ten thousand flashbulbs going off simultaiously by there fans-They had it all to from A-Z..The 4 They had & gave spirit of the people it was never more present .the beatles were more of a phenomina. -- I laso want to tell you that I have guitars from the 60's and i cover jimi hendrix-- I like and follow jimi hendrix more than U

  • @trignoriver1 The Beatles will never be forgotten. Jimi played Stg Peppers the weekend it came out. Bro, why put disambillance where it never existed? They both liked each other. It's not either or, but both. They are all gifted.

  • it seems it was recorded with my stolen mobile:)

  • Did anyone get the "Day tripper" strum @ 6.10?

  • This guitar's givin me a rush at the back of my throat(can't you tell). Thats why I'm pullin a face like that. I love the taste..(of a left handed strum guitar or just about anythin with strings.

  • his songs will live on forever, forever

  • Hey check him tune in the middle of the song on hey joe...fucking smooth bro fucking smooth...

  • @Zrokool123 Then they play the cream that made clapton poopy in his pants when he saw jimmy play it..

  • jimi and the boys ... that would just peeve me to no end ...

  • At least the video is being played at the right speed in the right key... so much of hendrix"' videos are sped up,, it is hilarious ,, Makes for good fodder for the hendrix freaks though

  • Did anyone else catch At 6:08 Jimi plays the riff of the Beatles- i feel fine

  • which pixel is jimi Hendrix?

  • Too bad that racism in the U.S. caused him to move away like many great American artists.

  • @jasonito23 According to most white Americans at that time in the 50s and 60s racism wasn't a major problem for blacks and for America.

  • @wovokanarchy

Thanks to Raciest Blacks and Guilty Whites, Liberals, Communists, Muslims, and Brain Dead Morons, a Kenyan Marxists Muslim was elected to the Presidency of the U.S..

Due to that Massive Mistake, Racism is Back & Bigger than ever. The Kenyan has set Race Relations back 50 years.

  • @Blowme100Xs How so?

  • Couldn't sing worth a shit though.

  • Comment removed

  • @wovokanarchy COMMENTS LIKE YOURS STINK LIKE ROTTEN EGGS

  • Ladies and gentlemen...............Jimi Hendrix. We'll never see his like again.....never.

  • 3:45 delicious guitar

  • 11 dislikes... the end is near

  • Pala Gap is my favorite

  • The Grey Whistle Stop show with The Experience, JImi, Noel and Mitch - I love that show highlighting new materials late at night. But this is Lulu presenting here, very good all the same !! The Army tunics were popular jackets in the 60s and jimi had one on stage many times, even his girlfriend had one on when I spotted them in Oxford St out shopping.

  • i stand up next to a to nation and i chop it down with a guitar in my hand

  • YIIIIIIIIIIIKES ! ! ! Blew my mind again Jimi ! ! !

  • still goddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd

  • The early life of Hendrix did not hint at what was to come. This is fantastic. Thanks bech 2002.

  • Awesome vintage vid! *****

  • There are much better quality vids of this on yt go watch elsewere. No offence bech2002 but king Jimbob should be seen in good quality!!

  • Way too big sound for television, esp. in '69. Radio was better. Check out he BBC Drivin' South cuts...

  • 4 days before i was born

  • The 11 dislikes are Lady Ga(g) Ga(me) fans.

Guitar Bible, Book of Rock, chapter 1, verses 1: Man made guitar, and it was good. Jimi play it, and it was better.

  • One of the greatest thing about hendrix is is no matter what he plays it sounds different each time

  • The crowd has no idea they are in the presence of history.

No one played anything anywhere near this way at the time.

    Ground-breaking and iconoclastic.

"We're being put off the air...." If only they had a clue.

  • @S0lidState You sir, are the epitome of trolldom. If ever there were a provocative statement, that's it...

  • who was that chick lulu?

  • man this was my song :D. Voodoo Chile :D.

  • HES THE BADDEST MO FO OF ALL TIME

  • Hendrix doesn't play by numbers, or TABS or following someone elses material. He plays delta blues with bass and drums. He uses distortion, wah pedal and a whammy bar. He knew every guitar playing trick back in the day. Get a great band and when no one else is doing it, your free to write the script like Jimi did.

