Two things I really like about the original Legend of Zelda dungeons: their uniformity and--to an extent--finding the dungeon boss sort of lent an air of tension to the gameplay, and the bosses didn't always depend on the special tool found in the level. Sometimes it was just about basic strategy and using your sword.

Huh. I played this on the 3DS and I killed the third boss with one bomb. I had only hit it with my sword one time before I decided to try a bomb. I was quite excited when it worked.

Evidently the boss "manhandla" could have turned some people gay. The name implied that it was acceptable for a person to "handle" a man. I remember the wacko Christian groups protesting the game for that very reason. Unbelievable.

X__X i beat him earlier but then i forgot to save the game and turned it off..so yeah now i gotta do all that all over again--_-- oh well. so far the hardest bosses i have had to beat in any game were Bongo Bongo and Manhandla. but i love this game, oh and yes it has a great storyline, its just the story isnt in the game itself much like newer ones. but it actually has more immersion that way imo. personally i love this game so far, im addicted to it lol :)

@AlderDragon I meant: Unspectacular in the story. You make your first steps and you're in the frist dungeon already. Look at the newer Zelda-Games like Twillight Princess with awesome animations of boss enimies and measure the tie you need to get to the frist dungeon.

@MasterQuestMaster I prefer how open the first Zelda game is though. I like being able to roam all around and explore right from the beginning. I think Wind Waker is amazing in this regard as well, Twilight Princess not so much. The story is pretty scant compared to today's games, as one would expect, but as far as the NES library goes, I'd say it's one of the best.

@Slowpokekitty Nope, The white sword isn't required for anything, you could beat the entire game with the wooden one if you wanted to. You just need to have 5 hearts before you can get the white sword.

@KidNinja2000 While a swastika, it's not the same type the Nazis used. That one faces the other way, and for Buddhism it's been a sacred symbol for centuries, and really isn't considered negative to use in East Asia if it faces that way. Since it was made in Japan, they probably just decided to keep it and not change it.

Gleeok was the only remotely hard boss in this game.

Aquamentus - Anything really, easy to dodge, 2 bombs or 3 arrows.

Didongo - Slow moving, 2 bombs, or you can use the 1 bomb-stab method.

Manhandla - 1 Bomb, he's actually decent if you screw the 1 bomb up.

Gleeok - Vulnerable only to stabbing, requires decent dodging.

Digdogger - Flute > Boomerang > Bomb > Dead

Ghoma - 1 Arrow (3 later on, still easy) only hard when he has fire statues with him.

Ganon - Spam stab, 1 arrow when he is weak.

@proughboy No, Ganon/Ganonforf isn't in Majora's Mask. He might be mentioned, I can't remember.. but the main antagonist of Majora's Mask is Skull Kid, or in my opinion, the mask itself.

@darklink321 You can get it after you have 12 heart containers. You don't have to beat the game before getting it.

I think it can be obtained as early as dungeon 5 (if you collect all of the overworld heart containers first, then get 4 from the first 4 dungeons)

@cronosabre I think Nintendo reused a lot of sound effects. I'm not sure where the whistle sound originally came from, but yeah it is the same sound effect. It's also the beginning intro to Ocarina of Time, if you listen carefully.

@joshua201000 The 2nd quest bosses aren't included, because they're all repeats. Just in different orders. Some people consider patra to be a mini-boss, but I think of it as a high-level enemy.