  • Really he's playing old delta blues with an amped up stratocaster with a Wah-Wah pedal and whammy bar effects. Its music theory on LSD. With Noel and Mitch you get VOODOO CHILE. Its not that hard to make, but difficult to copy.

  • @KeatingUlrichSimons "It's not that hard to make"? I've been playing the guitar for almost 40 years and although this piece reveals different blues influences it would indeed be very hard to "make" (I'm assuming that you mean "create") this. Jimi did it.

  • He was way ahead of his time.Master of the Stratocaster;like me!LOL!

  • Never underestimate Redding and Mitchell.

  • motherfucker yes hes the king.

  • 10 people need to be punched in the throat. Jimmy Hendrix is god

  • @hamdemond1 amen to that brother....amen.......

  • the hummmmmmmmm !!!!goooood !!!! in PARIS (France) Sylvain

  • This shouldn't be the featured video for the live on the LuLu show in 1969, there's much better quality recordings of it on youtube, both for audio and image.

  • long live the king of the guitarre....love

  • he was the best in my opinion ,but where is he now?what did he gain?

  • @ablaze7777 Oh you mean that thing called death, well it gets us all in the end. Unfortunately most of us disappear into the midst of time without troubling the memories of many. What did he gain? A place in history isn't a bad legacy, ultimately it's all there is to achieve at best.

  • there's a better quality version of this on youtube. the video is called "Jimi Hendrix LuLu Show 1969 **FULL**"

  • There is a much better version of htis on youtube

  • god damn brits and their shitty PAL broadcasting systems...

  • :o how could you forget that its British

    calm it

  • proberly the best qaulity ive ever seen

  • its not english tv ..its british tv as in british broadcasting corp...of the united kingdom of great britain and northern ireland

  • @manilaron And??

  • nice quality

  • Comment removed

  • good song but terrible, terrible quality

  • there's loads better quality visual verstions of this...the lulu show

  • Hey Jimi - love you forever X

  • Yeah! The REAL King! Long live Hendrix!!!! ( I know he is dead. But his music lives on.) :)

  • Thank GOD for You Tube....Long live the KING !

  • epic solos are what push me forward in guitar playing!!

i can learn any pop song etc. that i want but its always a a randy jimi or van halen solo that pushes me forward

  • I love the fact he caught that out of tune string on Hey Joe and got it fixed pronto. Just Amazing.

  • Voodoochild imo is the greatest rock tune in our history.

  • @patrickmcclatchey its a GOOD ONE 4 sure

  • @patrickmcclatchey ITS A SONG OF RIENCARNATION

  • I agree he did all three really well. Machine gun is totally stunning. Both versions on New Years Eve and day from the Filmore East concerts of 69/70 are up there with Picasso and Beethoven! Band Of Gypsies was Jimi playing with family whereas Experience was more contractual obligations, although the 3 albums he made with them are legendary.

  • On subject of wars that ppl brought up here, see Machine Gun solo, that Jimi played with the Band of Gypsys. In my opinion the greatest solo ever captured on film.

  • Hendrix was amazing. It just strikes me that there is a direct line in his music from Robert Johnson, only electrified. Haven´t realized this before now. Wonder if anybody ever tried doing an acoustic johnson-style hendrix cover? :)

  • pretty low resolution vid!

  • Jimi Hendrix is the greatest guitarist of all time!

  • That tone is fuckin' amazing!!!!

  • When you're unique, you exist in your own level, I'd put Jimi in unique status with Randy Rhodes and Dimebag Darrell- all genius, all unique and different from each other, but equally incredible. (Jimi was also an incredible writer too though, there's where he does beat the other 2, if they have to be beaten) Jimi made me want to play guitar.

  • Jimi made everyone want to play guitar, even those greats like randy rhoads and dimebag darrell

  • @rstar2008 The greatest *electric* guitarist, certainly.

Every inch of his reputation is well earned, and then some.

Hendrix is Hendrix for damn good reason.

  • @polymath7 yea cuz he puts his heart and soul into everything that he plays

  • @rstar2008

Of his time maybe yes, but these days there tons of people who run circles around him.

  • @supermel9 name one.......who used feedback and distrotion played with their teeth behind their back

jimi started it all.......clapton, townsend, beck, page were in awe of hendrix when he came to england in 1966.

beck said in an interview that he was thinking of getting a job in the post office after hendrix arrived on the scene

  • True, Vai is a great example of technique devoid of emotion, passion or any meaning whatsoever. Folk like Vai, killed Rock n roll after all.

  • what would you say about zappa then? did he kill it? cause i think he was like hendrix and brought to a great level

love to jimi with all my white ass soul( which aint much ahah cause im white god damn it haha)

  • plz dont spam this but if u wanna see a couple of idiots playing to purple haze with bongos, bass guitar, guitar, and rythym guitar, see our video on my channel

  • steve vai? o please, steve vai sucks.

  • you can say vai sucks whenever you can play better than him..which will probably be never

  • vai would've been interesting if he'd played good raw music with emotion and not only tricks and shit

  • So you think you have to be able to lay eggs to tell if an egg has gone bad?

  • that was great

    shame lulu cant present

  • Lulu's a pretty good presenter actually! ;)

Go sign our petition show your support for the sensational songstress!

  • she's 107 and still looks good today :)

    (maybe not 107 hehehe)

  • i remember watching this live, it was on the "lulu" show, oh how it fucked everyone up when jimi started into "sunshine", this was not on the schedule......ha.ha........rip jimi, thanxs for the music.

  • This is amazing

  • Peace to all fans of Jimi. Be sure to check out Sound Frontier's version of this Hendix anthem on YouTube. Long live Jimi's music!!!

  • Hw WAS the best, check out all the other covers (even the ones in PROPER bands), the lack the soul that he had and fails to match his guitar techniques. Hendrix played the guitar like it was a part of his body, such confidence and in tune with himself.

  • however there would have never been a stevie ray without jimi hendrix.

  • that was a pretty stupid thing to say

you could make an arguement for him to be in the same league as hendrix but he is the 2nd best, noones gonna pass hendrix

  • stevies good but he would slap you himself for saying that one lol

  • Cool fucking guitar in the beginning!

  • Not best, but the coolest guitar player and the coolest Voice i like it more that the guitar.

  • What is the name of the song at the end when he dedicates to cream?

    Thanks

  • Sunshine of your love.

  • Jimi was a HUGE fan of Clapton. Also Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Peter Green, Albert King, Albert Collins, B.B.--many others. When he first came to England, his manager got him a sit-in with Cream. Blew everybody's minds.

As to an earlier comment about him not being able to afford a lefty guitar--actually they didn't make lefty guitars (or at least Fender didn't) untill much, much later.

  • Well, he did actually own at least one lefty guitar, and Clapton planned to give him one a few days before he died. They were just very hard to find, and by the time he had a chance to acquire one for serious usage upside down righty guitars had become his "thing".

  • the real guitar hero.

    facts:

    lefty guitar player

    band name: Jimi Experience

after rock song set guitar to flames

always played through feelings- soul thought

played guitar once with teeth! with teeth! wow, genius.

  • correction: played guitar often with tongue! with tongue! wow, genius.

  • fuck you!!!!

  • played manyh times with teeth mate. and the abnd was just called the jim hendrix experience, or just the experience at the beginning. and it wernt after a 'rock song', it was at woodstock in late 60's early 70's

  • sooo fuckin cool to see Hendrix etc playing something dedicated to THE CREAM.

  • he's so fucking good

  • dont write so long commments its so much to read

  • okay

  • then dont read em

  • loosen up a bit, your not gonna gain nethng by jus talkin about it on a jimmy hendrix comment box on you tube. His music has real meaning, and at the same time is amazing, but dont get heavy. its depressing.

p.s Jimi rox my sexy sox.

  • What a legend

  • Who talks about music here ?

  • realpaulodobrasil

Jimi Hendrix was amazing. It is very sad that he died so you. The way he died is no surprise considering the 60's drug culture. Music is an interesting subject. Those that are not tone deaf like I am can really appreciate music and truly know good music VS bad music.

  • However was war a part of the cultural concern at the time. Vietnam was going on after all. I find what this person Cldfsn0200 says is interesting and hope to learn something. So if you don't mind I want to talk war. However if you wan to talk music then go for it. I might learn something from your posts.

    Peace!

  • If war is nothing more then politics and money leave me out of it. If it is about bringing justice to a nation then I'm all for it but we better work on our own nations first. We have enough problems at home. So why look for trouble in another nation? They will spend lots of money on arms but let people live poor and uneducated in our own nations.

  • What pisses off the USA, Canadian and Australian soldiers that fought there was that a lot of their buddies died and they could have won the war but politics got in the way.

  • I've been surfing Hendrix on youtube for about an hour and almost every video has some sort of political discourse and name calling going on in the comments. What is it about watching Jimi that makes people start blaming each other for their countries problems?

  • I think that people like to bash the other persons nation no matter what but we all know that in the time Jimi was alive that there were a lot of hot politics going on. Sadly people love to put down others nations other then their own and yet we could learn a lot from other nations. If governments took a good look at other nations and adopted the good things from each nation things would be a whole lot better.

  • I agree, everyone wants to believe that their country is the best around. They want to believe what they read in the paper or see on the TV. I do think there is definitely too much anti American sentiment in the world and all the grumbling that has gone on over the years was responsible for 9/11 attacks. So frankly I'm pissed off a little at the Canadians who like to talk dirt about the USA because of 9/11 is partly their fault.

  • My wife has a math degree and sometimes I see her as a dumb shit fearless female. She is apposed to war. Yet does not see the reality of this wold.

  • 36 million Canadians and you decide we all think that way? FYI this is actually a Hendrix video not a place to stray off into world politics and Canada. Hendrix, Hendrix, Hendrix, a great guitarist who was American and who really cares where we are from.....a beautiful world if you get out and explore and if u let it be...peace!

  • Canadians love to put down America.

Americans love to put down Canada.

Yet both nations have some really good things and some really bad things about them. If the two nations could put away pride, ignorance and pettiness things would be soooo much better for both of us.

  • I know a few Canadians and I even went to Canada for an extended visit in the late 90's heard a lot of people putting down the USA. It really pissed me off. I yelled out "If anyone else puts down my country one more time I'm going to punch them in the mouth" But under Bush I think I would agree with them this. He totally screwed up our reputation in the world by leaps and bounds. But Canadians are more apt to put down Americans than vice versa for sure!!!

  • amazing live performance !!!

  • the led zeppelin dvd is amazing

  • oh how the chicken hawks love to whine, they sound like children: Liberals didn't have the balls to LET US fight like we WANTED TO!! wahhh! Vietnam, like Iraq was wayyyy longer than world war two, but instead of anything good getting done, was just a waste of money and lives (except for all who made money on it). Are your balls really so small you have to get vicarious thrills watching people destroy each other? Makes you feel powerful? Leave the world alone and try going to the gym.

  • You're a moron for two reasons: a) you're arguing about politics on YouTube during a live Jimi Hendrix video, and b) you have a completely jaded outlook on the war. Bush had a Republican congress for 3 years during the Iraq war! Open-ended spending! He could have done whatever he wanted, but he and Rummy were completely incompetant and refused to listen to the military about strategy. Go watch Bill O'Reilly - leave Hendrix to the beautiful people.

  • wats anything to do with the video??

  • I agree but why dis on Jimi Hendrix videos and that's why you earn no respect from me but I still go with you on the war thing Iraq wars sucks wars sucks

  • WHATEVER!

  • Jimi Hendrix-The final days by Tony Brown... Very, very interesting book. I hope i helped someone out, thank you. Dont just sit and judge, read and do research before mouthing off. I have read a lot of books about Jimi.

  • Jimi Hendrix-the last 24 hours dvd- the covert war against rock. Eyewitness books 1968 and 1969-1970. Throughy gypsy eyes by Kathy Etchingham and a whole lot more that i,ve read but cannot name the authors at this moment.

  • sum up the kathy etchingham and others book could you? i promise i'm not with the government..

  • I dont know if he was murdered. Grab the books and dvds and read for yourself and be the judge.. Jimi Hendrix-the man the magic the truth by Sarah lawrence. Electric gypsy by Mark Shapiro and Caesar Glebbeek.

  • Michael Jeffreys certainly had the motive as Jimmy's last visit that night was to Chas Chandler who Jimmy wanted to produce his next album and take over management from Jeffries. Jeffreys, a former special forces op., probably engineered his own dissappearance as he always bought multiple plane tickets to the same destination and chose the flight he would actually take at the last minute. In the last flight, one of them crashed and he was listed as a passenger. No bodies were ever located????

  • I know this may be hard for you to comprehend. I don't know what your age is, although I'd say you are probably under 40. We fought the communist Vietcong to stop them from taking control of a democratic South Vietnam. The North was backed by China. In the end the liberals, as they usually do, didn't have the balls, or the will, to let the military fight the Vietcong the way they wanted to. If they did Vietnam would be much better off than they are now.

  • rigarick

You sound like the smartest person here.

The Liberals are doing a good job of screwing things up today as well both in Canada and the USA.

  • linuxman55: You don't have to be smart on this subject. Just connect the historical dots, and the obvious is in plain view.

However, it's fun getting the dipshit liberals all crazy, when you hit them with logic, common sense and historical facts.

They always get all excited, then start yelling and swearing, then they hit you with some PC bullshit like "you're so meanspirited", but in the end, I forgive them,..... they have a mental disorder.

  • LOL! I agree they do have a mental disorder.

I get called meanspirited all the time.

I say that if a crazy person breaks into my home and wants to rape my wife and harm my children I would kill the bastard.

The liberal minded people call me a monster.

What should I do? Let the guy do as he pleases? The liberal bleeding hearts have really screwed up Canada. Ask almost anyone 40 years old and older.

  • Vietnam was a bogus war! Fact is that a former CIA agent came forward about 10 years ago and stated that he created false reports about how China was arming the Viet Cong. There false reports primary reason we went to war. Sound familiar? As in false WMD in Iraq?

Prime motivation for both wars the war money making machine companies which these conservatives are stock holders and owner of!

  • To me the troubling thing is that even at 40 years old I find war fascinating. The adrenaline

rush it must be and out smarting the enemy.coming home a hero and alpha male. However on the other side when one sees the videos of ripped apart people reality kind of sets in.

  • I applied for the US army and the Canadian army however I realize that at 40 years old I truly am not in shape for it. What I realize as well is that war is a rich mans game. The poor and middle class kids pays the heavy price. The rich say that war costs money. In the beginning it does however after all sorts of contracts are signed to built new cars, buildings and bridges and the rich profit.

  • War is evil pure and simple...killing is evil. There's got to be a better way to boost the male ego. How about going to Africa and be a warrior in the war of poverty: drill water wells and help feed starving kids. You will lessen economic hardships and put smile on thousands of peoples faces. There is something you will be respected for and proud of.

  • I don't know if killing is evil. What about self defense? I spoke with a woman tonight that said that she knew a guy that was in Iraq. He got out as soon as he could. Two of his friends committed when they came home. What the media says and what really happens is two very different things.

  • There is no evil in protecting yourself with lethal force if you are in emminant danger but Iraq is a long way from your house and there's no emminant danger lurking. So this is a false premise-its even a fabricated premise which is why Bush and Cheney are going to hell and those who support them are lining up to get in too.

  • We seem to have no answers for Africa let alone our own nations. How long have we been trying to help the Africans??? Yet they are still suffering. Warlord take the food that was sent over there for the poor and trade the food for arms.

  • The problem is not so much Africa but that poverty has so much of the world in a grip because good people do nothing or too little. Which I confess I am guilty of. Its a systemic problem since the bigging of time that the rich hord the wealth at the expense of the weak. This is a problem of the good and evil. And the evil are the whores who control the money selling their souls in the process and define reality for the rest of us which is full of lies and illusions.

  • I like the way you think

  • I spoke with a woman tonight that said that she knew a guy that was in Iraq. He got out as soon as he could. Two of his friends committed suicide when they came home. The fact is that they couldn't live with themselves. No one could unless you are self centered and selfish by nature.

What the media says and what really happens is two very different things. This woman is going out with my brother-in-law and she used to live in Virginia.
